  1. I feel the same way about it. The funny thing is my league partner hits Ping Irons and he loves his Vice. I have tried hitting his clubs and haven't been able to hit them well ha. Just made me chuckle when you mentioned it. I did notice the MTB X was a little clicky with the putter as well. I've decided I'm going to stick with the Black this year and see how they end up. I played yesterday and it was 48 degrees here. I don't think I was swinging full and warmed up until about the 8th tee.
  2. We'll it snowed yesterday..... I've been able to get out a couple times at least. But a few things I've noticed playing with them. The MTB-X does fair a little better in the wind. But with the approach shots I do feel like I've had really good distance control. It's been very consistent. Looking forward to using them when the weather starts getting above 50 again! And a side note. One of my league partners mentioned that it seemed like the ball was flying off the face and crushed. I was driving into the wind and it wasn't going as far as we thought. But I think that was more wind than the ball. Other than that. No new updates.
  3. We did notice that the vice were getting cut up a lot more with the wedges too. Interesting that you found that too.
  4. It's wasn't as much on the 56 and 50. More towards the 9 and 8 I guess. But I could definitely feel and see it come off the face quicker. It was also my concern when I saw it happening if it was something I was doing. Distance isn't an issue for me. Control is more important and my groups were tighter and more accurate with the MTB Black. It's been driving me crazy not being able to go try the simulator again or some on course testing. But I'll be patient ... I guess
  5. I find quite a few on our course. But for me I usually stick to the ball I've been using. My golfing partner loves hitting proVs but orders Vice with his works logo. So I usually trade him for a vice
  6. I was using the Vice Pro and Pro+. The two vice and the MTB X were all very similar to me. I think you can't go wrong with any of them.
  7. Hi All, I just wanted to share my experience with Vice and Snell. It all started last year. I was a little in between on ball selection with the Vice Pro and Pro+. Then while I was playing i found a Snell MTB-Black near the hazard that I picked up and figured I'd give it a try. I played that ball for about 5 weeks at league and a few rounds during that time. So I was intrigued as I had never even heard about them. My friend that I always golf with was skeptical. And frankly stubborn. He was convinced he had the ball he wanted to always play. So here's what I ended up doing: I ordered the sample pack that has two sleeves of the MTB-X and MTB-Black. I already had some Vice on me that were brand new. I took all four balls and covered all the markings with a marker. Boxed it all off equally trying to not let on what any could have been. We live in North Dakota so it's just indoor simulators for us right now. But we went to the range. I told my buddy it was just to get a few swings in. So we get started, I pull the range session up and we start looking at all the details. I'd put 1-4 on the ball and only I knew which was which, then I asked him to do the same for me. So let's see what these can do in a blind test. It was really eye opening when you don't have the preconceived idea of what a ball is supposed to do and what it actually does. I was actually very impressed with the Snell MTB- Black results the most. I'll have to do this again but in an order and clearly marked to show some data points for all the trackman number for the data nerds like me. All of the numbers we were seeing, he was convinced it was his Vice. But I saw a significant jump from 10-15 yds with PW-8 iron. I was thinking about it as it could potentially cause me to change up some club selections it was making such a difference. The ball would just absolutely fly off the face. I could even feel the difference. Now the reason I say this is when you look at the website trying to decide. Their chart is kind of confusing. It has the same details for driving and around the green. But differences with feel and spin. It just made me chuckle because it made me wonder why show it if they are the same. But as I did the research, which I probably do way to much of, it made me realize what Snell was going for and he really does simplify it when watching the videos. Keep in mind he's trying to market them. With the other 3 balls I would say they were all around the same spin rate, distance, launch, etc. There wasn't a noticable difference when hitting the Pro and Pro+ between each other for me. Which makes sense why I could never decide between the two. Although I will say, what I like about these 3 was that the spin was down a little bit. And if you've ever been to the frozen tundra of the Red River Valley. " It's windy" can the biggest understatement I could ever make in this post. We can have some great weather in the summer. Don't get me wrong, it's worth the cold in my opinion. But some days it can be 30mph winds at league and you just have to figure it out. There are not many trees around. So what I'm going to do is still have some MTB-X on hand for those windy days. That ball will really have it's advantages on those days. I just wanted to write a little story about how things may not be as they seem when you know what you are hitting. And to try something new. I was thoroughly impressed and I'll be gaming some MTB-Black to start the year. With an MTB-X on standby. And yes, my friend said throw an extra dozen of the MTB-Black on the order too. He seemed be convinced to throw a few in the bag this year also. Order some samples, maybe get a friend to set up a blind test for you too? Then it will inspire you to know you have the right ball for you, whichever it may be. And hit some drives. But really work the scoring clubs. Use your wedges and the 9 or 8 iron. That's where you want to get those birdie chances and confidence from. Thanks for taking the time to read my opinion on this. I'm going stir crazy here since the outbreak and we still have a lot of snow. But warm weather is coming and hopefully opening the courses in April. That is all. Take care
  8. Didn't realize I wasn't signed in. You can delete this one
  9. Need to add one that says "I Wish" still a lot of white stuff up north. We got another inch this week but sun and warm are coming. Can't go to the simulator. Almost ordered one ha
  10. Right on! I'll keep you posted. It hasn't seen the course yet. On the rack in the garage. If I decide I want something new I'll let you know. OGIO makes some great bags.
  11. I had an old set of Big Bertha's that I won through work. Those were so nice to hit. Then I borrowed them to my dad and he never let me have them back ha
  12. Nice! I changed my bag this season too! I went back to the OGIO Convoy and I'm already looking at new bags again. I really like it but there's always a shiny new toy. Looking to swap out the Mizuno 50 for the new Vokey. I really want to add a portable launch monitor. Thought I had it dialed in then Ernest comes out with the new B1. Guess I'll start over!
  13. I was able to get a bunch of rounds in this last week with it. I had league as well as a 3 man scramble over the weekend. And on our way to the scramble we hit up a course. I was able to get about 90 holes in over 5 days. And I tell you that this putter saved me some strokes. The greens were a little slower on the course we hit before the scramble weekend. After a couple holes I was able to dial in. I used the 1-2 cadence in my head to try to get consistent pace while hitting. That gave me better control. On Saturday I was putting real well. I had about a 35 ft bomb that I picked a spot and it rolled true. I had similar feel on Sunday during the flighted round. I left quite a few short by just one or two revolution though. I attribute that partly to the fact we were 1st tee time in the morning. The dew was slowing us a little. But it was better the back 9 as things dried up. It was enjoyable and that little extra roll definitely helped me when I was putting on the courses I wasn't used to playing. I'm a big fan and it will be staying in my bag for the foreseeable future. And another update on the customer service side. I called the number and they shipped me out the SS Toulon grip no problem. Excited to get those in the mail and ready to roll
  14. Great review. Thanks for taking the time. I picked up a Toulon Design Atlanta with the stroke lab shaft. It's incredible on the practice green at the course and at home. Tomorrow is league night so I'll get my first chance to putt some real shots with it. It definitely feels like there is something to that counter balancing going on. I switched from a TaylorMade Mullen 2 which is 10 grams lighter. And it feels like a feather in comparison. But the stroke feels so smooth. I can also see a little more carry on the ball with my stroke. Where my TM would tend to lose momentum. This Toulon/Stroke Lab seems to carry the ball with some extra speed well and it rolls out nice. Lastly, I have to give a shout-out to Callaway-Odyssey customer service. I reached out to them since I was being unnecessarily particular about the head cover. I really like the blade style and this one came with a Mallet style. They were gracious enough to send me a blade style and gave me a number to call so I could discuss getting regripped with my favorite pistol style grip from super stroke. They have it with the Toulon Design from the design garage and I got mine from the clubhouse. So big thanks to Callaway customer service from a very happy customer.
  15. Has anyone tried using those silver sharpies and put a dot on the ball instead of the sticker? I'm curious if that would help the sticker situation on the MEVO Also, I heard they added spin to the app on the SC300. But I need the Android capability. Waiting on that currently. I like the ability to just use the monitor if I want to and not rely on the app. So the SC300 currently has my slight advantage. But I've been recording my swing so it's neat to have that with the MEVO. Primarily looking for gapping distances and practicing shots. Even if it's consistently short 5-10 yards. I can adapt that to the course. I'd occasionally use it on the course I think. Especially when I have the distance dialed in with the range finder.
