  1. Figured some of you guys needed to update your style, so here's the Ping 2021 Apparel collection for Men and Women. https://www.nationalclubgolfer.com/news/ping-2021-apparel/ Get geared up for the season!
  2. You mean you DON'T want to be a tough guy and hit it from the black Tee's and then score a triple bogey? In all seriousness, I'm right there with you. Given my current distance with the new driver I often think, "boy, I should back up!" but then I look at my scores and realize...nope, White/Blue is fine for me, haha.
  3. So, instead of getting a full set, another option is to really cut it down to just the "essential clubs" that someone might need to play. No sense in buying a full set of irons when beginner will only hit 2-3 irons out of the whole set. Here's another thought on the subject: Driver Hybrid (optional) Mid-iron (a 6 or 7-iron) Low-lofted wedge (Pitching wedge) High-lofted wedge (56 or 60 degree) Putter
  4. I think Golf Digest has a mole in our midst! https://www.golfdigest.com/story/7-florida-golf-trips-we-can-t-wait-to-take Any of you guys played these courses and is it worth the splurge?
  5. Cobra just released a new "snakebite" wedge groove design: Synopsis - The new King Cobra wedges feature a new groove design (“Snakebite”) that pushes the USGA’s limitations on geometry, volume and sharpness thanks to more aggressive manufacturing tolerance. The new grooves, which extend all the way across the face on the higher lofts, feature edges that are 40 percent less rounded than on past models, an effort to grab the ball’s cover on short shots for more spin. The grooves also are deeper to help channel grass and moisture more effectively for more direct contact between ball and groove edge. Link
  6. Read a somewhat interesting article recently about the impact Bryson has had on the LPGA - indirectly, mind you, but an impact all the same. In an effort to combat the "distance problem" many tour organizes are lengthening all courses, including those on the LPGA and adversely impacting it's appeal to it's core audience. Pretty interesting read and curious what you guys think - should they shorten LPGA courses to make them more engaging to watch or is that pandering? If we don't shorten them, does that create a negative perception on the Ladies game since they can't reach Par 5's in 2 shots? Lots to digest and would love your input! 7. Agree! Wife and I loved it! I have no doubt the stories that come out during the Champions Dinner are legendary at times.
  8. Ah, understand the limitations. We have some cool Member Test lined up this year and i'm pretty sure there will be at least one Putter test...maybe two We'll see about the Intl Shipping piece, though!
  9. ESPN will be airing a documentary about the 2020 Masters giving an unprecedented look at behind the scenes action for the most unusual tournament played in November. Looks pretty cool and first airing is Tonight @ 7pm EST https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2021/03/documentary-offers-first-ever-inside-look-at-making-of-the-masters-tournament/
  10. Do you find a point of diminishing returns with this approach? EG: you're spending more money than it's worth to eek that last bit of performance out of your setup?
  11. We might be able to help you out on that front later this year
  12. After a close finish, let's take a look at what The Players winner, Justin Thomas, had in his bag to secure victory at the first major of the year! What Justin Thomas had in the bag at the 2021 Players Championship Ball: Titleist Pro V1x Driver: Titleist TS3, 9.5 degrees 3-wood: Titleist TS3, 15 degrees 5-wood: Titleist 915Fd, 18 degrees Irons (4): Titleist T100; (5-9): Titleist 620 MB; (PW): Titleist Vokey SM7 Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM7 (52 1/2 degrees); Titleist Vokey SM8 (57, 60 1/2 degrees) Putter: Scotty Cameron by Titleist X5.5
  13. Alright, so the history rumors state that William Willet, one of the chief proponents of DST in England, wanted the change to allow more time for GOLF?!?! Apparently so... (article) Anyway, I guess it works out well for us, but who knew that Golf was one of the main reasons for the adoption of DST and all you guys getting your time mixed up today
  14. Golf Digest just had an article about emotional attachment to clubs and the dangers it my pose to your game...and maybe your health! https://www.golfdigest.com/story/emotional-attachment-golf-club-editors-letter I know I have personally been guilty of hanging on to a club for far too long - pick your reason why, but often times the sentimentality negatively impacted my game, especially as my swing has changed over the years. The old Ping Persimmon Woods that I used to be able to absolutely crush come to mind...on the flip side, I'm still rocking my Ping Anser putter and haven't found anything that provides the same consistency. What do you guys think?
  15. Something tells me they knew exactly what they were doing when they gave it the name, haha
  16. I didn't see any age restrictions... #justsaying
  17. I know most of us are gainfully employed or retired, but if you need to take a sabbatical, I think I've found the perfect opportunity! https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2021/03/11/golf-internship-50-rounds/ Submit your applications quickly
  18. According to this article (link) from Forbes, there's a new style of mini-golf coming to the US. Has anyone been to one of the Swingers locations over in the UK? Would love to hear about your experience, otherwise we might need to get a group of members close to the DMV area to plan a trip and "course review" What are your thoughts? Silly and dumb, or inspired and fun?
  19. Hey guys, Read through a recent article over at golf.com (link) talking about ways to save money on a golf guys/buddies trip. Most of the ideas seemed like no brainers, so I thought I would open it up to you guys! What are some of the best ways to save some coin while still maximizing fun?
  20. Good question! Honestly @GolfSpy MPR or @Golfspy_CG2 would be better to answer as they know the mod system better than I do right now (only in my second month, haha!)
  21. Your partner in the pants has got style for miles Love the variety in this pic, thanks for sharing!!
  22. Oh man, you KNOW Reed would push the limits of that rule the first chance he gets, lol
  23. Hey Guys - Quick note. First time I tried to Merge a thread - I started a very similar thread today into this one and thought I was doing it correctly, but I did it backwards (copied the OG thread, when I should have copied the new thread). Apologies to the members who were commenting on this topic previously and hopefully you can forgive the oversight as I still learn all the particular nuances of the system! Regarding the topic at hand - I'm in the camp of "play it where it lies." It sucks that happened to Lee, but it could have been anybody and we all have to deal with it. I realize it's even more prevalent on the Tour given there is a "landing zone" that can get pretty chewed up by Sunday of a tournament, but that's what separates the pros from the joes - they can still get on the green from that divot while we'd be in the woods or bunker, haha!
  24. Coming up on the 1year anniversary when the world was turned upside down and realize ESPN has a new 30 for 30 out (or coming soon) regarding March 11, when the world basically stopped. Found an interesting read from them about The Players Championship, what went down, and the confusion that ran rampant through all the tour players, fans, and staff...pretty wild looking back a year ago... https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/31011669/nobody-knew-was-going-how-golf-sports-stopped-players-championship
  25. The guys over at Golf Digest dug into some advanced metrics and found that in the lead up to the Players Championship one unsung player is often overlooked - Ken Duke. Probably not a guy you've heard of, but the podcast was an interesting listen and very neat to see the tour players apply some of the same tech we see in other sports (namely motorsports come to my mind) finding their way into "stodgy," "old guard" golf and how it can shape their approach to a course and tournament. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/greatest-round-players-championship-history-strokes-gained-ken-duke
