  1. I'm assuming the bar is behind you here to help you through the tough and trying times of working on your game.
  2. TaylorMade TP5-X for me this year. Worked well for the back half of 2020, so no reason to go away from it.
  3. Agreed that we the golf fans that are freaks enough to be on golf specific forums are more educated about what the golfers/caddie are doing. A commentator saying that it is too analytical for a caddie and player to determine the correct target is really obnoxious and is a disservice to anyone learning how to play the game.
  4. It's the "fun" of this game. Shot to shot, hole to hole, there is a new challenge to conquer. Don't let your lows get too low. The challenge is always to find something that resembles a happy medium in your head. I'm also saying all this to myself as I haven't swung a club since October and am about to discover all of my new flaws for this season.
  5. I'm loving watching your hard work on Instagram and here. Keep plugging away. Your consistent practice will pay off. Really looking forward to hear about your lowered scores due to all your hard work.
  6. Just a little addition to my thoughts on the watch. I had not used the watch since my last round of golf in October. I charged the watch and powered it on today and had to reset the date and time. I didn't have to do that any other time the battery died after multiple rounds, so perhaps the long hibernation was a reset of everything. Not the worst thing in the world to deal with, but a minor annoyance if you are pulling out the watch to play a round of golf and haven't had the time to make sure everything is up and running.
  7. You and me both. I love relearning how to play this game every spring.
  8. Looking forward to this. What a great way to start the season for some of us hacks! Aka - thank you for not looking for the lowest score.
  9. Nice work! For sure need to buy more putters...to complete the look Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  11. It's been waaayyyy too long of an absence for me on this forum. Boy, do I miss you guys and gals. I've been super busy with all amazing and happy stuff in my personal life and it was preventing me from being here in my normal manner. So please indulge me as I share my good news/excuses for my lack of participation 1. I took a promotion at work and am now leading a team in an area of the business that I have minimal experience. I am learning every day, am wiped out mentally due to all of the learning, and loving every second of it. 2. My wife and I welcomed our first child into the world on 11/2/2020. Mackenzie Michelle. She's now 5 months old, and I cannot imagine what my life was like before her. Also, big shout out to @jlukes for the recommendation on the Baby Merlin Magic Sleep Suit. It has worked wonders for us. 3. We bought a new house and have been fixing it up for the better part of the last 4 months. Caring for a newborn and remodeling is quite a challenge, but we are very close to completing most of the major indoor tasks. 4. I was accepted into an MBA program and am going back to school. That type of learning is tough because it has been at least a decade since I had to do any sort of school work. 5. We are closing on the sale of our old house on Tuesday. It's going to be wonderful to be completely finished with the old home and fully in the new home. Thankfully things are calming down with my project list, right on time for the beautiful weather and the courses to open up. Looking forward to sharing my attempts to hack the ball around the course and hearing your tales as well.
  12. My golf season is over, but I'll be using the watch next season.
  13. Review is complete! Please feel free to follow up with questions at any time. This was a fun product to test because it has so many different features to explore.
  14. Welcome to MGS, @PurePuttsGolf. Fun question as you can see the varied responses. I would say having unrealistic expectations. Managing your expectations, based on your abilities, will allow you to have the most amount of fun on the course, and can provide a clear pathway to improvement.
  15. I have not experienced the same concerns as you with the battery. For example, this week, I began with a full charge on Wednesday morning, wore the watch as my every day watch through Saturday, and played two nine hole rounds. I still have about 5% of battery life now. I'm really impressed on my end, but can understand your concern if it is not lasting for a 4.5hr round.
  16. The only reason I can see the question being needed is that the watch doesn't often advance automatically to the next hole.
  17. 300yd drives. I gotta give myself the best chance to score the lowest number possible, and that's what distance does. I'll gladly three putt once or twice per round if it meant I was hitting 300yd drives.
  18. I agree, it would be nice to have a way to turn that feature off. Sometimes the question will pop up when I'm near the green waiting to hit a chip shot, sometimes it'll pop up as I am moving to the next hole, and sometimes it'll pop up when I'm playing my approach shot. I can't figure out what triggers it to ask that question as it doesn't seem to have a consistent timing between starting a new hole and the question popping up on the watch screen.
  19. This part is essential!! I had an early morning appointment. Fortunately, my doctor prescribed me shots of tequila and then sleep the rest of the day. I followed doctors orders. Worked quite well. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  20. LASIK was such an awesome investment for my overall quality of life. I no longer need to worry about contacts/glasses and can just wake up and go with my day. As to my golf game, it has helped me accurately track how far out of bounds my ball travels. Overall, I am a better judge of distances, can see undulations in the green more accurately, and have an overall better experience on the course. I never have to worry about losing a contact, or having it dry out. The only "side effect" I have is that my eyes are more sensitive to light than in the past, so I wear sunglasses for almost every round, even if it is cloudy or grey.
  21. It's kind of funny you mention this. The data in Arccos was causing me to be overly analytical, but in all reality it's a variety of FCB numbers related to slope and wind. With the watch, I find that I appreciate needing to do a little math on my approach shots to know what I need to to do give myself the best opportunity to land it on the green, rather than moving the cursor to various parts of the green in Arccos and trying to remember all of those numbers. I wonder if different presentations of information allow various people to analyze things the best way for their thinking style.
  22. A quick update from the week: Played in my league round (9 holes) and enjoyed the data the watch provided. On the course, the data pops up quickly, and allows me to make decisions in a timely manner. I have really begun to use the "IntelliGreen" screen on every approach shot. It allows me to know my bare minimum to cover the front of the green, as well as how much room I have behind the flag. I have started to make better club selections because of the new information. The watch booted up quickly in finding the course and that concern seems to have diminished the more I use the watch. I have not tried to find a course yet that I have not previously downloaded, so unsure how that will work. I played in a scramble on Saturday, and my group enjoyed all the data the watch provides beyond FCB numbers. Knowing how long it was to carry bunkers, or how far it was to certain out of bounds. The brightness of the screen was very handy on the grey and cloudy day. I'm enjoying the information provided on the screen, the easy scoring on the watch, and the way it feels almost non-existent on my wrist. I am also wearing it as an every day watch and have to still get used to the size. I've noticed that I bump the watch on objects because I'm not spatially aware yet of how far the watch sticks out compared to other watches I have worn.
  23. Injuries just stink. Flat out. I hope your elbow won’t prevent you from being a keyboard warrior in here. The gif game is always fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
