  1. Happy birthday and hope you hit it well out there and enjoy the round
  2. Got out for my first round on Friday with a round that featured cool temps and winds from 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 30. My SwungU app was giving adjusted yardages up 30 yards into the wind. It was rude welcome to the season, but it was good to get back out there. Course was also pretty soggy so contact was a bit iffy, but still good to get back out there. Found a better groove on the back and got to dial in some partial wedges. Also on 17 hit a nice drive taking a big cut off the corner of the hole and hit to about 5 feet and made the birdie which gets the year off to a good start in averaging 1 birdie a round. Time to hang it up and protect the stats right? No idea on score as keeping it was futile but the season in now underway and it should be a blast.
  3. Good morning all! Had a great weekend with my brother-in-law coming to visit Friday into Sunday morning. We got some yard work done and just spent countless hours outside which is always the best. Also got my first round of golf in. A steady 10 to 15 mph wind with gusts up to 30 made for a rough re-introduction, but hit some good shots and made a birdie to kick off the year. Bruins also got the win in a big way, looking forward to the game tonight, also that Avalanche and Jets game last night was insane. @Josh Parker feel better soon Have a great Monday everyone!
  4. Tough break to be sure, though they are improving so hopefully that continues. As long as the Sabers keep Sabering

Given some interest in the Good morning thread, lets bring this back for the playoffs. Nothing quite like playoff hockey and the intensity that they play with. Just hoping the Bruins win a round given recent history. This year seems like a bit of a toss up. Florida looks good but you never know about Bobrovsky, Rangers have the President's trophy so they are you, the Stars, Avalanche, and Jets look great in the West. Edmonton still has all that fire power, Vancouver feels a bit too young overall, Tamps and the Leafs are hanging around. Plus some wild card teams that had to play there way in. Should be a blast!
  6. Feels like a good time to plug this thread,
  7. So true and the work the Strantz did at Tobacco Road is insane, just the visual deception as well. Making places that look tight but actually there is width there. Some of the best things people could do before GPS technology was this visual deception. The bunker that looks green side but is 40 yards short, or the green that looks closer than it is. Not an issue now but those angles can still make things hard to see. I think 6 at LACC was a good one, though I wish it was even a bit wider in spots around that course. Some of those fairways had some great slope and if the kept it shorter loner it would have taken more drives off line and to a poor angle.
  8. I am sure this is not going to be the most popular thread, but I have been getting very interested in and reading up on golf course architecture and have no desire to join another forum so hopefully there are a some folks on here that would like to talk about some of this stuff from time to time. Just recently read Geoff Shackelford's great book on this topic, hence the title of this thread. I also have ready some work on Fried Egg Golf, https://thefriedegg.com/, they have some good archived content and share some books. I also read George C Thomas's book Golf Course Architecture in America. It was just fascinating to ready especially last year before the the US Open at LACC, a course he designed. Even with the title I do want to adhere to Geoff Shackelford in that this will not be overly technical, no need to call humps near a green hummocks or anything like that. I will just leave this great image from George Thomas's book that got me drawing some holes this way that I will share soon. Also just fascinating to see how he was thinking about this hole and how it could be played by multiple skill levels. Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
  9. Those do look awesome, really great look. The Toura has this look in iron heads if anyone wanted to get in on that test and get that finish on them
  10. That's right they will (gotta fake it till you make it right)
  11. Great round, sounds like it was just one of those rounds where everything just goes right. Bottle it up quick if you can!
  12. Hope they feel better soon. Sick kids are never any fun.
  13. Good morning all! Was cool and cloudy yesterday, but thankfully today should be a bit warmer as I get to out for my first round this afternoon. Also my brother-in-law should be stopping in today which was a nice surprise to find out about. He is usually pretty busy and lives about 2.5 hours away so visiting can be tough. Looking forward to a nice weekend, hopefully with some relaxation. Have a great Friday and weekend everyone!
  14. Good morning all! Was another beautiful weather day yesterday but might finally be a cloudy day today but hopefully no rain. Kids got to do some work at the local bog fixing bridges and other trail work in there. Tonight there is a beaver walk where they are hoping to see the beavers out there at dusk which sounds very cool. Otherwise another work day trying to fix data issues. Happy birthday @GolfSpy SAM Have a great day everyone!
  15. Good morning y'all! (I think I am using that right as a yankee) More beautiful weather on tap this has been a wonderful spring stretch before we get inundated with bugs for about a month or a bit more. Yard work is getting done with this nice weather including some clean up from trees, leaves, and just general clean up. Have a great Wednesday everyone!
  16. No no just kidding, though we should set up a round sometime this year
  17. Is the fitting cart making any trips? Looking forward to this one though.
  18. Congrats everyone and looking forward to seeing how the testing goes! Also awesome intro @Cfhandyman and sounds like some fascinating working!
  19. Good morning all! Beautiful day on tap again, got my first run in just shorts and t-shirt yesterday which means we really are into spring now. Looking forward to another great day today and more time outside. @sirchunksalot good luck with the BP. I have struggled with this my self, and since they got concerned now I get nervous at the doctors too. Hope things stay normal for you. Have a great Tuesday everyone!
  20. Definition of a first world problem in the golf world
  21. This wet wedge performance is the number 1 reason I went with the Glide 4.0s. I almost always sweep the dew and I wanted the most consistent performance I could from a wedge wet or dry. Great to see it working for you too!
  22. Good morning all! Scottie winning the Masters was not very surprising, it got close there for about 15 minutes before he decided to put the pedal down and just run and hide. Had a nice weekend with an impromptu movie night Friday with some of our kids friends which was great. Then had a fire Saturday with some neighbors even though three was a bit of rain, but my son was biking up and down our driveway for like 3 hours. Sunday I woke up early to drive 45 minutes for my first round of golf of the year to find the parking lot empty, no flags on the greens, and the clubhouse locked. My fault for just doing an online tee time instead of calling, but now I get to figure out how to get my money back since I set it up online. So still no golf yet this year. Instead we had some friends from college and their kids over for some dinner and more biking. It was great to spend some time each day connecting with community. Have a great Monday everyone!
