  1. My wife and I decided that this year we would get each other one gift for Christmas and really focus on the grandkids. So I told her "all I want is a box of golf balls". Now I can be a bit of a penny pincher, tightwad (you get the point), when it comes to golf balls. I do most of my ball shopping in the slice zones, ponds or in the high grass. But she did a good job and gave me a dozen Titleist ProV1X. Not sure if I will ever play them though.
  2. As a Williamsburg resident, I play the Green course quite often. It is a very fun course to play and yes, nothing special about it. But the fairways are in great shape with plenty of mounds to funnel your ball to the middle. One day I'll play the Gold course, but I just can't justify paying that rate when there are so many golf courses in this area. And if you like Brickshire, I would highly recommend checking out Royal New Kent Golf Club in Providence Forge, VA. It's about a 45 minute drive from Williamsburg going towards Richmond.
  3. Bad Birdie has a Black Friday 40% discount on shirts https://badbirdiegolf.com/
  4. Just finished our 3rd Annual Weekend of Golf in Ocean City Maryland. This year we had a great group of guys 16 player. Fridays round was played at The Links at Lighthouse Sound in OC MD. There were a few showers just before our noon tee time of the first group. Luckily the rain only lasted about 20 minutes. But the course was beautiful and in great shape. Saturdays round was at Baywood Greens, Long Neck Delaware. My absolute favorite, this was our second year playing at Baywood Greens. I highly recommend this course for anyone looking for a beautiful and challenging course on the East Coast. Our final round was at the Links at Rum Pointe, in Berlin MD. Another absolutely course we've played a second time. Lots of opportunities to score well on this course.
  5. There's nothing like a good Straight Bourbon to help me relax after a fun round of golf. About four years ago, I found Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch and not only is a really good bourbon, the story of behind this product is fantastic. If you don't know the story, check out this link. The Story of Nearest Green
  6. We played in the Save the Girls Breast Ball Tournament at Ford's Colony Golf Club. Figured we'd get some shirts since we were a team.
  7. Last Friday we ditched the office at about 2pm and decided to play at Ford's Colony, Black Heath Course in Williamsburg Virginia. We got a twilight rate since it was after 2pm. The weather was about 75 degrees with a nice breeze, great day for golf. We go right out to tee box #1, no warm-up, tried to stretch a little and get a few practice swings in before teeing off. None of that helped. I pulled out driver and topped the first ball, it rolled about 50 yards and just made it past the ladies tees. That kind of set the tone for the rest of the round. Between the foursome, we had one par hole and the rest was just frustration. But no matter how frustrating that round was, we still had a great time just playing golf. Next round is Saturday probably at Royal New Kent Golf Club or Viniterra Golf Club.
  8. Hello golfers! So I've finally decided to update my profile and to participate in this forum more often. So here goes. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? - I started playing golf in my forty's and now I'm 61 (this April). Not a great golfer or even a good golfer, but I love the game and I normally score in the high 90's. What do you love about golf? - For me the best part of playing this game is being outdoors either by myself enjoying nature or with a group of my buddies talking trash. Or course with golf there is a level of frustration when I hit a bad shot, but the heavens open up and the sun shines a little brighter when I smoke one down the fairway or get on the green in two. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? - I joined MyGolfSpy probably 10 years ago, but just never took the time to participate. That is about to change. Where are you from? What is your home course? - I live in Williamsburg Virginia. I don't really have a home course because there are so many courses to play in this area. My favorite courses however are The Green Course at Golden Horseshoe and Royal New Kent in Providence Forge. And once a year (usually in the Fall) a group of us take a trip to Ocean City, Maryland for a weekend golf outing. This year we plan to plan to play at Baywood Greens Golf Course in Delaware, The Links at Lighthouse Sounds Golf Course and The Links at Rum Pointe Golf Course in OC Maryland. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? - The courses here are absolutely beautiful in the Spring Summer and Fall, but Winter golf can be messy and cold. What do you do for a living? - For my daytime job I'm a Senior Systems Administrator for a closed network. In the evenings I'm a couch potato. How’d you pick your user name? - Lack of creativity.
