  1. It has been raining for what seems like weeks, which is what we needed. So first range session in awhile. Really working on getting more rotation through the ball. Only worked on pitching wedge and down, really trying to focus on making that part of my game better. Slowing my tempo down really helped me get my club in a better position on the downswing, and it helps me get my left knee and forward move to start my down swing. Slowly making progress, hopefully I will be able to get some more swings tomorrow.
  2. Had a breakthrough round today! The first day back from a week long cruise through the Caribbean, so I had no expectations after not touching a club for over a week. I shot my best score of 77, not my best swing but I was able to stay in play and get up and down. I didn’t even realize where I was score wise until 18 tee, but just focused on fairway and green like I was for the day. Looking forward to see where this can lead. Score: 77 FIR: 8/14 GIR: 10/18 PUTTS: 33
  3. After a very frustrating putting weekend, I hit the putting green hard this afternoon. My ball striking and overall full swing has been a lot better, so I’ve been hitting more greens. This has exposed my putting, and been a huge weakness the past few rounds. So, today I set up a 3 foot circle and made 50 from 3 feet. Then I kept the circle and worked my lag putting by trying to keep putts in that circle from 20/30/40 feet, each distance on uphill, downhill and breaking putts. Speed has really been an issue during my rounds, so this was really eye opening for me to see. I also, was working on my pre putt routine of aiming the face, setting up around that, look at my line and then hit the putt.
  4. I’ve played both the Left Dash and the Callaway XLS(current gamer), and both of them are on another level. For what it’s worth, I’ve played the Snell MTB-X and it is a really good ball that I have/ would happily make my everyday gamer.
  5. * I would really like to see what the pwrshell and tungsten can do for my game. I could use some more GIR!! * Corbin/ College Station, Texas *Srixon ZX7 * 6.4 *I would participate in discussions about the irons.
  6. Very hot day at the range, both in temperature and in frustration. After a cold shower, and a few sips of bourbon, I have a much better perspective on my struggles. I thought taking my game to the next level would be easier, but it’s truly a grind at times. Im still working on my shoulder turn, and stopping coming over the top. Neither is as bad, and I’m still getting decent shots. But as I started trying to work it out, the worse it got. Then I tried going back to my original “feel” and even that did not work. I struggled to find a stopping point, but I did and I’m hoping for a better day tomorrow.
  7. So after finally getting a round back in the high 70s, I went to the range to battle the 108* Texas heat. Just wanted to keep my current feels and try and work on my tee shots I will need for my upcoming tournament. My irons are feeling phenomenal, but I still feel like I have to guide my driver. I’m not super confident/comfortable with it at the moment. I can’t get the same feel that I did a few weeks ago when I was striping it, but I started to feel the heat get to me so I had to find a good one to end with and head home. I got home and cooled down then did a flexibility workout that I’ve been doing recently, I’m hoping this can improve my body awareness and balance on the course.
  8. I have been playing/practicing quite a bit lately, but unfortunately I have had some very frustrating rounds. The last 4 or 5 rounds I feel like I have never swung so good in my life, and my ball striking has been phenomenal. My scores have been consistent and my handicap has fallen, but my scores just haven’t been where I feel like they should. I’ve had my pity party, and moved on, work will be busy the next two days so it will be a much needed break. On to the positive side of things, I know that better scores will come, and I’m for once really loving my swing. Also, highlight of the round last night was where I was an inch from holing out from 94 yards!! I’m trying to trust the process as they say.
  9. Went to the range, I am really focusing on my rotation. I really only hit 8 iron to get it engrained. I have the backswing and all the way to up at the top in a great position, but as I start the downswing I pull it out, which causes everything to go left. So I’m working on it moving down and holding the angle more, but mostly trying to get my rear shoulder through the ball and me facing target. I hit some really amazing shots, and I feel like I am so close to having a more consistent golf swing. I finished with some drivers working on the same thing, I’m not quite there but my last few were really good.
  10. I went to the course yesterday prepared to practice, but the course was wide open and the pro said lets go play. I played 9 holes, and easily had my best ball striking day, and after 9 the pro said this is the best he has ever seen me swing. This is the first time on the course I don't have a bunch of swing thoughts. Everything feels free and easy. I drove one par 4 on the fringe, and flew one over long. The ZX7 is a beast! I just fell into my comfort zone of score of 41, so I need to work on scoring now. More so in picking better targets, so I plan on really digging into DECADE. I'm hoping to get in some holes this evening, but if not I really need to dial in my wedges and putter.
  11. Really grinded out on the range today. I really focused on the little things, which why are those the hardest to change? I also recorded my swings which really helped see what I was doing. I only hit a wedge and a 7 iron. I then finished with about 100 chip shots, focusing on tempo and trying to make them again. This has really shrunk my dispersion. It was a very hot Texas afternoon, but I am already seeing a huge improvement.
  12. Well after my weekends rounds, I had extra motivation to get to the range, so I battled the heat and got some work done. When I say I have never hit my irons and wedges so good in my life is a massive understatement! My misses are getting a lot smaller on the range. But lately my demon is the big stick, now my pro who is watching, swears it’s not my driver's fault. So I’m hitting some and he’s watching, and correcting, I’ve created ball position flaws to compensate for the driver. I guess without knowing I’ve moved it too far forward even in front of my lead foot, so I can get the ball up. He makes some tweaks but I just can’t get the driver up, so he goes inside the clubhouse and brings out the Srixon ZX5 and ZX7 drivers. Instantly I start start piping the ZX5 high and dead straight. So it is a little of the driver, but I still have some things I have to work on to make my driving more consistent. Then we moved to the chipping green, I’m hitting shortish chips, which for me a year ago would be a nightmare. I’m hitting them to gimmie range mostly, and he asks, “what’s your goal?” I say to hit it close, and says you need to try to make it. He told me I need to switch my practice brain into that I’m good enough to make them, and it will transfer on the course. So I made two of about 20 balls. We regroup, same shot now my goal is 3, made 2 of the last 3 to get to 3 out of my group. Something this small was game changing for me, I’ve never stepped up even on a practice area and thought seriously about making them intentionally. Insane day, but currently got my morning coffee #1 and the heating pad on my back because it is sore.
  13. Same! I switched from a Ping to the Sim for more yards. Even if I give up 5-10 yards to be more accurate, if I'm not always in the trash, it would be worth it.
  14. Well I had a learning weekend for sure, frustrated but I am learning. I had two great starts to my rounds this weekend. I was 37 on the front, then really fell off the back to shoot 79. Then I had my best start ever of birdie birdie par par, then I got nervous trying to save it and finished at 40. I was really frustrated yesterday when I blew my 2 under start, mentally I go into protection mode and start trying to guide the ball instead of releasing the club. I talked to my pro afterwards frustrated, and he laughed because of two things, one some of my thought process on the bad holes. Also, because these are my comfortable scores, and he said I have to learn to get comfortable at being better. I was not comfortable I was so nervous. My driver is really killing me, the toe strikes just put me in bad spots and put a ton of pressure on my approach game, it may be on the chopping block soon. My short game has really improved, and I watched some old Brad Faxon videos and my putting was on fire this weekend. Best putting in a long time. Going to try and hit the range this evening if the heat will let up. Saturday Sunday Score 79 40 FIR 6/14 1/7 GIR 5/18 2 PUTTS 30 13
  15. I saw that, it will be much needed
  16. That is great to hear! I am going to download it now.
  17. That is what I have been looking into giving a try. The tiger 5 is something I am going to start tracking, but also thinking about doing the fundamentals to get the full effect.
  18. I got to play quite a bit of golf this weekend, and honestly my ball striking is getting really solid. With that I am learning my new yardages, and with high winds it made club selection tricky. Both days, I left the course with scores that I used to be happy about, but now I am disgusted. My "bad" scores are due to a couple holes where I put myself in positions I cannot do much, or I try to do too much. I had a long sit down with my pro, and both of the rounds I coulda should woulda shot in the 70s, and I do not have much excuse now looking back. My game is improving but my scores are not. I sat down last night, while I was grilling steaks, and went through my last 10 rounds, searching for answers. I came to the conclusion, I have invested in great equipment, and training tools, and lessons, but I need a better mental approach and strategy. I have goals written down, but I need to be more focused on achieving them, not just hoping to achieve them. So, I have some more things planned, but I am going to start a diligent practice schedule and have a plan for each day. Saturday MONDAY Score 82 SCORE 85 FIR 6/14 FIR 10/14 GIR 8/18 GIR 9/18 PUTTS 36 PUTTS 35
  19. I am loving my OMOI 2. I found the blacked out version, and it looks sweet. I have played with the weights, more of the standard and the 3g, and for now I think I will stick with the standard 8. It helps with my lag putting better, and now that I am getting comfortable with the heavier weight, I am starting to have better speed and making putts.
  20. Had a fun round this morning for my birthday, and my parents came down to join. It was cold and wet, so didn’t keep stats just wanted to enjoy the round. Hit some good shots, nothing horrible. Really liking where my swing is at right now. I did notice with hitting ball more solid and with a better face to path, I may have to consider a ball change. I had quite a few run out more than I wanted. Also, really enjoying the Mizuno M Craft OMOI 2.
  21. Had some free time this afternoon, so naturally I went to the range. I wanted to see if I could continue with good swings. By some miracle, I continued striping it it. The pro stopped by, and we chatted about my success with full swing. He wanted to see my chipping. Again it was a quick fix for him. I naturally keep the face open, he worked on getting it square and slowing my tempo. Game changer! My chipping was much better. Should transfer into full swings and continue to make me better.
  22. I had another really good round on Sunday. I feel like the pieces are starting to come together. My ball striking was really good, as I was releasing the club better. I put a new putter in the bag, and it was the Mizuno OMOI and it was much heavier than my old Ping Anser. My short game really struggled, but it still turned out to be a good score. I messed myself up on 17, I counted my score and if I finished at par I would break 80. I bogeyed 17 from middle of fairway 90 yards out. I made par on 18, but very happy with where my swing is at the moment. Score: 80 Fir: 9/ 14 GIR 6/18 Putts: 32
  23. It looks amazing, and feels like a Mizuno. It helped me shoot my best round in months. It’s something when it makes the Left Dash feel good.
  24. Well I did it, I bought the Mizuno OMOI 2 black putter!! Happy birthday to me! I tested it against Scotty Cameron Newport 2, COBRA Grandsport 35, and Odyssey Tri-Hot 5k. Did not get along with Scotty, and I really liked the Cobra. In the end it came down to Odyssey and Mizuno, with the Mizuno being the one.
  25. I had a pretty good round compared to what I’ve been posting. Also, played with some really nice guys today which just makes the round better. My ball striking was as good as it’s been since I’ve started the swing changes. Although I hit 50% of the greens I had 4 more that were just on the fringe, but my putting was ice cold. I couldn’t find the speed at all today. Came away with a lot of hope out of todays rounds, and my chipping and putting will be getting worked on this week. SCORE: 84 FIR: 7/14 50% GIR: 9/18 50% PUTTS: 38
