  1. Thanks - I have some family friends spread from Providence to Newport. Next time we head down maybe I'll see if I can check it out. Thanks for the recommendation. I don't know anything about True Spec but I certainly trust your recommendation enough to try it if I can't get to Spargo before it opens. EDIT: Looks like True Spec is open in Boston already and is about 10 minutes from my office. I'll definitely be checking them out soon. Do you have any experience ordering clubs through them? Previous experiences had a markup on the clubs compared to buying them elsewhere, wondering if that's true at all fitters.
  2. The heat isn't for me, the humidity even more so. The football team on the other hand.... Played a heck of a game to back up some of that smack talk (at least the sound bites that made it all the way up here). Hope they can continue to play that well for the rest of the year. I'm a sucker for a good defense, love how they play fast and aggressive. Football is better with more competitive teams in the mix.
  3. It's true, it's not a short list of veterans who couldn't work the playbook. I do think JG would still be ok here. If all he does is chase a jump ball on the sidelines or red zone it's still a net gain. Possibly Cordarrelle Patterson 2.0 situation.
  4. Couldn't agree more. Great temperatures and absolutely gorgeous time to be outside. Falling leaves to claim a few more balls than normal, but it's well worth the offerings to the golf gods.
  5. Not sure if this is the right thread, but anyone recommend a fitter in Mass?
  6. Let's see if he can get his head on straight - excited to see what he can do with the Pats.
  7. I hesitated posting because that was my gut feeling, but I couldn't find a confirmation. As the tool continues to grow that list will change and users would need to track down multiple testing posts.
  8. Is there a list of the drivers this takes into account when fitting? If I was going to test/buy it would be reassuring the know if the one I was eyeing after my own efforts was on the list. I'm no expert, but many of us are drawn to what looks shiny or fits our preference for look. If the "pretty and shiny" one wasn't included, this would still be worth using - X is likely the best performing for me, if Y wasn't included but I wanted to try it I have an optimized performer to compare it to. A date of "Drivers released up to X date" were included in this fitting/version would even work for this purpose.
  9. I'm curious, how do you feel about Patricia? All I've heard in New England is players don't like him working them hard and setting a bunch of rules. Then watching then completely quit makes me wonder - has he lost the locker room already? Are the players just there for a pay check and don't want to put in work or is he actually being a monster? I was never crazy about him in New England, but he always had the image of having buy in from the team. I live in a bit of a bubble in New England. The tidbits I hear about other teams makes the players sound like a bunch of divas who don't want to put in the work to prepare the right way. Reading some of the Jets comments after the game, did the offensive coordinator really not change the playbook or signals from last year?
  10. Thanks for the write up on these, glad to hear they do more than just look pretty You mentioned you didn't notice enough of a change to upgrade from the 900s - if you were buying a new set today would you go for the 900s at a slight discount or grab the 919s?
  11. I've had to make a very focused effort to set expectations and timelines at the beginning of any project because of this very issue. I also make a checklist so why it takes X amount of time to do Y is made clear.
  12. Best of luck - Sounds like the buyer is being a putz. Is the buyer new to owning a house? I ask because what HG TV lovers expect in their first home buying process can be interesting. That channel one of the worst things to ever happened to my wife and wallet. My fallback when I went through "Buyer" vs "Seller" talks was - I will work with you on safety and health concerns. If you want to change anything else you're free to do so when you own it.
  13. I like the look. With all the shine it's hard to tell how the form will be looking at it from all angles, but it's a good teaser.
  14. I'm excited to hear what your impression is. I looked online, but no demo days near me for Mizuno. Will have to wait until a nearby store has some they'll let me test.
  15. Went through a full bucket today working on 130 and under. Warmed up with my highest wedge through 9 iron - full swings to get warm and get some good striking going. Next was partial swing distances with each club Lastly was picking a target, and hitting with 3 different clubs on 1 attempt each. New target repeat. Honestly, it went so much better than I expected. I was hitting the ball well and getting some nice clusters around the various targets. Not perfect, but seeing what I can hesitantly call improvement has me excited to play my next round.
  16. This beats work every time. 2nd group out this morning.
  17. This situation is one that makes you frustrated just reading about it, I can't imagine sorting through each event in person. Best of luck and please keep us updated if you are able to get anything close to a resolution.
  18. Played over the weekend. Started slightly annoyed the pro shop didn't inform us the greens were just aerated. Proceeded to play a solid front 9 and completely fell apart on the back. Putting was a complete crap shoot. It's normally where I can pick up strokes on my round, but between each green having vastly different speeds and the ball bouncing like a monster truck wrecking cars, it was a challenge. I ended with 6 x three putts. It's possible I was mentally inconsistent, focusing too much on the green condition and not enough on my swing. Blaming myself is much less fun though, the green conditions are 100% why my putting was in the dumpster. Personal performance aside, it was a beautiful day out and the rest of the course was great. We've had a stretch of relief from the heat in Ma and it has made being outside so much more enjoyable. I didn't ever see another group ahead or behind us and it was fantastic feeling like we had the course to ourselves. Thank goodness golf can manage to be fun regardless of the scorecard.
  19. The single blue stripe or the four blue stripe? Looks like the free towels they have out for caddies to take provided by the course. Two links for similar varieties https://www.towelhub.com/wholesale/athletic_gym_towels/656-22x44_blue_stripe_gym_bath_towel.html https://wholesaletowel.com/product/center-stripe-hand-towel-16x27/ EDIT: Noticed I missed "red" in your post - the picture wasn't working so took a shot from memory. Same towels can be done in red. EDIT2: Yes, Towel Hub is safe for work....
  20. Oh no, attack of the giant Corona! Nothing much to add, your picture reminded me of this one:
  21. I hope Jimmy G continues to crush it this year. Pats will always be #1 in my heart, but growing up idolizing Montana firmly cemented the 9er's as #2.
  22. And today you taught me to repair my marks correctly. Cheers
  23. It's already been said, but came to caution you about the time, effort and cost of maintaining your own green. The guy from Fried Eggs Golf built his own with his parents and has some videos about it. Below is just one of them, but I'm sure he'd respond if you wanted to reach out for more details. From what I know it's almost exactly what you are looking to build. He did it on his parents land and I think his dad is retired and does the upkeep. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q01cQBSR9Y EDIT: Man, 5 minutes late to recommend FEG - leaving it because why not.
