  1. 3 day trip to Vegas with my wife and try to talk a buddy and his wife into joining us.

BIG dinners every night! A show or two.

Golf in the morning. Poker in the afternoon.

  2. Interesting. I would have thought 10+ year old technology would be ready for an update. Glad to hear that you were able to save a few bucks.

I think that my 8 year old Orlimar Driver may be in need of replacement, but I will absolutely be bringing it along for any shopping / fitting trips to ensure that I'm seeing an improvement.

Question for the group - I'm trying to find Demo days and can't seem to track any down. Google keeps showing me OLD info on past days but I can't find anything on upcoming days. Help?

Straight to the range again tonight with different conditions out there; 10-mph wind direct into us all evening. I decided to play around with the loft settings a bit after my normal up-the-bag warm-up. What I didn't report last night was for the whole session, I was set at -1 putting it at 9.5*. I started there for a few shots tonight and then went to -1.5 (9*) with "meh" results. Took it completely the other way to +1.5 (12*) and started getting some balloons. Backed off to +1 (11.5*) with similar results. Tried "neutral" at 10.5* with ok results, but back at 9.5* seems to awaken the beast. No bombs past 245 into the wind, but I continued to let 'em rip with many hits in the sweet spot. 9.5* is the setting for me. Also, my little launch monitor shows ball speed (not clubhead speed darn it), but my average ball speed with my new grip & hip flip is a much improved average of 139-mph. That roughly equates to around an average swing speed of around 95-mph if I read things right. Much better than the mid 80's I saw during fitting with a crap swing.

More to come. After baseball tomorrow in the morning, I will be golfing in the afternoon with my scramble group at Quail Hollow in Boise. This course is one of more challenging courses in the area with lots of elevation changes and blind shots that are very difficult to tackle. I hope to make some good impressions with this baby! Cheers fellow Spies!

Looking forward to hearing how it went at Quail Hollow. I'm looking for a driver upgrade and all these posts have me excited about checking out the Ping products. Thanks!

  4. Greetings from SoCal! Looking forward to learning more here at MGS!

    1. How long have you been playing golf? Have "played" 30-ish years. Have "tried" to get better for 8 years. Have been actively dedicated (focused take lessons practice a few times a week) since end of Dec 2018.
What’s your handicap or normal score? Handicap says 17 but that's padded by a few <90 rounds in Oct/Nov that may have had a mulligan or two included. I shoot between 90 and 105 on a regular basis. But I'm working on it!

    2. What do you love about golf? It's my way to get away from the stress of work, responsibility of being a husband and dad. It's also one of a very few sports where you (nearly) completely control your outcome. I love that I own my score (well, not when I post 105, but you know).

    3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I don't know any other spies. I was drawn here by their product reviews and info.

    4. Where are you from? What is your home course? I live in a suburb of LA near Angeles National Forest. I haven't fully adopted a home course yet. Where I play depends on who I play with. The courses at Griffith Park are great. I have played San Dimas a couple times this year and like it. Goose Creek in the IE is a really nice value (for SoCal).

    5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Worst is EASY - it is CROWDED and SLOW!!!! If I play in 5 hours I'm happy. BEST - - Year Round weather comfortable golf! Second Best - I think there are 100 golf courses within an hour of my house. If you expand it to 2 hours, the number probably gets to 500. I can play a par 3 for $10 or I can pay $100+ for some luxury courses. And there are a LOT of options in between.

    6. What do you do for a living? I work in food safety for fresh cut produce. If you have questions about romaine lettuce from the 2018 I have more information than you really want.

    7. How’d you pick your user name? I have been shouting "Fore Right" for 30 years. Seemed natural.

  5. Played awful on Saturday. Driver was a 2 way miss including one drive that was 2 fairways left (I managed to only bogey that hole). Irons were awful, just absolutely awful. Chipping and putting was about average for me. Posted a triple digit score. UGH!

The good news is that it was 75F, the sun was shining, I walked 18, and I was the "new guy" in a local club and really enjoyed the other 3 gents I played with.

    Back to practicing this week.
