  1. So I have a bunch of things to add soon, but for starters, I wanna shoutout PRG Golf for their awesome head covers that don’t cost a fortune and are high quality. I’m from Kentucky, but live in San Antonio. So I’m a Louisville fan. I cheer for the Yankees because growing up in Kentucky in the 90’s, we had no local team, so I gravitated to the only team I could regularly find on TV, the Yankees. The Valhalla head cover is for 2 reasons: 1. The only major I’ve ever been to was a practice round at the 2000 PGA Championship (GO TIGER) 2. It’s tied with the Masters as my favorite major. The best field every year, on courses that are not as difficult at the US Open, but not as easy as the Open. It’s such an underrated event. I’d like to add a Masters mallet cover sometime, but I’d prefer to do that in person, rather than have someone get it for me.
  2. As am I! Well, I’m actually on the south side of San Antonio. I usually golf at the base courses (Randolph, Lackland, Sam). Hope we run into each other.
  3. Brother it's gotta be my 56º sand wedge (honestly I hit my 60º and 52º just as well). It is a Cleveland CBX gen 1. I don't care how tired or warmed up I am, when I hit it, it's going 100-105 every time. I've found the most OVERRATED aspect of golf equipment is "feel" and "forged". You know what feels good and gives me confidence? Hitting the ball straight at the pin every time. So I love my cavity back wedges and when it's time to replace them in the Spring, I'm sure I'll be going with the same ones.
  4. I will try to get out there this spring. This is an underrated golf town for sure!
  5. It really is. We go shopping and eating at the shopping center adjacent to the course. My only issue with them is the price. I could pay not much more and play TPC San Antonio with the military discount. I mostly play at the 3 military courses.
  6. Man, I’ve loved my TA Impact 3, but I bought a membership at my PGAT SuperStore and have gotten my hands on the LAB Mezz.1 Max and I’m in love. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll do a proper fitting and who knows if I’ll end with that, Scotty (which I hope not), Evnroll, or Odyssey. But that LAB putter was butter smooth and reliable, even off the rack. I’m excited about the fitting. It’ll be nice compensation for meeting my recovery goals. I’ll definitely keep in touch!
  7. Thanks for having a reasonable conversation. That does make sense. But the practice team players still get paid. I agree it’s better to compare them to tennis. I just think to my professional life and know that when I was in the Army, I was paid to exercise, to go to the range, to go to school…all to make me a better soldier when it came time to fight. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this model come to an end. I agree with your assertion about the politics. Am I ecstatic this league is financed by people connected to 9/11, no. But there is a lot of dark money already floating around the PGAT and it would be hypocritical to make that the sole reason for hate. TBH I think it’s just because they’re being disruptive to the industry and people hate change. I think we know by now that LIV never had real aspirations for taking over the tour, regardless of what Norman’s big mouth may have said. I guess for my standpoint, I’ve never woken up and thought, “Man, I wish there was less golf on TV.”
  8. No worries. I like to think of LIV haters like male Karens at the golf course that work so hard to keep everyone that doesn’t look them off the golf course.
  9. Do it, I’ll join. I can’t consume enough golf, so I’m game
  10. Man, the PGAT is spending a lot of money increasing the winnings pool, creating PIP, adding cut-free events, and offering more amenities considering LIV isn’t competition. I’m not arguing I like LIV more or think it’s a better product. It’s just different and that’s a good thing. If you’re an American, you should understand one of our core principals is free market. This “competition” is forcing the PGAT to better take care of its athletes, and that’s a good thing. So calm down. You sound like an old man that hangs out around the clubhouse because he has nothing else to do, and whines about these young whippersnappers. You probably get angry when someone doesn’t wear a collared shirt or doesn’t tuck theirs in. We are all going to win because of LIV.
  11. Can I just say that the more hate someone/something gets in golf, the more I'm drawn to it? I love LIV. I think it's hilarious how much irrational hate they get. People forget that competition breeds a higher quality product, always. My greatest gripe with the PGA TOUR is that they require these players to come out for practice rounds and a pro-am event every week, play two rounds of golf, and won't get paid for their work unless they make the cut. In what world do people work for free?? Imagine if they told the NFL, "Sorry guys, you don't get paid for practice anymore and if we miss the playoffs, none of you get paid"?? I love that LIV has forced the PGAT to get their crap together. We like to think that every player is in the top 20 and making millions per year. When in reality there's guys that are literally getting beaten by their wives for missing cuts. So we can b&m all we want about how ridiculous LIV is, but we only have the PGAT to blame.
  12. What’s going on everyone?! I’ve been reading MyGolfSpy for years and I’m just now joining the forum. I live in San Antonio and am married to a wonderful woman who is an Air Force officer. Since our lives are so unpredictable, I just walked away from my job and am a part-time student, full-time dad. I’m now going to the range several times a week at our local PGA SuperStore and am working through some physical therapy before I get out on the actual course around Christmas time. I can’t wait to get it on these testing contests as I have plenty of time to test as 1) I don’t work and 2) I live in south central Texas where we play year round. Here’s my WITB: Driver: PXG 0811XF 9º Stiff Irons: Wilson D7 4-GW Stiff Wedges: Cleveland CBX Gen 1 52º, 56º, 60º Putter: Tommy Armour Impact No 3 (The one that won best mallet putter years ago) I love this putter. I bought it from Dick’s using my military discount years ago for $70. The story for all my clubs is that I wasn’t playing enough to devote time to practice, so I used MyGolfSpy to find the most forgiving clubs at a reasonable price. Now, after multiple health issues from my time in the Army, I’m working with a physical therapist, nutritionist, and kinesiologist to get my back and body in shape eating right and hitting the gym daily. I went to the range at PGA SuperStore today and was crushing my 7 iron with 189yd carry. Come spring, after the manufacturers release their new products I’ll be doing a full fitting.
  13. In the spirit of our next major, let's see how y'all respond to this. My favorite major is the PGA Championship. It's sentimental to me as I'm from Louisville and Valhalla would host it every so often. Going to practice rounds at the 2000 PGA Championship was my first taste of pro golf. I love the quirky/non-traditional courses. I love the huge field that can give us random winners a la "Dude Wipes" Dufner. I love that it also gives us winners like Tiger, Brooks, Rory, etc. (For those that try the argument about how "random" golfers win it too much. And frankly, I love that it pisses people off. I'm just glad it's going to Bethpage Black this year. Pretty excited to try and buy the MGS bag tag and ball marker again as well. Btw, my favorite majors in order are PGA, Masters, The Open, and a far flung last finish place, the US Open.
  14. I absolutely love Rockbottomgolf.com I have used their site to purchase everything from clubs for the kids to my hybrid and personalized golf balls.
  15. I’m strongly considering getting this ball as I’m looking for a tour ball. I’ve been gaming the e12 soft since they came out, but I need more spin. My swing speed is consistently 96-100 off the driver and the RX is the only tour ball geared towards slower swing speeds from what I can tell.
  16. I tried the matte red Bridgestone e12 and lost 3/4 of them in one round. Now to be fair I couldn’t hit my driver straight to save my life AND there was a wind advisory. But it was very hard for me to follow the ball in cloudy conditions.
  17. A few years ago I had an obsession with Callaway. I bought the RAZR X irons and X2 Hot driver, odyssey blade putter, X Hot 3 wood, and a X Hot hybrid. All while playing the Supersoft. Turns out the irons and driver were SENIOR shafts and I swing around 90ish. After taking a long break from the game I have a custom set of clubs from Wilson, Cobra, PXG, Cleveland, and Tommy Armour.
