    Salsa!

Sorry folks, but FRUIT IN SALSA !!!! I know a 'little" about salsa, that's how I knew how ticked off my mother was at my step-father, if yo stuck a spoon in it and it melted,,,, stay away from her. A good salsa is flavorful not just burning hot. Now, I like to keep it simple,,,, there is many types of salsa, my favorite is again, simple, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, cilantro , just a tad of lime juice, salt, pepper and a touch of garlic,, once you have all those ingredients mixed in, then ROAST either on the stove or grill your chiles, either jalapeno, serrano or green chiles (IF you can, try to use green chiles from Hatch New Mexico). Peel the skin off, cut the stem off, clean the inside , chopped them up and mix in with your prior ingredients. DONE! adjust hotness with amount of chiles. Again, NO FRUIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. The way I play golf and poker, it's not gambling, I am basically , an ATM !!!!!
  3. This is a tough one,,,,, I used the PING fitting app and it said I have an "ARC" and the recommendation was a plumbers Anser2, which is what I have used 75% of my golfing life. But 9 years ago I went to a heel shafted putter and have never putted better. If I had to vote, it would "inconsistent" since it goes from arc to slight to straight back, sometimes all three in one round!
  4. Was able to take the Piper C for a mini session and so far the feel is spot on as to what I wanted to feel, firm but not “clicky Since I gamed a center shafted putter before (Scotty Cameron beached prototype) , re-adjusting was rather quick, direction control/Aim is very easy. Hoping to take it out for a real world test this weekend. More to follow
  5. @golfish! Saw this, thought you may enjoy this,,,, it's about right ! https://ifunny.co/video/sam-a112017-on-instagram-every-other-branch-eating-at-an-TW6h2llo6
  6. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I know it’s not a train,,,,,, couple of days and I’ll be going full bore with my testing/trials, meanwhile,,,,,
  7. WOW!!!! That is THE first driver I ever played with a graphite shaft, it came with a Aldila HM-40 shaft and stainless shaft, the whole premise was that the shape of the hosel would help with driver speed, thus giving you more distance. After a two rounds, it went back to the pro shop ( I worked at the course, so I tried all new demo equipment) and my PING Eye laminate wood went back in the bag.
  8. The reason is very ,very simple as to why some of us struggle with the 3 wood L.O.F.T ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Lack Of Frikking Talent
  9. After trying the infamous K-Sig's and having them perform no better and in some cases better than "premium" balls, I use them all the time, has even improved my game since I really don't care if I dunk one or two,,, one less swing thought In one outing between the wife and I , think we lost 9, 6 by me.
  10. After a long day of loading boxes from our home we just sold and driving to rental an unloading, I saw a box matching the length of a putter. Felt like a kid at Christmas! I noticed the return address and right after saw the top end opened and the side crushed. I picked it up and quickly looked inside, all was OK !!!! The sun was just about to disappear, so no chance to take a drive to the course, no problem, early morning session, the world was right, for a couple of minutes. Phone rang, work, my hours were changed just for today and Sunday, so another evening of carpet putting *sigh* The rest of the week is full of appointments and moving, one thing I can say is the color, I was kind of iffy about the color scheme based on the photos, but when I saw it in person, very nice, PING subdued colors.
  11. Can't argue your point, we do get taken care of nicely!!!! We had two per room in the 80's, found out only your NCO's had that "privilege" , we got done with our 8-9 hr duty day, we went home , you guys had PT and other associated duties. I feel like I retired from USAF last week, its been 20+ !!!
  12. That is something I wish the USAF had talked more when I joined in 1980, financial planning, you spend 8 weeks in training and then your handed 2 months wages, there is only one thing on your mind,,,,, let the good times roll,,, drinking age was 18 back then too
  13. I been reading this thread with interest since I will be joining the retired golf community when I hit 60 y/o on September 26 2021. My wife was hit with a severe case of the golf bug 2 years ago so going out will be rather easy now. Having served in USAF from '80 to 2000 , traveling is not that high on my list since I did plenty of it. I just want to know what it feels like to do nothing and drive slow because I have nowhere to go on time, unless I have a tee time!
  14. My biggest challenge right now is moving into rental home in the next 2 weeks since we sold out house while prices and demand is high. The great part is that there is a muni course two blocks from the rental we are moving into, so I'll have plenty of time. Plus with the wife having been infected with the golf virus 2 years ago, she can't wait to try it out too.
  15. Had just started playing, took up golf after I saw Caddyshack (yes, in the theater , newly released)I was playing alone, Williams AFB AZ, brand new PING EYE's, irons and woods, par 3, saw a group on green, they were walking off (again, I had just started and knew SQUAT about golf ) I hit a perfect 5 wood, middle of green,,,,,,, 3 feet from this man,,,, from the hair and facial hair I knew he was not active duty so I felt rather "safe". When I got to the green, he was waiting for me, I was 19 and he was mid to later 40’s , he asked me if I had seen him, I said yeah, and that I did not think I would be close, he was kind enough to give me a 3 minute golf etiquette lesson , said “nice shot” and drove away,,,,,, Three weeks later I walk in to see the credit union loan officer about getting a loan to buy my dream car, a Pontiac Firebird, guess who was selling it and WAS the loan officer? Yes, got the loan and bought car. I asked him AFTER I signed for the title and loan if he knew who I was, he said "I knew who you were",,,, about 39 years ago.
  16. First, I would like to thank MGS for trusting me to provide an unbiased and hopefully informative review of the PING Heppler Piper C center Shafted Putter. My name is Noel, and yes, I am Mexican, I was called Mad-Mex several of times when my temper got the best of me during my first 9 years as a USAF Fighter Jet Mechanic, the next 11 as an air traffic controller taught me that cool and calm is good in stressful situations. I was introduced to this game in 1980 by a classic movie, “Caddyshack”. While playing intermural golf, my then first Sergeant said to me “Buy the best you can afford so there is no doubt it’s the equipment”, he used PING’s. After handing in my rental set back to the attendant I saw a new set of PING Eye’s on the rack. An hour later and a trip to the credit Union (no debit cards back then) I had my first new set of irons, PING Eye’s and new putter, stainless steel PING Anser 2. The USAF gave me the opportunity to play in four countries and eight states thus I was able to see firsthand how other’s treat this game/lifestyle. My current wife philosophy about golf is that she rather me spend money on golf than leaving it at the bar, thus she is to blame/credit for starting my putter collection and expanding my golf equipment (addiction) knowledge. Unfortunately or Lucky for me, she was bitten by the golf bug HARD three years ago, if we don’t play at least once a week (pre-COVID), there is some explaining to do. Trips to the PGA Superstore and Edwin Watts have become longer and more often. I am a 14 handicap have gone as low as 10, but am +3 when it comes to enjoying this game, figure if a shanked shot or a couple of balls in a lake is the worse that will happen to me that day, it’s going to be a good day. First Impressions Appearance: Prior to receiving this putter, I had already formed an opinion on the appearance and color based solely on photos in the internet. I “knew” my opinion was not going to be positive, well, I found out after opening the box and sticking my foot in my mouth, that the taste of shoe polish is an acquired taste. The combination of copper and black works well in conjunction with a white golf ball, plus the alignment aides naturally frames the ball so you can see if the ball is centered on the face, or not. Furthermore, this being a center shafted putter, you can easily tell weather you have an open, square or closed face, combine this with the ease of framing the ball and you can be sure your set up is as perfect as possible prior to starting your putt. Grip: It is my humble opinion that a grip can help fine tune the “feel” of a putter. I use a leather grip on my gamer because I prefer a firm feel on a solidly struck put and feedback of those struck off center. At first the P59 looks like it will mute the vibrations and reduced said feedback and feel, but again, looks can be deceiving. Great grip, not too spongey feeling or slippery. Think I found an alternative to leather. Technology: I am very suspicious of manufacturer product claims, but the adjustable shaft is one of the few “Why didn’t I think of that” advancements left. I Love being able to tinker with putter length as easily as adjusting the loft on my driver. It was great adjusting it to fit my taste then turn around and do same for my wife, great job PING. Looks (8 out of 10 points) Reason I picked this shape is that it resembles my current gamer, so it already has a shape I am familiar with. At the risk of contradicting myself, the copper and black combination is still a bit distracting, all black would have been a much better option or maybe only a copper face, maybe the copper will dull and darken a little over time. The looks definitely makes it stand out in a crowded putter market filled with all silver and all black putters. The minimalist in me liked the minimum amount of graphics and lettering. Sound & Feel (9 out of 10 points) PING advertised this line of putters as “solid face for golfers who prefer a firmer impact feel and sound”, and it delivered just that, nothing more, nothing less. The best way I can describe the feel is like when you hit muscle back forged irons, well struck shots will be rewarded with a firm, solid feel. This putter tells you where on the face you struck the ball, something which is more helpful than all putts feeling the same. By having a noticeable difference, it makes me concentrate a bit more on my stroke in order to be rewarded with that crisp solid feel. There is a slight noticeable sound on center and off-center putts, but no clicky or muted sound whatsoever. I had my wife make some putts, and again I was able to tell the slight difference in sounds. Basic Characteristics (18 out of 20 points) One thing I realized going back to a center shafted putter from a heel shafted putter, it does not “fight” your natural stroke. For instance, I made several putts with different styles, straight back, slight arc, moderate and full gated stroke. I was able to make all types without any “resistance” from the head. With a face balanced, mallet type putters, I feel like there was only one way to be able to make a stroke and not feel like the head was fighting you. Hope this explanation makes sense! My goal when putting is to aim for a spot 6 inches beyond the cup, like the great Yogi Berra once said “ 90% of all putts that come up short don’t go in”, thinking is if am off a little, it still has a chance. Reading greens and seeing the line has never been a big problem with my putting game, getting the ball rolling in the line, that’s another story. Being able to square and frame the ball in the center of the face, has helped me start the ball on the intended line. On long lag putts this putter seems to be more stable than any I tried before. I don’t feel any “lag” or flex on the shaft, reading the PING page, it describes the stiffer adjustable shaft. Maybe they are onto something there. It felt a lot heavier than the advertised 365 grams, this was one of the two reason it did not become my wife’s gamer, the other being that it is a center shafted. Which is good for me! Having said that, due to the heaviness , it took me a little longer to adjust my stroke in order to have some distance control. On-Course Performance (29 out of 30 points) Due to home sale and moving, I was not able to take this out on the course as much as I would like to, but I did try to imagine every situation I could think of. This putter was performing well in all situations then it happened. While trying to putt from the fringe, I noticed that putts I could only get within two feet or so of the hole with my heel shafted, I was now constantly within a foot or less. Could it be the center shaft or the head shape? Or was I just on the groove that day? I will try the same putts with my other center shafted putter and see if I get the same results or was this a fluke. Miscellaneous (9 out of 10 points) Having had a long relationship with PING products, this was not a disappointment, the putter delivers what the company promised. The headcover is functional and is high quality as any other high-end OEM. Play it or Trade it? (19 out of 20 points) This has shot quickly into back up status/occasional gamer, this says a lot, since even though I love to try new stuff, it is uncommon for me to change equipment that often. Other models might appeal to a broader market since center shafted models are not that common of an offering by major OEM’s. Conclusion PING took a huge gamble on this model, center shafted putters are not a widely used putter. When struck center, this putter reminds me of well struck golf shots with muscle back blades. When I took this putter out, it made me concentrate on all parts of my putting stroke. The looks quickly grow on you, I hope the copper color gains a little patina. Little trivia, Arizona used to be a huge copper producer, wonder if that’s why they went with this color combo. Final Score: (92 out of 100 points)
  17. After switching about every 6-8 months, I found “The One”, 9 years 6 months. With a almost straight back stroke, this was NOT supposed to work for me, but when I saw this, I had to try it. The “T” alignment is so easy for me to align. 1 of 5 Byron Morgan GSS Experimental, the hosel was actually friction welded on
  18. The following applied trying to help me out: Sister-in-law= Rejected My mother= Rejected Neighbor= Rejected Guess am done until next year,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  19. For me it's looks and if it fits my stroke I bought a mint Scotty Cameron TEI 3 LOVE the look , yet my PING Anser 2 Stainless feels 10 times better.
  20. Any feedback of those with wide feet on how these fit?
  21. Had similar case once, I threw a hailmary and told him that I spoken with local my postmaster and would filing 18 U.S. Code § 1341 charges (Fraud and Swindles) Had my money in 5 days (np pay pal back in the 90's)
  22. While stationed in Arizona, Williams AFB (Chandler, about 20 miles from ASU) It was announced that if you volunteered to work crowd control for 2 days, you would get a free round at TPC Scottsdale, plus 4 free tickets to the tournament. Back then (1987-88) the 16th was beginning to be THE hole to party and have fun. While standing outside the "Birds nest" a huge tent/nightclub on the golf grounds, couple of us were talking to a police officer from the Scottsdale PD. The other military guy asked the officer what was one of their biggest problem besides drunks he said: "It's people sneaking out to the course to have intimate relations, you know, have sex. When see them, we sort of let it go, unless they go on the greens, that's a big no no". Anyone else have any funny events?
