  1. Congratulations on the promotion and new assignment Alan. With Michigan having won** the national title, your cup runneth-over. Good luck.
  2. We recently started watching New Tricks series. Older British series have long been a favorite of ours.
  3. I think that is exactly what Matt Fitzpatrick was referring to in his comments about why the OWGR system is not a system that reflects reality. In no universe not involving massive use of narcotics is DJ #247 .
  4. Probably. What's great is that if trying to emulate it for one's golf game doesn't pan out, it doubles as the Texas Two-step .
  5. Thanks everyone! I now finally own an Eleanor Mustang!
  6. Top of the pot spies! Looks like another fantastic early spring day here in the Valley of the Sun. Men's league play today at Cimarron. Individual low net & skins plus round one of the "White Tank Tournament" qualifier. This is a 4 round event that starts late spring and runs through August with each of the four communities hosting a round. The qualifying rounds get the best 16 players who can play the events over summer (lots of players leave for northern latitudes) plus substitutes. I missed all this last year due to the back muscle issue... but hopefully I can make the team this year. Have a great "hump day" all! Good vibes and prayers sent to @Dead Solid Bogeyand @Erin B
  7. I am hearing of a new hybrid grass that is being tested here in the Phoenix area, and that survives and looks great all year round. If the traditional "overseeding" process could be avoided, that would reduce costs and reduce course downtime. It purportedly requires less water!
  8. One of the courses in MT often had bale rows if you happened to be playing at the wrong time. The ROI on the robotic mowing operation looks pretty steep at present time and that is largely due to the upfront cost. Unless that changes, I wouldn't expect to see many courses we play switching over - except perhaps limited applications and part of evaluation. Our 4 courses here lease all of the mowing and related ancillary equipment...to the tune of ~$900k/yr. That seems like a lot until one compares to the how many $200k+ robotic mowers would be needed to maintain the courses.
  9. Anyone seeing these on courses? How far are we from this technology supplementing or replacing conventional course mowing? Here's a interesting article from the USGA on the subject. None too happy about their ball rollback decision but good to see them studying advancements such as this. Here is a course just outside Scottsdale that has implemented some robotic mowers. But, according to this article, a course in the UK is the first in the world to become "fully managed" by robotic mowers. Thoughts?
  10. Just catching the highlights... yea, that lip out was a real kick in the willy. Xander's driver ghosted him on Sunday and while I would have liked him to win, I was pulling for Harman down the stretch as I've always liked him and his gritty game. Also, because both Clark and Scheffler have just won and wanting to spread the wealth so to speak.
  11. One of the guys in my Saturday group had purchased a Stealth only to return to 2nd Swing inside the 30 day period. He now has the Qi10 Max and it looks to have finally retired the G400. I was pretty consistently 15 yards longer but that gap has closed. Looks like the "quest for 10000" is showing itself on the course.
  12. I'm pretty certain the Finau's required Tony wear a collared shirt while hitting balls into (and through) the mattress in the garage. I doubt anyone on the forum is wanting attire requirements be an impediment to someone being able to afford/play the game. My closet and drawers are full of polos and dress shorts purchased at steep discount prices... principally because I'm cheap and think they are WAY overpriced to begin with. If someone puts in a little effort, I have a hard time believing cost of golf attire would keep them from being able to play.
  13. Yes, but there is the chance to get $200.
  14. Who's done it, who's going to do it, who's tempted? PXG now doubling the "Black Op's Driver Challenge". Bob Parson is most definitely putting his money where his mouth is. This is quite an offer/marketing blitz. Presuming there is no Tom Foolery going on in the background, as in LM settings, and no mandatory purchase if the data shows improvement, this is a no lose proposition. I have tested a couple of previous generation PXG drivers and they were equal to and slightly better than my G410P. I'm in the "tempted" group and might schedule a fitting test at the Glendale store.
  15. The B/W tees at our 4 courses averages right at 6050 yards and seems to match up well for me. Depending on course layout (which is a factor in answering this question IMO), I think I could stretch it to the 6200 length. Much beyond that and it usually makes a couple par 3's and 4's too penalizing.
  16. I've thought the same on these type situations because we've seen cases where live footage has been used to penalize the player after the score is posted. But, I think @revkevmakes a great point that cases like these cannot even be helped by the camera - sue to limited angles. I also think that unless there is a gross amount of dispute amongst the playing group, that it is not worth "nit-picking".
  17. I've worn jeans on courses in Montana because showing up in a pair of skinny man dress pants draws strange looks from the cows .
  18. Maybe more like excessive amounts of alcohol...which usually results in bad decorum and even worse play...and some really don't need to double down on the last part . I mean it's clear that for some booze and cigars are as important as the golf itself. So long as they don't adversely affect others out on the course (poor behavior, pace of play, burn marks on greens, etc.), to each their own. Getting back to dress codes, I will say that when the LIV/PGAT marriage vows are complete, I suspect they will include the option to wear dress shorts.
  19. I don't think it is outdated. I like seeing neatly dressed folks on the course. Many restaurants and other venues have dress code requirements and there is nothing wrong with that IMO.
  20. Thanks to Bridgestone and our MGS staff!! Good luck everyone!
  21. It's great seeing the testers from both the milled and non-milled putters providing updates after the final reviews . While my Seven T CH has had two benchings, they have been very brief and each time it has found its way back into my bag. What is pretty cool is that the small performance gains I saw in my H2H tests look to be showing in my average scoring and index. I stopped at DaGolfLab the other day to see if they had a couple spare club boxes I could have (making a travel box for fly rod cases for a Canada fishing trip) and the owner happened to be holding an Odyssey AI Milled putter. We got to talking about these and the face technology. He's been in the golf equipment business for a few decades and said "the AI milled face technology in these putters and other club faces is one of the best, no baloney improvements he's seen". No arugment from me.
