It's great seeing the testers from both the milled and non-milled putters providing updates after the final reviews . While my Seven T CH has had two benchings, they have been very brief and each time it has found its way back into my bag. What is pretty cool is that the small performance gains I saw in my H2H tests look to be showing in my average scoring and index.
I stopped at DaGolfLab the other day to see if they had a couple spare club boxes I could have (making a travel box for fly rod cases for a Canada fishing trip) and the owner happened to be holding an Odyssey AI Milled putter. We got to talking about these and the face technology. He's been in the golf equipment business for a few decades and said "the AI milled face technology in these putters and other club faces is one of the best, no baloney improvements he's seen". No arugment from me.

I just forwarded that same video to my son. Managung misses in the biggest key to lower scores. I hit 11/14 fairways yesterday but all three misses still resulted in GIR.
True dat. There are misses and there are MISSES . I drove the ball really well today and had a few that were quite long and left in the rough... but they really did not hurt me. Right now the Bermuda rough isn't too pemalizing... ask me how this plays out this summer .

41/36 at Granite Falls South men's league today, taking 1st place with a +5 to quota. I went birdie/par/birdie/birdie on holes 14-17. The 20+ foot putt on #17 par 3 being a bit of a gift from the golf God's, but only fair after two lip outs on prior par 3's; one for a DB .

Not disputing that GIR, on average, produce better scores but FIR also seem to help. The chart @GolfSpy MPR shared highlights that. It's been my experience that, more often than not, seeing lots of "F" & "G" annotations on my card go hand in hand with my best scores. Hitting out of the rough another 20+ yards closer can make the difference in getting the GIR.

So, good morning, Spies!
Quiet day at home today. I'm catching up on Friday and Saturday API coverage. I may just skip the main broadcast for now and check out Full Swing S2 instead. We'll see.
Everyone have a fantastic day.
Happy birthday to my dad (who's not on here, but im saying it anyway), who turns a young 83 today. That's him after hitting a hole in one last Jume. That's us on the 18th when he was visiting me in AZ a couple of years ago.

Witnessing your Dad's ace... like winning the friggin lottery... how cool!!
Good Sunday morning to everyone. Two mugs down and a third may be in the works . Nothing on the schedule today and, following last nights not so great sleep, that's a good thing. An afternoon nap is already sounding good .

Top of the pot spies . I'm working on mug #2 of McD's McCafe. My wife started buying their canned ground years ago and it has become our mainstay. While visiting with us this past week, my BIL kept commenting on how much he liked the coffee. We revealed the source and he said "no wonder" . He didn't know they made a for retail coffee... my sister responded "how would you, you never do the shopping" .
My wife is heading out to our community garage sale ahead of me because I slept in. No worries, I'll mosey over in a little bit and still find the deal of the day. I should be able to get a workout in before the 1215 tee time at Granite Falls South... an exhausting, demanding schedule at times .
Have a great weekend everyone!
Best wishes to @Girldad18 and @ILMgolfnut

That was @J7Hawkinsthat made the ace. I'm still looking for my first and making "close encounter" posts .

It's still available . I'm guessing it did not clear the reserve price. Be on the lookout for my GoFundMe .
I also have found that Mecum does not disclose winning bids outside of the auction floor and here is some info on the "Bid Goes On". We were hearing and seeing quite a few of those "bid goes on" on Thursday. My brother has been reading that the used car market/auction has softened quite a bit the past year+. Perhaps this is a good time to shop for that dream ride?

Morning all! Yesterday was an eventful day with wind gusts at 20 mph on the golf course. However, things turned around on hole 14 (161 yard par 3) when I hit 9i and caught the slope of the green putting it straight in for an ACE. My second ace in the last year! Of course the rest of my day was spent buying drinks at the club and shaking hands haha. I feel like I needed the boost from the ace as I’ve been struggling a bit with my game haha. Have a great one! Oh, and I was using the Snell MTB Prime X that I bought with the MGS discount!
Congratulations on the Ace!! Two in one year and many of us, including myself, still searching for the first one and a ticket out of the Still Aceless Thread.

That looks amazing. I’d love hear what it sold for as well.
It still has yet to go on stage today but thus far it looks like they do not post the winning bid information on-line . Unlike when we attended Barrett Jackson a few years ago, the cars that had already been auctioned and brought back out to the viewing tent areas, also did not have sell price. Barrett Jackson cars did and we had fun walking up and guessing what they went for before seeing the sticker.
Here are more photos of this car. I'm guessing it sells between $180-200K because it's not the 67 model year and not a "certified/licensed" Eleanor. Quite an interesting background story on that if you read article in my post/link above.

Bottom of the pot spies! Our company left zero dark early this morning and I had to scoot over for my 0815 tee time. We had a great visit and already looking forward to the next get-together . We attended the Mecum Auto Auction in Glendale, AZ yesterday and, of all the great looking inventory, this one grabbed my top spot. It's an "Eleanor" reproduction and I just love the way it looks. It is scheduled to go across the stage today and I will be interested seeing what it sells for.

Interesting discussions on this question testerday on The Golf Channel. It sounds like many of the players on various tours think OWGR is no longer representative or accurate. Several interviewed feel the decsion not to award LIV Golf points has pretty much rendered OWGR useless. Ultimately not having many of the LIV players not playing against the PGAT fields, particularly in majors, lessens the acheivement of winning. Do you think DataGolf is better?

Top of the pot spies! Our family arrived safely and we had a great, relaxing evening. They must be worn out from the drive as we've not seen a stir or heard a peep from the casita . We'll likely take them on a tour of the community and stop at Cimarron GC for today's "pop-up" grill venue featuring pulled pork sandwhich and sides.
Have a great start to the week everyone!

The game has always been the same it’s just that we have strokes gained to prove that closer is better and the mentality laying up to a number is a bad approach
This is an interesting comment/point. I could be wrong but it seems to me that, as the years have rolled along, grabbing the stick that gets one closest to or on the green has replaced the once, much more common, layup to a yardage. The SG analysis is partly culpable.

The event was put on by the LCGOP to which I’m a part of as I’m a committeeman. Our governor and state representatives were there so we got to chat with them if we had any gripes and moans about our government. All in all a nice night. The spousal unit came home with a nice pocket bag, I came home about $700 lighter. I didn’t win any auctions for all the fire arms or the signed Josh Allen jersey which went for almost $2500. (I have golf to pay for damnit!)
picked up this and some new grips, have some work to do on the ol clubs today. Cheyenne must have pissed G*D off because this is the 9th day of wind 30 MPH or higher.
Gusts are supposed to be around 70 MPH. I’m sure we’ll see some sleeping semis on I80.
Anyway, Zoey’s last game of the season is at 10 AM this morning so we’re gonna brave the wind and head over the hill to Laramie. Hopefully you all have better weather and can get some golf in. G*D bless you all and Happy Birdie Hunting!
In his younger days, my rancher/neighbor friend in MT used to drive hay trucks through Wyoming... and, way more than once, fretted every white knuckle mile .

Top of the pot spies! Beautiful morning here in AZ, though like yesterday afternoon, will be a bit breezy. My sister and BIL arrive later this afternoon and will be spending the week visiting. Tentative plans to attend the Mecum Auto Auction and a Texas Rangers spring training game but otherwise just hangout. No one else in the family golfs... otherwise that would have certainly made the list . Have a great day!

So what's the current over/under on Rory cashing in? Does he eclipse Rahm's contract if he does? Is he playing hard to get and trying to get Yasir and Norman to the billion threshold? I've been a bit behind on some golf news and scuttlebutt and completely missed this rumor. Clearly the "I'd rather retire than join LIV" stance from earlier seems to have softened a bit based on this quote;
"I think at this point, I was maybe a little judgmental of the guys who went to LIV golf at the start, and I think it was a bit of a mistake on my part because I now realise that not everyone is in my position or in Tiger Woods' position."
To be honest, I lost some respect for Rory for the manner in which he trashed those who made the choice to join LIV. I am glad to see this change of position.

AK sporting a man-bun-like-doo and currently searching for something that resembles a tour level golf swing. The long layoff is certainly showing. Maybe the welcome back party ran late and Pat Perez was assigned to be his chaparone .
I've read that his contract has performance clauses - any details of which I've not been able to find. But it seems clear Norman's decision to award him a contract is quite speculative and largely based on a bet he'll draw interest... the overriding question "will his game return or will this be a train wreck?"

Top of the pot spies! We drew 0652 and 0700 tee times at Granite Falls North this morning... a big shift from our typical 0900-1130 times this time of year. Funny thing is that these will be considered late starts come July - Sept . Spent part of yesterday getting things ready for company next week and I think "the boss" has run out of checklist items...
Spoileryea...no she hasn't .
Have a great Friday and weekend everyone!

With the PING B61 having been permanantly retired following the testing of the ER5V, it is now down to two. The Odyssey AI-One Milled Seven T CH continues to be the "go to" but it has had a couple of brief timeouts for bad behaviour since assuming the starting role.
You know, until these two were introduced to each other I did not believe inanimate objects could sense a threat or be competitive .

Good morning spies! No golf for me today instead I will work on the A&M 9000 Putter Chipper Ball tester today. I hope to have it fully constructed, tested, and operational by the time the Maxfli Tour X balls show up.
There are some claims Maxfli makes that I need to test, but to test I needed to take me out of the equation. I had to invent something to make that happen. Details:
Hope golf is in your day somehow!
Love it! Just a little duct tape and baling wire and that will be Red Green ready .

Is Golf's Dress Code Outdated?
in Breaking News and Debate
Posted
I don't think it is outdated. I like seeing neatly dressed folks on the course. Many restaurants and other venues have dress code requirements and there is nothing wrong with that IMO.
