  1. I had no idea, my first thought was that the negative meant is was playing harder. Good to know that I was wrong. Now it makes sense and answers my original question.

    New Chromesoft

Has anyone started cutting these new balls open?
  3. This is my first posted score that involves the new playing conditions calculation. I guess this means the nine holes were playing a half stroke harder due to the weather conditions? I played in the morning. Conditions were soft cause it had poured the night before so I guess maybe I wasn't getting the normal roll out on the fairways. The weather was much worse in the afternoon that day so maybe that weather is being taken into account? Either way, the new handicap system is interesting. Anyone else had their scores adjusted due to weather?
  4. Hey thanks for posting this. I was just about to ask about good putting fitters in the Charlotte, NC or Columbia, SC area. Sounds like you had a good experience there though.
  5. Alan - South Carolina Laser range finder with slope. I think all this tech coming out to help improve people's game is great. I do think at some point tech is going to give us information overload out on the course but I think we got a few more years before that happens. Thanks for the opportunity.
  6. I always wondered about those glasses. Did they at least work as really bad sunglasses? lol
  7. My buddy and I got out at a local course this past weekend and we were paired up with another random duo. The other duo were great people and were great company during a long day at the course. We had a blistering fast pace of 4.75 hours so we had some good chats out on the tee boxes. They were awesome people. I noticed at the turn that one of the randoms had a square strike in the bag and I just kinda chuckled and didn't think much of it. We come to a hole towards the end of the round and the person with the SS proceeds to pitch a ball with what looks to be a normal wedge from right beside the cart path and has the ball run across the green and comes to rest in the rough about 40 yards from where the shot was taken. This person was left with about 30 to 40 feet to the pin. This person walks over to their ball, stands there as everyone else hits the pitch shots up and then as it was their turn says "crap, this isn't the club I want." I again kinda laughed as we have all been there before and decided the walk back to the cart is not worth it and just hit a half hearted shot with the wrong club anyways. Well this person decides that mistake isn't going to happen today and then jogs across the green, to the cart, gets the square strike and jogs back to the ball. The person then pops the ball straight up out of the rough and barely makes the green and is then left with a 25 ft putt. Which is then three putted in style by blowing it past the hole and tapped back in. I am not making fun of the person but simply making light of what I saw at the course this weekend and thought it would give a couple other people a little laugh as we try to get through another Monday work day. Anyone else got any good "as seen on TV" club stories they have seen out on the course?
  8. Toss me in with everyone else saying spikeless is the way to go. I have the 360 XT/SL (wide). I mostly walk and the only issue I have noticed was the shoe does rub the heal a little bit (mentioned in MyGolfSpy's review) but I got some thicker socks and problem solved. The boost material is the bomb.
  9. Alan/ South Carolina 13 Callaway The low driven, spiny ball.
  10. I have seen a lot of complaints about battery usage problems but I can't recall having them myself. I think a lot of it depends on how much your screen is actually on during the round and how much stuff you have running in the background. I have noticed about 30% to 40% usage for a round depending on the pace of play. Did have one round use about 50% but that was also because I was playing music through a speaker and texting most of the round. I was basically by myself on the course so I wasn't holding people up or anything. Once you get 180 holes logged (I think that is the right number at least) you get access to the "preview caddie" and I have found that to be very useful as you can preview an entire course before you even go out there. Great for planning out course management before a tournament or just a friendly money game. I would say the club selection it tells you on each hole is pretty good also. Only on occasion it will tell me to hit driver on a line I can't because the trees are too tall or something similar to that.
  11. I have the Arccos system and have 26 rounds under my belt. I really enjoy using the system and have found it really easy to use. Out of the 26 rounds, I have only had a had few of shots that did not register (not including putting). The only exception was one round that was played in poor weather conditions and it was too dark in some spots so the sensors did not turn on as there wasn't enough light to activate them. Really cool thing to mention, I got an email from Arccos less than a day later saying they had noticed I had manually recorded an abnormally high amount of shots during the round and wanted to make sure everything was okay with my senors. After a quick email back and worth, the support person confirmed it was most likely due to not having enough light outside for the sensors to work properly. I already knew that this was a downside of the system so I was not bothered in any way as it was expected. The stats given by the system are very solid and reliable. I have spent some time digging around the dashboard on my computer and have found some interesting things about my game and areas that are really, really holding me back (pitching/chipping). Having to have my phone in my pocket took a couple rounds to get used to but now it is weird playing without it. I have a large phone also but that all comes down to personal preference. As mentioned by other people, the Apple Watch app is neat, but I don't have one so have no input on that. I have, however, pre-ordered the Arccos Link which will allow me to take my phone out of my pocket. They are supposed to be including a "flag tagging" button on the device so the whole issue about not knowing exactly where the pin is will be no more for me at least. Overall my experience with the product has been great and their customer service has been very quick and easy to work with as well. It does take a couple rounds to get used to having the phone in the pocket. I also just quickly just check my phone after each hole to make sure the correct score and number of putts is recorded but that takes the time for me to walk from the green to the cart to do.
  12. Thanks for all the input everyone. I have decided to hold off on the endeavor for a little bit. Went out and shot a 99 which was mostly due to forgetting how to hit my current irons for the round. I'm just gonna grind out my current irons for a while till I can "figure it out" again. LOL
  13. Been looking around ebay here and there, looks like some solid buys there. @cnosil Are those the ones with wood shafts? I think I am looking for something a little more modern than that.
  14. Just as the title says. I play rouge pro irons right now but when I go out to the course with my wife I just play from her tee with only irons. I thought it would be fun to play with some blades just to kinda add a little something else to the game. Would like something under $100 in a perfect world. $200 would probably be my max. Anyone got any ideas on where I can look? I know people sometimes find gems in Goodwill so I will look there whenever I get a chance. Any other ideas? Thanks
  15. The guys over at GolfWRX have some good podcasts as well.
  16. Not sure if anyone else has said this or not, but check out a refurbished model of the clicgear 3.5+ on clicgear's website. You will have to call to see if they have any in stock but it is basically the same as buying new but much cheaper. The clicgear is the best for sure. They will last forever so you won't have to worry about replacing it. Heard stories of people buying a cheaper cart and it only lasting a year or two before having to buying another one. Spend the extra money for the better product if you can, it is worth it in the long run.
  17. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Started playing when I was 5 off and on. Played a good bit during college but stopped after leaving for grad school. Finally started playing consistently again last year. Current index is 13.0. What do you love about golf? I enjoy how hard it is. It makes those good shots feel that much better. I also enjoy golf as it allows me to get my mind away from work and just focus on getting a little ball into a little hole. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Used the buyer's guides in the past and stumbled onto the forums around when the ball testing and all that was going on. I have played golf with a with people that reference the site so that has been cool. Where are you from? What is your home course? Bylthewood, SC - I am a new member at Cobblestone Park in Bylthewood. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best is I can pretty much golf year-round. The worst is the summers are rough. I would rather walk the course but really don't enjoy walking a full 18 in the summer heat. What do you do for a living? I'm an accountant. How’d you pick your user name? Its just my name.
  18. Alan / South Carolina 13.1 I have the putt out pressure putt training in my office but have never used a mat or gate.

Forgot where I heard it, but pretty much any pro that is playing a Chromesoft ball is not playing the retail version. Except for Phil's triple track ball. Kinda blew my mind hearing that.
  20. Alan - Blythewood, South Carolina 13.1 Index Rogue Pro Would like to test the Black Cat irons.
  21. Started the season with the Chrome Soft X because that is what the ball my club fitter told me to play, but he is also a Callaway staffer so that is what he is going to push. After seeing the ball testing here is decided to test a few different balls for myself. After testing the Chrome Soft X against the Pro V1, TourB X, and the two Snell MTB balls, I have decided to go with the TourB X. Just seems to fit me the best.
