HDTVMAN got a reaction from RickM71 in Putter Fitting: I Need Some Convincing!
I am certified to fit all the major brands, and have used SAM (Science and Motion) to fit putters. I have also been fit by SAM and at Bettinardi with a much more advanced fitting system. My personal bottom line...take your putter to a retail golf shop with a putting green in the putter area. Compare your putter to others you like, and putt 8-10 balls all from the same spot. If nothing better than your current Ping, keep the Ping. If there is another putter that works better for you, there you go. Remember, putters break and miraculously fix themselves after a period of time. I purchased an Odyssey that I made 12 straight putts in the store 15 years ago. Still have and use occasionally, when it works! Don't waste the money on putter fittings.

As a fitter, UST Recoils are the most popular graphite shafts I order/sold. They are the best. Check it out.

HDTVMAN got a reaction from IndyBonzo in Putter shafts - Do they matter?
I have an original White Hot Rossie putter, which I like very much, and have considered replacing the steel shaft. That's until I watched Jon Rahm putting with the newest White Hot Rossie OG putter, and he's using a steel shaft! I've decided not to change.

Yes, composite shafts were available, and yes, all manufacturers are very similar. Cameron (Encinitas), Ping (Phoenix), and Bettinardi (Chicago), which I've also been to are as exact as Odyssey. Every individual is different, as is every putter. I don't know Rahm's specs, but just saying if a composite shaft worked better for him, he'd have it. Very few composites on Cameron shafts. It's just what works best for you.

Definitely. However, when I learned to fit I was at Callaway's Performance Center in Carlsbad and went thru the Odyssey fitting center, where the pros are fit, including Jon Rahm. The pros can choose any putter, insert, grip, and shaft, built exactly to their stroke. According to the Odyssey fitters, a stroke two degrees off line from 6 feet will definitely miss the cup, and their goal with the pros is (+)(-)1 degree. Most are (+)(-) 1/2 degree. I saw several pro's computer results before and after and it was amazing what this place can do! So, when the pro leaves he has the perfect putter for his stroke for that fitting. Can it change for the next fitting, definitely.

I completely revamped my bag since last fall, 14hdcp senior, with G425 5-U, replacing i500's for more forgiveness. I do carry a G425 5W with my driver (just cut to 44.5"), but I traded my G410 4H-5H-6H for G425 7 and 9 fairways. Years ago I had a seven heaven & divine nine, and loved them. Thought I'd turn the clock back and try them again. These clubs have so many setting on the hosel, that it will take a while to see which settings work best to fill in the gaps.

May sell my Scotty Cameron 11.5 which I bought last winter. Not happy. Ben trying an Odyssey Eleven S with zero aiming on top, and love the feel and sound from the White Hot insert. Will be in the bag this week.

Thinking of ditching the chipper I've experimented with for about 6 months. I find the good ones I hit with it could be accomplished with another club. Most of the time that club is a putter, actually. The SIK DW 2.0 I switched to recently has a heavy billet construction and is a weapon from the area 2 yards around the green for me.
I think a couple more months of gaming it including some practice through 3 cuts of grass and pop and roll shots off a grass tuft type shots will elimate any desire to grab anything else in those situations. Any lies around the green that can't be putted I can spin my 56° which I'm getting good at.
I dislike the insert, particularly now I'm not using an insert putter. Going back and forth between a milled putter and insert chipper is creating inconsistency. Some of my worst shots lately come from hitting the metal somewhere around the chipper insert. Often ended further away than it started.

The other side to above is, what to do with the spot opened up by ditching the chipper?
Wanted a 3w after seeing and now feeling in hand the G425 and TSi, had my eyes open, seen some sub $200 range. Don't want to spend that but what really keeps me from getting one is my 4w performance.
I think 17° is my happy place for a fairway wood, my driver is happy at 11.25° I don't see a reason to pack that part of the bag with options from 195-220 yards. If I were a single digit handicap I'd probably view this differently.
This leads me to want a 5i. 5H is adjustable down to 23° and 3H is neutral 20° I think a 5i would fit in that setup (my 6i is 26.5°) with the ultimate goal being a smooth iron swing that is only ever 100% effort if I really need to reach a tiered green or clear water. I'd like to reach a point I swing 90% every time with an iron in my hand.
I might consider finding a 5i with a steelfiber shaft to match the hybrids. It would be a chance to test if I'd enjoy having them in the rest of my irons, especially if my aim is slower more consistent swing speed with my irons.
The thought process is I could hit a 5i with the right setup about 8 yards further than I hit my 6i now and be more tuned in with my current 6-AW

HDTVMAN got a reaction from tony@CIC in Arccos User Group
I've tried Arccos several times with Cobra & Ping and it doesn't work! Waste of money. Where I fit it was also sold and I discouraged the sale to customers. I spoke to Arccos at a PGA show and they admitted issues. Save your money.
