  1. I don’t like wearing a watch when I play but love to have that technology available. Bought a Bushnell Phantom Golf GPS and really love it! Has a great app for the phone and so far every course I have played has been on it. Main display shows front middle and back distances of the green and it will also display fairway and greenside bunker distances as well. If you don’t want to wear a watch it is a great alternative. I’d get one of the bright colors if you intend to use the magnet on the back to attach it to a golf cart. That way it would less easy to lose. That would be my only real negative of the device. Would hate to accidentally leave it somewhere. Other nice thing is there are no additional annual fees. Buy it once and forget it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Garage practice set-up. Bender is big on feedback negative or positive when making a swing change. My favorite drill station to help me hit push draws. Cone set on toe line to promote hands in club head out on backswing. Impact bag set up so club path goes in to out slightly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I personally feel like Mike Bender might be the best golf instruction Instagram account around. Some of his methods are certainly different than many of the new instructors touting opening up, wrist angles and rotation. From what I have read he strives to teach the most efficient swing possible and he does a darn good job at it!! Other guys to look into: Mike Malaska- YouTube Jeff Coston on Twitter, YouTube Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I have read the book as well. While I don’t have the time right now to provide a lengthy review I will say one of the tips I found most valuable was practicing hitting full shots with the ball in widely varying positions within your stance from in front of your lead leg to behind your trail leg (and everyplace in between) I have added this to my range sessions by hitting 10-20 balls in this manner just trying to put center face contact on the ball. It does wonders for your confidence and your ability to get the club on the ball correctly from different positions. You can also do the same thing from different lies and slopes. As we all know when you are playing golf on the course it is rarely a flat lie like the range. Ultimately the task remains the same of controlling the clubface to make good contact and direct the ball toward the target. I have found that this has helped me a bunch- give it a try. 5. Just got back from AZ. We Ko Pa is a must play. Not sure where you are staying but another must play is out west called Verrado Founder’s Course. I have played it many times and it is an absolute blast. Prices will range from $100-$129.00 depending on when you play. I would look at different Tee time websites and get the best deal and call the pro shop as well. They usually match any deals. As far as the course goes every hole is different. There are houses around the course on some holes (not all) but they are positioned well off the course. There is some dramatic elevation change on several holes. You will hit every club in the bag which to me says a lot about the course design. It is challenging but doesn’t beat you up all day either. Favorite holes- 3,5,8,9,13,15,16,18. Crap that list got long. Hole 15 is a long par 5 with a back drop of the White Tank Mountains. No houses on the west side of the hole just amazing views. Truly one of my favorite places on earth. Holes 16 and 18 have awesome tee shots heading east down the mountain with dramatic elevation change. You will hit some of the longest drives of your life on those two holes. 18 is steeply down hill off the tee and the second shot. It is picturesque to say the least- i would take par every day and be happy. I love the hole but it will eat your lunch if you are not careful. Finally sitting on the patio after the round to enjoy a beer and the best quesadilla you will ever have makes for a great end to a great day. Sorry that was a long reply. Probably made your decision harder. Jason

  9. Thanks. I feel like a beginning golfer. Not sure what I’m doing. Been struggling with the app not allowing replies. Have you had that issue? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Got my first 4 rounds in with my Titleist TS2 I'll call it a 4 wood. Set it to 16.5 degrees. 3-4 wood off the deck has to be my most inconsistent shot in golf. Was playing a TM Rocketballz HL 3 wood prior which I smashed off the tee but was really iffy off the turf. Think I may have found the perfect club finally after years of searching. This is easy to launch high off the ground in fact I am considering dropping the loft when winter is over and I can play with it a little bit. Isn't quite a long as the TM but its close and being able to hit it out of the fairway makes it an easy choice. Any one else having similar results with this club? Will be interested in how it tests in the Most Wanted Fairway Metals 2019.
  11. 1. How long have you been playing golf? What is your handicap/typical score? Started playing golf seriously after college. Played just a little bit in college but was involved in other sports and played racquetball competitively in college and after which took up most of my free time. Long story short been playing in some capacity for 25 plus years as I am now 47 years old. My handicap ranges from 1-3 depending on the time of year. Tend to start slow with all the time off and improve as the year goes on. Typically scoring average is 74-75. Lowest score is 65 twice at my home course. 2. What do you love about golf? All of it. Love being outdoors with my friends and family. I love the challenge of trying to improve and compete. Hard to beat hitting a well struck shot! 3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Know any other Spies? I tend to over think all of my purchases. Especially golf equipment. So many options today makes it difficult to narrow things down. I am inherently skeptical when it comes to marketing claims thus when researching things on the web I ran into this site and have used the unbiased information for several years. I don't know any other Spies. Interested in trying out this forum thing with active participation- usually just a reader of the posts. 4. Where are you from/Home course? From Mason City, IA. Play the Mason City Country Club primarily. Make an effort to play and compete around the state when I am able to. Try to play lots of different courses. 5. Best/Worst things about golf in my area? Best- Golf is relatively inexpensive in my area which is a plus. Summers are great and there are some terrific courses throughout the state. Worst- short seasons and weather during the season can be rough 6. What do you do for a living? Orthopedic Medical Device Sales 7. How did you pick your user name? This group should be able to figure out what it stands for- It is why we are on this site.
