  1. Don’t sleep on the 47* AW and the 51* GW. The AW is my favorite club in my bag. It’s been money as a 100 yard club for me, and although I don’t use the GW too often ( I go 54&58 instead ) it’s a smooth 85 yard club. FYI as far as those yardages… I have the KBS60 (67g) A flex in my set. My SS with my driver is about 85mph.
  2. I hope your dad enjoys them as much as I do my E722’s. Forgiving, launch high and long. What really amazes me though is the finish on them. I’ve never seen anything like it. 80 plus rounds in and the guys at bag drops down here still ask “are these new?” They barely have a mark on them… even the faces. It’s unreal.
  3. The GBB 3W in that series is the club that finally knocked my ‘16 M2 out of my bag. The 5W didn’t work as well for me, I went with the Paradym instead (now I’m thinking about getting a matching 7W) Enjoy the new 7w I hope it works as well for you as the 3W does for me!
  4. My daughter just bought a house in Commack. Way too close to the new PGASS they opened there. Like it wasn’t bad enough I have two of them within 6 miles of me down here in Myrtle Beach.
  5. This is my favorite golf site, but for the past few months it’s the only one i go on that continually crashes and freezes. This is my 3rd attempt to post this. Am I the only one having this problem?
  6. I don’t know if you received your T350’s yet, but if you did can you tell me how they stack up against the DCBs? The 5-AW set of DCBs we talked about in the what did you buy thread is arriving sometime today… I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.
  7. I felt kinda bad about returning the Halos, because I got the 5-DW from Hurricane Golf (the Sub 70 guys) brand new for $470 which was another great deal, but when I saw the DCB listing I ran over to the PGASS and compared the two… like @ole gray said, the DCB’s are no joke… beautiful looking iron also. I absolutely love my E722’s, they’ve been everything I want from an iron, so it will be a fun head to head to see which set becomes my Myrle Beach gamer, and which one goes into my backup “Long Island” bag!
  8. Last week I told everyone I wanted to fill out a backup bag after the bag drop guys packed my bag with those of a travel group and I couldn’t play for 16 days. I picked up a set of Halo hybrid irons for a good price on eBay but when I opened the box, I was kind of underwhelmed at the thought of playing them. Problem solved… today I stumbled upon a brand new set of Apex DCBs 6-AW with the Recoil Dart shafts for only $675 which is $500 cheaper than they’re going for in stores. Thankfully, I hadn’t unwrapped the Halos… they were returned this afternoon.
  9. I’d get the putter also. Two birds with one stone, and plenty of Tour players are still using the Sim, it’s a great driver.
  10. I just got through a two week long nightmare. My clubs were mistaking ly packed with those from a large travel group from the West coast visiting Myrtle Beach. It took that long to get my clubs back. in the interim, I decided to fill out a second bag, so I’d never be unable to play for that long ever again. I already had two sets of wedges (CBX and Zipcores) a 3H and a Yes! putter. I picked up a Cobra Speedzone 21* 4 hybrid on Amazon for $79 new, and got what I think was a steal on eBay from Hurricane Golf (the Sub70 folks)… a new set of Cleveland Launcher XL Halo irons 5-DW for $479.00. I had a set of these for about 6 months before selling them to a friend. tbh they were good, but not great. At that price though, they’ll be just fine, and I’ll enjoy them during those periods when my swing goes awry. I took advantage of the 200% trade in offer Callaway had and traded two old (M2 & Mavrik Max FWs for a Paradym 5W. That leaves only a driver to fill out this backup bag. it dawned on me today that if I can find a deal on another G425 driver, this could end up being one of the all time most forgiving setups ever… G425 driver, Paradym 5W, Cobra 4H, Halos 5-DW, CBX 54* & 58* and putter.
  11. Yep… and don’t forget all the Yinzers from Pittsburgh.
  12. Last year I ordered my Phantom X 5.5 with a black Matador midsize. I loved everything about the putter but that Pistolini.
  13. I drool over those Callaway UW’s, but i don’t think they’re available in LH?
  14. This is going to sound a bit crazy, because I agree totally with @chisag and @cksurfdude about 3Ws, and players with declining swing speeds. But have you ever just set a club down to the ground and known you will hit it well? I just had that feeling this morning… but here’s the rub. It was a RH model so I wasn’t able to demo it. That’s not the end of the world though, because like Chisag, I’d prefer to test them on the course instead of in a store. I’m no pro, but I can hit any club fairly well after a few swings off a mat. The real test comes on the course when you’re under pressure. Even if they give me comparable distances to the 16.5* 3HL and 3H I have in the bag now, I’d much prefer the higher ball flight and extra carry these will supposedly give me. Any distance gains would be a bonus. Ah well… Nothing ventured, nothing gained?
  15. I’m playing pretty well lately, but I need to solve what is becoming an issue with my bag setup between my driver and 4 hybrid. My 16.5 3HL has worked as well as any FW has for quite a while, but my swing speed has slowed the past 7 years to a point where I’m getting about 15 less yards than I did when I bought it. I’ve recently replaced my 5 iron with a 5 hybrid, and it’s been a revelation. I also replaced my 3H with a HW, but it’s giving me the same distance as my 4H (they are both 20*) and I need more than that from a FW. I want to get a 5W to gap above the 4H, but that would get me very close in yardage to the 16.5* 3HL. If I were to put a 15* 3W in the bag, it would have to be a very forgiving and high launching one as FW’s have never been my strength. I’ve come to a point where I need to get better with them though as my 3H isn’t giving me the carry distance it should. It’s become a “certain type of course” club. I’ve been looking at reviews, and the Big Bertha 21 3&5 woods seem to fit the bill for a weak FW player such as myself. I can get them at a very good price, but I can’t demo them. (I’ve never even seen one). They seem to be bordering on the extreme, with shallow, offset heads and slightly shorter shafts. Has anyone here had any experience with them, and am I on the right track thinking of buying them?
  16. You make a good point here. I don’t know why I dwell on the negative rather than take what was positive from a round. This game is supposed to be fun. That said, desperate times call for desperate measures, lol. I went to the putting green today with my old warhorse. If you look at my sig, you’ll see the Cameron 5.5 is in a timeout until further notice and my Yes! Tracy is back in the sack.
  17. Two very frustrating rounds on Thursday and today. I hit the ball as well as I can but ended with scores of 84 & 85. Putting is usually the best part of my game but because it’s golf, now is when my stroke has chosen to desert me. I couldn’t make a thing Thursday, and today? Missed a 4 ft. par putt on 1, birdied 2, missed a one foot par putt on 3, and continued to miss from inside 5 feet all day. Just to put a bow on the day… I had a 10 foot birdie putt on the 17th and 3 putted for bogey. At that point, all I could do was shake my head.
  18. Congratulations Chuck, enjoy the new sticks! I know you’ve been looking for a while and have demoed a bunch of different irons, so I know you made a great choice. I’ve always been curious about Sub70, but their options for LH demos are either non existent, or extremely limited as far as shaft and flex. If you have the time, can you tell us what your other finalists were, and why you went with these?
  19. C’mon now Jerry, read the room, This thread is almost 800 pages and it’s all guys talking about buying stuff they don’t need!
  20. Okay kids… Change of plans with this “experiment”. I wasn’t quite sold on the idea of getting the Halo Launcher 5 iron, so I took a 30 mile drive today with my friend to the nearest PXG fitter and hit the Gen5 XF and the 0211 25* hybrids. He recommended I go with the 0211 as my numbers were almost identical between the two, it was $50 cheaper, and I didn’t need the adjustability on the XF. I got a 10% Locals Discount (that’s a big thing down here) so it only ended up costing me $107. I made a quick call to TGW, and when they said they would be able to cancel the Cleveland 5 iron, it was a done deal. My buddy also bought the 0211 4 and 5 hybrids today. He put things in perspective when I was deciding what to do. He told me “when you can get a new PXG hybrid for under $110, don’t over think it.”
  21. I’m going to try a little experiment. I just ordered a Halo Launcher XL 5 iron with a KBS shaft (same as my irons). I played the Halos 5-DW for a while before switching to my E722’s. I hit my current 5 iron very well off a tee, but depending on the lie, I’m sometimes hesitant to hit it off the turf. I could easily get by with it, but I remember the Halo 5 iron working so well from any lie. Because I’m so familiar with the club, I knew I’d have to get it 2* strong in order to gap properly between my G425 4H and my E722 6 iron. It only cost me $103 including a $14 upgrade shaft for a club that I know will give me exactly what I want for way less than the cost of a standard 5H.
  22. I shot an 84 yesterday on the Dye Course in Barefoot Resort, which isn’t a bad score at all for me on this one. Despite one very lucky short sided flop shot that went in for a birdie, I cost myself at least another 5 strokes by either skulling or chunking easy shots on other holes. I thought I’d solved this problem, but it had reared it’s ugly head again. It ended up costing me $30 when I finished one point out of first in my flight in a Stableford game. On the bright side everything else about my game was good. I was very happy with my full swing, and my putter was working well all day. I sank a couple long ones, and made some very clutch saves for pars and bogeys when I had to.
  23. If you haven’t thrown the SM bag out yet, give them a call. I had a similar problem and the woman I spoke to knew exactly what the issue was. They sent me a replacement part via 2 day shipping to attach to the legs at no cost even though my bag was older than yours.
  24. So I won an auction on eBay Saturday for a new Mavrik Max HeavenWood for $37(!!!) plus another 13 for shipping. I’ve never hit a HW before, but from what I’ve read it might be a pretty cool club to fool around with, especially at the price I got this one for. @Rickp you might want to check these out? He has them in LH only and I think Callaway stopped making them in lefty after this model was released. For those like me who don’t know, this HW has 20* loft, the shaft is the length of a 4W, with a 3w sized head. That’s not confusing at all, is it? I’m hoping to get about the same distance as a 3H, but with a lot more height rather than roll out. Basically a club for when I need to carry a ball about 175-185 in the air, either over water, a hazard, or trees. I’m not the best at hitting fairway woods, but this thing looks awfully easy to hit at set up. Any thoughts from guys who play/have played a HW?
