  1. I had a pair of Ecco with BOA and didn't particularly like them because I could not get the forefoot tight enough for my liking. I wear spikeless shoes and wear them out about every year to 1-1/2 years. I have had lace Ecco that were excellent. After the Ecco wore out I bought 2 pair of Adidas Code Chaos 22, one with laces and one with Boa. Totally different from the Ecco. I am able to get the exact tightness that I want, all the way through the forefoot. I actually prefer the Boa pair over the one with laces with this model. Heck yeah, if Adidas has a close-out sale on the Code Chaos 23 with Boa, I'd grab two pairs and not look back.
  2. I really liked these irons at the outdoor demo over the summer. I finally went indoors to do a full fitting for new irons, my Apex 19 Pro are well past worn. Started with the Cobra King Tour, really liked them and hit them consistently well, moved on to the Miz Pro 223 and 225. After going back and forth with these, I definitely hit the Pro 225 the best. Then, went on to try the i230 with the same shaft I'm currently using and was fit for, KBS C-Taper Lite. After hitting about 4 balls, the pro looked and me and said nope. I was all set to order the Pro 225 built 1 degree weak (I am not a fan of jacked lofts, especially when it gets down to Pw/Gw. Since Mizuno announced the new Pro models 241,243,245 that are available in January I decided to go with the Pro 245 2 degrees weak. You really need to try them all, side by side, in order to find out if they work for you and your game.
  3. @vandyland Regarding the bike. Yes, before doing this I asked the course if it was OK. They said treat it like a cart, don't ride up next to the greens, etc. The last couple years, since it's an e-bike, I have to pay an annual cart path fee similar to what homeowners with their own cart would pay. I don't have an issue with it since I probably save that much or more not using my car to go back and forth to the course. https://divnick.com/secure/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=78 This is where we got the bag carriers. It acts as a kick stand when off the bike. I find it best to use a smaller lightweight carry bag, as opposed to a bigger heavier cart bag.
  4. For decades I walked and carried, then moved to a push cart. Few years ago I converted a fat bike (now a fat e-bike) into my golf rig using Divnik golf bag carrier. It's freaking awesome. I ride the 3.5 miles from my house, ride it on the course, then ride the bike home. Sometimes I still do walk, like if it's going to rain. Couple years ago I moved from a push cart to an electric push with remote. So much less strain on the lower back and shoulders and way more like playing with a caddy than a regular push cart. The BatCaddy e-push cart works great for me. I, personally, don't like riding in a cart. I feel that you don't get the same flow of the game and that my back tends to tighten up while riding. I don't find the same tightness when riding my bike or walking. I was such a trend setter that my buddy copied the carrier on his fat bike.
  5. For those that don't know how to use a 60 or 64 degree wedge, I highly recommend Dave Pelz Short Game Bible and also attend one of his 3 day scoring schools. 3 swings (7:30, 9, 10:30) x 4 wedges = 12 distances, in my case 5 wedges = 15 distances. Actually it's more like 6 swings, since he differentiates between a wrist break swing vs no wrist break swing, the follow through is different too. That gives you 24 distances with a 4 wedge bag or 30 with 5 wedges. Bounce, maybe you need a fitter, a swing coach or learn more about it. For me, our course is fairly firm, as is our sand. I am more of a sweeper than a digger. Thus, low bounce works well for me. Pelz also was the one who determined that the biggest money winners on the tour are those that score best from 100 yards in. Something to think about. I dropped from an 11-12 handicap to a low of 5.4 last summer thanks to this methodology. I don't swing a club over the winter, hockey keeps me busy, so my HC goes up in the spring until I get back in the groove, goes down throughout the summer and fall until our season ends. I really need to setup a simulator in my garage.
  6. I've removed a long iron/wood from my bag to carry more wedges. My game is strongest at 120 yards in than it is trying to get on a green from 200+. My PW is 45, GW is 50 and I carry 56, 60, 64. Have gone through MANY different brands over the years. Previously I had Jaws MD5 50, 56, 60, 64. I wear out the grooves and replace my wedges about every 2 seasons, especially the 56 and 60. The 50 and 64 last longer. Currently I put back my set matched Apex 19 Pro GW (AW) and had Sub70 JB Raw Wedges. I play low bounce. Got them shafted with same as my irons, KBS C-Taper Lite R, tipped 1". These have similar grind to the Vokey M Grind. I also put a 64 back in my bag, the Vokey Wedgeworks 64W special edition. This I got with KBS 610 Wedge shaft. Man I love this club. I think when my Sub70 wear out, I'll go with Vokey for 56 and 60 and maybe even the 50. I'm due for a new set of irons after this season, going to all the demo days at the club this summer. I'll have to see where the PW sits with my new set. Even though I don't hit my irons all that far, I still prefer retro lofts over the jacked up lofts of newer sets. Look at the new Callaway Paradym. The PW is 42. They have GW at 52 but added another AW at 47. Their 4 iron is the same loft as a 2 iron back in they old days, and you had to be a damn good golfer to hit a 2 iron back then. Do you really have to hit a 9 iron 180? Many of the guys I play with will hit 1 or 2 clubs less than me, but when you look at the loft, they are the same or within 1 degree. A lot of it is a marketing game around the technology.
  7. Used to have a lot of Puma, UA but a couple years ago Kjus had a sale (buy 1 get 2 free) and they are the best. I also really like Linksoul shirts and shorts, they are my go to shorts. More recently I found out about TASC. TASC has bamboo in the mix and are some of the softest shirts ever. Hard to beat the Rhoback designs as well, very well made and comfortable. And since we have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, I could not resist getting one of their shirts.
