  1. Fresh out of the box - but unfortunately not out on the course yet - the brand new Bag Boy Volt. I've had an Alphard eWheels connected to a BagBoy Quad for a number of years and really loved it. Unfortunately I broke a wheel on the cart (don't ask...) and replaced it with the Alphard three wheel cart - and was not a fan. I really thought BagBoy had all the little details right. So when my eWheels battery quit charging as all batteries will do with enough use I was forced to make a decision - replace the battery inside the unit, or go hunting for a new machine. When I saw BagBoy was introducing an electric cart I stopped looking and stayed patient. Well, sort of. As I said, I haven't been outside yet. I haven't seen one in the wild yet. But they answered enough of my questions I thought I'd give it a go. I will document my experience here - and invite any and all to chime in. But for today - its just unboxing. Lots of cardboard to keep everything secure Of course the Battery is the thing... Comes with what looks like a standard charger that could be used with lots of different devices. You just push a button and the batter disengages - has a built in handle to take it in to your garage or whatever and charge it right up. No experience yet on charge time - it was 3/4 charged when it arrived. You can see - or rather not see - the brains and mechanics are pretty well hidden. The remote is pretty compact - no belt clip and you'll see why in a moment. Comes with a USB C cord - looks like half a dozen I've got in the junk drawer... The remote has a couple of place to be stored, stuck, jammed, set in/on the cart dashboard - so no belt clip The dashboard is where you can adjust the straight line speed - that is what it is doing when you are not clicking on the remote to get it go faster or slower, or turn. When the "drive" function is engage is has an automatic brake - and you are NOT pushing it. So you can see I have it dialed up to speed 4 - you do that with that little dial knob - below the remote holder and above the two buttons. I think it's funny that it has a total distance and a tripometer. Pushing and holding a button then kicks it into "manual mode" for when you want to release the brake and push it. One of the things I was most interested in was "where do I keep my stuff?" from scorecards to tees, to just stuff. I always liked the BagBoy Quad and found the Alphard very lacking in this area. So while this doesn't move the cart - to me it's important. If you are going to be out there walking you need a place for your stuff... You can see below on the right that they made a place to fit the remote in when you aren't using it or having it outside stuck in the top of the dashboard. I know this seems like a small thing - but you need a drink holder big enough for your usual bottle of choice - for me it's this typical gatorade/power ade size, or a diet dew. Again, I've found others lacking in this area. Nothing more frustrating than having a cheap, poorly sized drink holder. Won't hold my thermos but I'll be fine. Has an extendable rear wheel to avoid tipping. Pushes in for going in the trunk and extends while in use. Tipping is a major problem for me. My bag is light and consequently my carts are always prone to tipping backwards. Don't laugh - but this pouch is a big deal - store a couple sleeves of balls, wad up and shove in a vest or light jacket... just like the Quad. Once you get used to something you had to give it up. Folded up - 29'x16.5" x 14.5" - so fairly compact for electric carts. But as I've been talking about being Quad like - it just a tad bit too big to fit in my Quad carry bag. Trivial I know - but keeps the grass out of my trunk and it a good place to hoard, I mean organize, more stuff... So I have some figuring to do. Front wheel can spin and is removable. Everything out of the box So - it works great in my basement... as soon as I get it outside you all will know. Any questions - or anyone else with experience with the Volt - please share.
  2. This was sitting on my porch when I got home tonight… BagBoy Volt
  3. Like all the above - love yoga and find it to be very beneficial. I specifically took it up to help w mobility and flexibility in my golf game. But today I’d keep doing it even if I was told I could never golf again. Good for the body and mind. one suggestion - while I know there are a million videos on line, find a class and instructor. A good one will give you subtle cues in class that make all the difference. And don’t worry if you feel like you don’t know what you are doing, or can’t get into a pose. A) no one cares, B) everyone was there once. Depending on where you live, you can often find classes on the MindBody or Momence apps. Look for a beginner class but don’t be afraid to jump into an intermediate flow. my personal favorite is Astanga (half primary series) it’s the same flow every time. Very meditative because you know where you are going. Builds core strength and some heat. I also love a hot class, but I know that’s not for everyone. I also like a good yin class in the evening.
  4. Ooooh.... I like the looks of that. I had my Alphard connected to a BagBoy Quad - and loved the set up - but broke a wheel and thats why I'm in the market. I liked the pouch, the enclosure on top - and all that appears intact on the Volt. However, one of the most import things to me is the size when it's folded up. i'm comparing it to the MotoCaddy M7 - which is a bit shorter, but a bit wider.... decisions, decisions. I wish someone had a review on here. Some real world experience on hills, turning, etc...
  5. Putting putting putting... my coach has me working on bringing my elbows in closer to my body. My mental cue is actually to have them graze my ribs. Trying to get more "gate" action with the putter. I've always kinda locked my elbows in place well out from my sides, so this is definitely a very different feel. I'm trying not to look at the putter as it rocks back and forth because I see it opening and closing. But I'll say this - my longer putts are much better. Easier to generate more speed without pulling. So a good start to the weeks' practice.
  6. Sunrise... though they usually won't let me on before 7am...
  7. I'm looking to replace my Alphard (Ive had it for years and it needs a new battery and so I'm hoping around before I do that. I'd never heard of a QOD. Looks interesting - the wheel base is larger in the front? My question is - who does it handle hills?
  8. Give them to the pro at my club to be given to a coach or a kid on the high school teams who may need them. Have two high schools that practice at our course and though I complain about them beating up the range there is always a kid I’m sure can use something they otherwise can’t afford.
  9. I think I've had a good month - elliptical Mon-Fri; Yoga Sat/Sun; and 15-20 minutes with a kettlebell every other day (alternate with my Stack days). Definitely getting better w the kettle bell. Don't stick w a set routine, but try different things each time I've found on instagram - but always focused on core.
  10. Step protocol - anyone else have trouble with this? I'm in the full speed spectrum right now. I can be humming along doing well, or every making some gains one the first three sets and then I get to the Step intent. Not only do I slow down (compared to what I think I should be with the lighter weight), but that slowness carries over to the final set. I know this should be helping me w my weight shift, etc... but it's causing me trouble. Anyone else experience that?
  11. I'm super intrigued. I really liked the 2nd gen link - the black one. Any problems I've had with it stem from a jacket hanging over it, typically in the rain; or getting it to stay clipped to my pocket - also in the rain. I know there are some folks out there who apparently has some preview or beta versions - I'm curious how its done in a set of rain pants. Not your typical shorts - but rain pants.
  12. Last night during the Bills Chiefs game I had to spend the second half walking from the living room to the dining room to the kitchen to the bed room to the living room back and forth and back and forth to close my "movement" active calorie ring - but I kept the streak alive. The things we do... My watch battery had drained earlier in the day (whole other story) and so it turned off in my ashtanga yoga practice - didn't record the full class. So I know I'd burned 700 calories, but the watch etc didn't know that. But there is no place for an asterisk there - it would just show as a failure - so I walked around the house during every replay and commercial break just to keep the streak alive.
  13. Another week, another 7 days of closed Movement rings hitting my 700 active calories goal. Found more golf specific kettle bells to do as well. Two blizzards in the last week has thrown a wrench into my Stack routine and I'm losing "Grit" - though I think I'm due a little for snow shoveling 18 inches in -11* weather... but the app doesn't know that. On the plus side the Wordle streak remains alive as well - gotta exercise the brain as well as the body.
  14. When the Apple Watch first came out I scoffed at the notion of a phone on my wrist when I had one in my pocket. I’ve come to rely on it . Good for sleep tracking. Great for fitness. Never use it as a phone but I leave the phone in silent mode and get all my alerts on my wrist - good for the kind of work I do. And my wake up alarm just bumps my wrist, doesn’t wake up SheWhoMustBeObeyed at 5:30 am.
  15. I don't know what the "best" exercise or workout is - but I do know that doing something every day is better than doing nothing. To that end, keeping track of what you are doing I find to be a good motivator. I really like my Apple Watch - big improvement over my FItBit which never thought I was doing anything in a hot yoga class no matter who wiped out I was. With the AppleWatch more than the time spent exercising I'm motivated by how many "active" calories I've burned and did I close my "move" ring (red). My daily goal is 700. Eight days into the new year, eight daily goals met. Doesn't have to be Apple, but I strongly encourage anyone serious about improving their health adopting some way to track your activity in real time. Not just at the end of the day. But how am I doing at noon, or at 6pm, or at 9pm toward reaching my goal.... On more than one occasion I've been known to walk up and down the stairs at bed time until I hit my daily goal in active calories burned, just to close the ring, just to keep the streak alive. Accountability! (or may be obsessiveness...)
  16. Slow but steady. Nine months in. Goal for 2023 was to hit 100. Goal for 2024 is 110.
  17. My off season has always been Elliptical for 40 minutes first thing in the morning Mon-Fri followed by 30 min of stretching; with Hot Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga on Saturday and Sunday. I've decided that I need to incorporate more strength/resistence training beyond the yoga workouts. Age and desire to swing faster. My fitness goal for 2024 is to incorporate a kettle bell routine into that schedule with an every other day approach. Instagram has been a great source of suggestions on what to do w a kettle bell - I have one 35lb bell. My goal is to do 20-30 minutes every other day and on those days shorten either the elliptical or follow up stretching. The alternate days are Stack swinging days... So far the kettle bell has been a lot of chops, halos, rotational swings, lunges, single leg hip hinges, single arm presses and rows. The challenge of one bell; its either too heavy or too light for certain routines. But I do that ones I can - and that's better than not doing any at all. The thing I like about the bell is its fairly versatile - despite the statement above - and I can mix things up and not do the same thing every day.
  18. I'm experiencing a problem and wonder if anyone else has as well - the eWheels is fully changed, but won't turn on. Press the button and nothing. If I have it plugged into the charger and press the button it lights up - all the lights are one - but if I unplug it, then it instantly turns off. Two emails to Alphard have gone unanswered. Last month it just quit working while on the course. Stopped mid round. I assumed I had forgotten to charge it after the last round. Put it on the charger, waited for it to go from red to green; turned it on to make sure the "wheel of light" was all there. Good to go. Get it to the course, won't turn on...
  19. Sorry to hear that. That is encouraging. Another questions if I may - do you have to remove the battery to charge it, and/or fold up the cart? In some of the videos in this thread I saw it being removed before folding - I just wasn't sure if that was required to be able to fold up the cart. I've got an Alphard eWheels that is dying on me and I'm considering replacing it. Looking at the plus/minus of the different carts.
  20. Long term use question for you MotoCaddy M7users - after three seasons of use - how is the battery life? Have you seen degradation or are you still getting what you need? Anyone replaced the battery? @ole gray @BIG STU
  21. How much variation do you all see from swing to swing in any given set? In the final 195g I typically will see differences of 4-6mph from swing to swing. Sometimes 10-12 mph. Othertimes its just 1 or 2 mph difference. But typically its 4-6 mph. I chalk this up to poor form, and swing mechanics more so than strength or speed. A sudden throwing over the top for instance.
  22. Looks really interesting. Here is the problem I see - trunk space in the car. Obviously they had to lay the seats down. I have to put my bag in my car diagonally, and that's where I have trouble getting my eWheels into the trunk along with it. I like that they put a real emphasis on not tipping over. Moving the big wheels and the weight forward is a smart idea. Hurray for that. But not sure I like the idea of the "trolley" built into the bag. May work for some, but if you just grab the bag for practice, to the range whatever that may prove inconvenient. But maybe for some that is just fine. Good luck to them.
  23. Cold weather gloves are always a challenge. Its as if the laws of nature require a trade off between warmth and grip. My go to has always been the old FootJoy WinterSof black knits. I see FootJoy has something new this year - a combination of fleece and leather on the palm - https://www.footjoy.com/men/golf-gloves/stasof-winter-pair/000SSW.html?dwvar_000SSW_color=66801E#start=1 Has anyone given these a try? Anyone find the holy grail of warmth and tackiness?
  24. Today starts the annual 24 hours of soaking and salting our turkey. I’ve tried multiple brines over the years, citrus, bacon, etc… but with my brothers family coming over this year I’ve returned to my old favorite - the maple syrup turkey brine. What’s yours? Maple a syrup brine recipe below: 6 bay leaves 3 tbps peppercorns 2 cups kosher salt 16oz pure maple syrup 1 head of garlic 2 gallons of water Bring to a boil then let cool Wash turkey and remove insides. Submerge overnight.
