  1. Funny you mention that. I had a day of pretty decent fog just a couple of weeks ago and with the hybrid, I was the only guy with any kinda number. I was a popular cart partner that morning. (No, I don't work for Bushnell.)
  2. Late to the game but I find the Bushnell Hybrid to be actually a game improvement device. Here is why. Ever been between clubs? Been 170yrds out with 160 and 180 yard clubs in your bag? Knowing the distance from the front or back of the green to the pin can help you make the right club selection. If you know the course and greens, it really helps. Say your 160 out (that's all you get from standard lasers) to the pin but the pin is in the back of the green. Bushnell hybrid will tell you the front of the green is 140 and the back is 175. The 160 club would put you well onto the green but 180 would put you off the back. You can also custom mark spots on the green like the lip of a steep ridge to multi-platformed greens. You can mark a carry distance to get you up onto that second tier. Golf is a not a distance game. It's a target game. Scoring is all about the GIRs. And if you are average to struggle at putting, quality GIRs matter. Quality GIRs come from confident full and repeatable swings on approach shots. It is pricey but I found it to be worth price.
  3. I was just going to post this video. I don't use the line. I think it creates a crutch that can become too dependent. I have more faith in my ability to see/hit a line from stepping back behind the ball. I use the completely black side of the ball up. Squating over it, I think it's as likely to give you a line a few degrees just off line as on the correct line. And that's enough to miss most mid-range length putts. And of course, a line with any decent amount of break in it, the line changes with the speed of the putt made. You could play less break and more speed and have the ball bang the back of the cup of more break and less speed and have the putt fall in the side door. Bottom line, putting is about feel. Visual aids can distract from that, IMHO.
  4. I had Arcoss, and not a fan for many reasons I have posted in other threads but... You don't need to have the phone in your front pocket. Back is fine and in the cart, as long as it's close enough to pick up the blue tooth connection is fine too. 15-20', I would guess.
  5. Joyzee.... Dude, I hope you enjoy the crap out of this gizmo. But.... Russ to your point.... I had the last generation of this tracker. It should be really be called a distractor. All I really hoped to get out of it was my rounds mapped. I know what I hit my full swing distances. I had no interest in really pouring over data to learn things I already knew about my game. But when I first got it, I spend more time jacking around with the phone than I did focusing on the game I was playing. Eliminating shots from when I dropped my SW on the green to putt or when I hit a chunky practice swing the device thought was me hitting the ball. So, after the 6th round or so, I decided to just put the damn app on, put the phone in my pocket and play golf. I didn't look at the thing until after the round. Glory BE! I hit a 385yrd drive on the first hole. I didn't remember that but it's right there on the screen. I must have. DAAAAYUM! Well, not so much. The pitching wedge sensor had fallen off and It counted my drive, missed the wedge and counted my putt as the location of the next strike. The only thing the saw was driver - putter. So I called the customer service, they sent me a new one and a few extra, very cool, and they suggested I super glue the sensor onto the grip. Eh, I re-grip my clubs every year... what then? I could buy replacement sensors for $10. Well, I am not spending another $130 to get replacement sensors. So no glue. Well, at the end of the season, I had two left on the irons, the driver and the 3w, I think. At the end of the day, I didn't think the data was worth a damn because it can't factor in a large number of variables. A choke down 9i into the wind will skew the data. But so will the full shot PW that didn't make the green into that same wind. As the crow flies, I am 189 out but it's up hill all the way and I need more club..... skew. Short irons, the data was the worse, to the point its useless. Full shots, bump & runs, chips, flops.... Oh and lag a putt from 10' off the apron... eh, not a putt but how do you account for that? I found the constant in-game maintenance distracting to my game and irritating to my playing partners. It was like playing with a guy on work related calls all round. Bottom line, I realized I already had a map of my rounds... it's called a scorecard.
  6. I have 6 rounds in now with the 3 piece Costco Ball. I play one round a week at a low lying course that has several holes that no matter how much rain we have had, the fairways are pretty wet.. I play a second round at THE best draining course in the area. Because both rounds are played in the early mornings, conditions are always a little damp..... for context. It's also been fairly cold but that seems to be behind us now. Half of the rounds have been played in warm temps. I find the ball to be fairly straight off the tee on good contact. I found it more difficult to create a draw than with the ProVx I normally play. It's definitely not as long. Mid-irons were fine and wedges rolled out more than I expected, a lot less spin. It's very durable. There were hardly any blemishes on the surface. This is a good ball for a middle of the road swing speed. 90-105 with the driver. This isn't an elite ball. It's a Titleist Velocity, Srixon S-star or a Calloway Super Soft. If you're going to be trying to work the ball and spin it, you're still looking for a Calloway Chrome or Titleist ProV.
  7. For me, it's the Bionic glove. I absolutely love the feel of the grip on the club. If it doesn't feel comfortable with these gloves on, you should have a pro assess your grip.
