Had a really good practice today, wedges were dialed. Moved to my 9 iron where it just wasn’t great. So I really focused on getting to my lead side in the downswing and started flushing it. Then I moved away from the ball a little bit for driver and it improved tremendously. After two really good days, I’m really trying to manage my expectations for this weekend.

Started my set practices this week, yesterday I worked on chipping for 2 hours. Today I divided 120 balls into sets for 50,75,100,135,185 and tracked how many GIR I would have probably hit. My iron and wedges were so good, I was even going down and compressing my irons and hit them very very solid. I then had 15 balls each for my driver and 2 iron for tee shots. These weren’t near as good, only hit about half in the fairway, but it will improve with time.

Had two very hot rounds this weekend. I am improving, and hitting more greens in regulation. Just big numbers are killing me. My swing is as good as it’s ever been, but the consistency just is not there just yet. I’ve been reflecting as to why my game isn’t where I want it to be, or even where I think it should be in my opinion. I’ve come to the conclusion I don’t have a goal in mind. So my goal to work toward is to break par. Last night I set up a detailed practice schedule, and goals I must complete each week that set me back the previous week rounds.

    saturday round
    score 80 GIR 9/18 FIR 5/14 Putts 31
    Sunday Round
    score 81 GIR 8/18 FIR 7/14 PUTTS 32

It’s getting warm down here, yesterday was upper 100s, but my golf swing needed some work. I played okay this weekend, putting and chipping were clutch, but I struggled with my full swing. So I set up my alignment and ball position rods to warm up. Then I took them away to work on “course mode” where I pick my green, aim, set up check target and hit. My swing felt good, contact was good, but everything was moving too far left. Wind was 10+ off the right but my intention was to start right of target to account for the wind. So naturally I went down rabbit holes. I set up a gate to try to hit a fade, but massive slices and a few hosel rockets started happening so I quickly moved on from the fade feeling. Set up an alignment at an angle that matched my shaft angle dtl to swing over in backswing then under in downswing to help me not take it inside, but still much of the same. Frustration was really setting in, when I remembered a tweet from earlier in the day from Michael S Kim a pga tour pro, he said in a tweet do you know the main technical flaw of what causing you to hit it bad? Is it the root cause or is it a symptom? It really got me, I was searching for a symptom, and I needed to know the root cause. So I got my camera out and took a video dtl and face on. This is where I found my strong right hand on the grip. I really focused on placing my hands on correctly and my high baby draw was back. I saw this weekend the coverage of the BMW they were talking how Scottie grinds over his grip to make sure it’s where he needs it, and now I realize I need to do the same with my grip.
