  1. Did y’all see this? Pretty big! I’m glad to see that a big company is at least taking this seriously. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  2. Awesome! I’m with you on the ‘Spin Skin’. At first I thought it was pure marketing, but there definitely seems to be something behind it around the greens. I feel like I can throw a pitch or chip shot just about all the way to the hole if I want and it will grab. They may as well also claim to have a ‘dura skin’ as well for the durability of the balls! 3. It is rare that I find the majority of any ball/brand to be perfectly balanced (but I just started doing the Epsom salt test myself). I haven’t tested my XV’s and Z-Stars yet. I’d be interested to see if you cut open the balls that were horribly balanced what they look like. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  4. I put a dot on the light side and put that dot up when putting or on the tee shot. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  5. And that’s why I’ve been doing the epsom salt test on my golf balls..... It’s actually very rare that I’ve found one to be balanced. Only one out of the 24 Kirkland’s that I bought was perfectly balanced. They weren’t crazy off, but they did have a heavy side. Same with a sleeve of the new Mizuno balls (both versions). Maybe a perfectly balanced ball isn’t the norm but a rarity? I imagine this Instagram Callaway ball would be an example of what could have caused one of those crazy 40yd offline balls from the MGS ball test. For those of you that do the epsom salt test, how often do you find a perfect ball? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  6. Awesome! I will say I love hitting pitch and chip shots with these balls. I have chipped in for either a par save or a birdie once per round since playing these balls. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. I hit it pretty poorly overall (no warmup and haven’t really hit since the simulator). Mountain Top is amazing! Huge greens with lots of slope and elevation change. Definitely one everybody should play if they are ever up there. Playing Branson Hills today!! Should be fun! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  8. The Srixon’s are hard to beat. I’m about to pull a deal on 36 mint condition non-water used XV’s for $50. I played Mountain Top in Branson Missouri yesterday (13 hole par 3 that is amazing!!!). Here are some shots. The course was bent grass and the greens were very receptive. Much more receptive than what I’m used to in Texas. The XV spun very well for me, even on shots that I hit very low and thought would not hold. The above [emoji651]️ was with a 50* SM7 wedge. This [emoji651]️ one was with a 7 iron. This [emoji651]️ was on the final hole, 90 yards with a 58* SM7 wedge. Almost had my 1st hole in one! Played all 13 holes with the same ball, lots of wedges, and it looked just like it did from before. It was the ball I used on my GC2 testing and it held up perfectly. 9. Here’s the real kicker. Even though the XV spins more on wedges and irons (according to my GC2 tests and the MGS ball test), I still feel that the XV fights the wind better than the Z-Star! Go figure. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  10. Man that’s great! Keep up the hot streak! I agree that I do not want a ball that has too much backspin. I prefer a ball that stops very close to where it lands rather than one that spins back 10ft randomly. These balls give me the confidence to be aggressive on pitch and chip shots. 11. Gotcha. I like that strategy with the difficult shots and playing multiple balls. Great idea! We’re just outside of Dallas so OKC is out of the way for our directions. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  12. We played Branson Hills last time we were there and I really loved the course! Great scenery, elevation changes (this pic is of hole #17). I’ll check into those courses! So far I’ve been playing 9 holes with each during the same round. I mostly play with other golfers so I don’t want to be anti-social or hold up the pace of play. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  13. Wednesday the 10th we get there. Looking to probably play Friday. Thanks for the help! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  14. Fellow Spies! My wife and I are getting away from the kids for a few days next week. Staying at Big Cedar in Branson, MO. Last time we went we played Branson Hills and had a blast. Looking for recommendations and/or any hookups you may have. Don’t want to spend a ton of money (just not in the budget). Ideally around $50/golfer. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  15. I’m heading to Branson, MO this week and will play at least once while there. Going to put the XV in play more than likely. If anyone has any hookups there let me know! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  16. Nice!! I wish I had jumped on the buy one get one free, but I wanted to do my comparison with the Kirkland in the GC2 first. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  17. Z-Star will feel like a ProV more so than the XV for sure. To me, the XV spins more with the wedges and irons and less with the driver, so it’s all around a better performer for me. Best combo overall. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  18. [emoji23] Hard rock challenge sounds epic!! I feel the XV has a click feel (good feel, not bad at all), and the Z-Star feels more traditional premium ball, like a ProV. Both are soft off the putter to me (not in a bad way either). Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  19. My GC2 data as well as the MGS Ball data confirm that the Z-star spins less with wedge and 7iron, and more with driver than the XV. Makes me wonder what days Srixon based the box informational graphics on..... perhaps just the driver. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  20. How would y describe the feel off the wedges on pitch shots? To me the XV has a noticeable ‘click’ feel, especially compared to the Z-Star. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  21. I’ve got a set of old McGregor blades if you ever want to pick the search back up. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  22. Thinking long and hard about it!! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  23. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Cheaper than Pro-Vs and just as much spin and performance. I’m interested to see how they work for you as well! I think the one thing we all agree on is that their durability is phenomenal. Report back after your round!! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  24. I tend to agree. Both balls handle phenomenally well with pitch and chip shots. Plenty of spin that you would expect from a premium ball. I’ve chipped in with each ball for birdie and have had sooooo many shots stop within 1-2ft of the hole for par saves. Lots of confidence with these balls that you can be aggressive and the ball will stop. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
