If you're open to other brands, you might want to check with Tour Edge. The E722 7wood is available with a number of no-charge shaft options, including the Tensei Blue 75 (77g stiff flex or 78g X flex). They're currently $249 less 15% with promo code 2022CDGA15. Srixon has some no-cost premium shaft options on the ZX 7wood, but they're currently out of stock on heads and couldn't say when or if they'd get more. Ping just lowered the price of the G425 fairways to $249 as well, and they had a decent selection of shaft upgrades available.

I played the BIG Trusty Rusty SW and LW years ago when I was trying to get my game to the next level. They worked well enough for me. I learned to hit a flop with the LW, which was far too easy for somebody of my skill level at the time. And I swear I could scoop a bowling ball out of a bunker they were so shovel-like. But ultimately they became too clunky and I moved on. I really liked the tri-bounce design though. My nephew recently took up the game, so I passed the BIG Trusty's on to him.

What I am getting at is that I have built up an old Nike Sasquatch Sumo driver as a "ultimate accuracy club" and it is a 13* driver with a 43" shaft with a low kick point and a somewhat higher torque (6.0) shaft that just feels easy to swing. I don't care much about distance at this point (to an extent) and I am happy with the 240 carry I get out of it. But that driver is now 15 years old. Am I giving up anything in the accuracy department by staying with such an old driver or have most of the "gains" been made in distance on newer drivers (and spin optimization which I am not really chasing since low spin can be my enemy at times).
With a driver that old I'd be surprised if you're not giving up something. But there's nothing wrong with continuing to use it if it's working for you and you're happy with the distance.
I've been playing a modified two-driver bag for a while ... one traditional driver and a mini driver. I'm thrilled with my current setup - a 2019 9.5* M4 with a 43" mini driver shaft and an 13.5* Original One in the stock 43" length. It's unusual, but it works for me.

I second that. I have an SM7 D grind. It's the only club I use for greenside bunkers, and I am generally able to open the face out of the rough as needed. Flops from tight lies occasionally go badly though. In a perfect world I'd have a low bounce LW as well, but I can't sacrifice a spot in the bag for another wedge.

Very true. TaylorMade will sell you the relaunched M4 driver for $300, but you can't customize it.

I have yet to try the new Maxfli Tour, but I am a big fan of the previous generation. I switch to a green ball in the fall when sun glare and leaves can make finding a white or even yellow ball challenging. The Maxfli Tour was one of the few urethane balls available in matte green, so it is ideal for my autumn golfing needs. When I saw the new version wasn't going to be available in green, I stocked up when the first gen went on sale. I still have 7+ dozen on hand, so I should be good for a while. If the day comes when Srixon stops offering the B2G1 Fathers Day deal on XV's, I just may switch to playing the Maxfli year-round.

I chose the X for its additional forgiveness. I expect to gain a little distance and hope to improve both consistency and accuracy.

The set does match up - all irons have the Elevate Tour in the same flex. I ordered the 5 & 6 irons in X flex because I've recently started using X flex in my driver, hybrids and driving iron with good results. I ordered the remaining irons in S. They built the entire set in S - an understandable mistake. Having them all the same flex will make them easier to unload later when/if I decide to do so. They will still correct the shafts free of charge, but I'd have to send them back to Arizona, so I'd be without them for a few weeks. I also have the option to go to a PXG store to tweak the fitting if necessary. And if they don't work out, I have 30 days to return them.

You get custom fit for pants and shoes? Not me. I know my sizes, so a fitting isn't necessary. Same for my golf clubs -- I've been successfully fit recently. I know my specs, and I know my game. Sure, I could make a bad choice and get a shaft or head that isn't ideal. But that's happened after formal fittings as well. In fact, the only two times I bought irons that didn't work at all for me they were selected and built by a "fitting expert".

I just ordered 0211DC's myself. Still not able to get them out on the course here, but they feel great in my hitting bay. The top line is surprisingly thin for an iron with so much forgiveness. I love the way they sit behind the ball. PXG did make a mistake on my build (wrong shaft flex on two irons). They offered to correct the error free of charge, of course, but that would have required me sending the clubs back to be rebuilt rather than just building and shipping the correct configuration. I was on the fence about having mixed flexes in the bag anyway, so I'm going to play them as built rather than give up 2 to 3 weeks of potential playing time to have them corrected.

I don't think you can easily categorize the player who successfully bags a Mini Driver. I'm a mid-capper, and I've carried one for years (three different models). It's my go-to when the driver isn't behaving. Or more accurately, when my driver swing isn't behaving. Maybe it's not supposed to work for me, but it does. In fact, the Original One works so well for me, I'm already pondering adding the new 300. I'm quite certain it's just a matter of time.

My Original One is my third TM mini driver. I don't know what it is about them that just works for me, but they have been great for my game. A bit harder to hit off the deck than a traditional 3-wood, of course, but a fantastic driver alternative off the tee. I don't need the new one, but I'll be taking a serious look anyway.

I carry a 9.5* driver and a 13.5* Original One. I've been blessed with good distance, so I have rounds when I only pull the driver a couple times. (And sometimes I regret using it that much.) Despite what the stats say should happen with a golfer in my handicap range, I am far more consistent with my Original One. I mean, it's not even close. When the driver is working for me (okay, when my swing is working for the driver), I'll use it on longer holes and take the extra 20 to 30 yards, but I could leave the driver at home, and I'm confident my score wouldn't suffer from it. In fact, it might be good for me. The benefit of the mini is that if I can hit it off deck if I need to, although in most cases I'm better off just hitting the Super Hybrid.

I replaced my 17* Super Hybrid with a RADSpeed 5wood a few months ago, and so far the results have been very good -- much more consistent. Like many others, I'm fed up with hooking my 21* hybrid, so I ordered a Tour Edge E722 7wood. Ordered, custom-built and shipped all in the same day.
