A smooth pitching wedge from 150??? Try a 6 iron for me.So close, great shot

Thank you and haha yes I can understand that. Distance has never really been an issue with me as I hit my 7 iron 190 on a smooth swing. Been working on distance control mostly now.

I got my 3rd ace 4 years after I had my knee replaced.  I'm racking them up at at a pace of 1 every 8 years.

My wife has been playing golf for 55 years and has never had one, unless you count the one on the driving range in Tucson 8 years ago.  LOL

I am only 20 years old.. looks like my best option is to just get my knee replaced. I'll let you guys know how it turns out!

I would offer that the value of iron fitting increases as the golfer deviates from average build, to the point of being most important for someone like me at 6’4” with long legs.

This is funny because I had the exact same problem as I am 6'5. I bought new irons last year without even thinking about standard length vs what I should have. The workers at Golf Galaxy looked at me like I was insane haha.

  5. Interestingly enough, I have always played about 6900 yards at my home course. I never realized that it is actually fairly further than most courses. I generally hit the ball pretty far (7 iron from 190 yards- 200 if i hit it hard) so I never really noticed it being an insanely long course. I really want to see and play a course where it would really challenge me and force me to hit 5 irons into greens to see what I would end up shooting.

One of my buddies was doing that and the final cure for him was simply going to a more neutral grip. Are you seeing 2 or 3 knuckles of your left hand at address?

Make sure you have a neutral right angle of stance to target line and soften your grip by one knuckle and have a few rips, and adjust your grip after a few good hits, until you dial it in.

youve got to be careful at how you go after this, as you don’t want to compound a problem with additional incorrect “cures”. If this doesn’t smooth the hook out, you’d better get an assessment from a pro to make sure your natural swing doesn’t have a little glitch that’s causing your problem...

Yes, I think it might be a grip issue as well. I will try that today and see how it helps me. Thank you for the analysis, I appreciate it. Keep you guys updated!

  7. Does anyone have any tips on why I am hooking all of my irons lately? I don't know if i am in my own head or if it is my grip or any other causes. I managed to pull out a 41 yesterday on nine holes with only 1 par. 2 birdies but other than that par 3 scoring was horrendous with double bogeys on both. I was striking the ball well just overdrawing waaaaayyyyyy off my intended line.

A WITB from Far North Queensland (FNQ). A mixed bag of old and new, traditional and high tech.

    • Driver - Cobra F9 with HZRDUS Smoke 6.0 (tipped 3/4")  set to 9°. The 14gm weight in the back of the head and a 10gm weight is in the front. I like a heavier swing weight.
    • Fairway - Cobra F9 3-4 wood with HZRDUS Smoke 6.5 set to 15.5°. 4gm Tungsten weight added to sole near leading edge to add swing weight and reduce spin.
    • 2 Iron - Mizuno MP-H5 with DG X100 shaft. Used for really tight fairways or really long par 3's.
    • 3 Hybrid - Ping G30 19° hybrid with stock stiff soft. I use this one for 210-215 yard shots out of the rough and bad lies, or  where I need it to stop quick. The softer shaft helps get extra height.
    • 4-5 Iron - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged with DG X100 shaft.
    • 6-PW - Mizuno MP-64 irons with KBS Tour FLT 130 (X-flex) shafts.
    • Sand Wedge - Mizuno T7 56° wedge with DG S300 shaft.
    • Lob Wedge - Callaway PM Grind 58° (bent to 59°) at 1° flat with stock KBS shaft.
    • Putter - Evnroll ER7CS in 33"
    • Golf Ball -  I've been using the Srixon Z-Star, but currently testing the Snell MTB-X.

I'm currently considering replacing my irons with either Callaway X-Forged 18 irons or a combo set of Mizuno MP-18 irons (SC in PW-6 and MMC in 5-4) as they are now 5 years old. I may also add a 50° T7 gap wedge and drop the Ping hybrid out of the bag.

  9. Hello everyone,

So happy to become part of these forums as everyone here is very interesting and I am loving the different conversations between everyone. I am from Troy, Michigan and am about a 9 handicap. Trying to shoot low this summer as I just shot my lowest round on 9 holes from the tips which was +2, 38. So glad to join everyone!

I've played the original course three times.  The fairways are generous, the bunkers are deep (so is the fescue), and the place is fantastic!  I'm headed back in August to play the new South Course.  Be prepared for wind, from every direction, and for the wind to change multiple times during the day.  I'll pray that y'all get sunny weather at a minimum.  It's my favorite place on the planet.  Save time at the end to sit with a drink in the Adirondack chairs on the hill by 18 green and watch some other groups come in.

Thank you! Sounds awesome, i am very excited.

  11. Driver- Taylormade M2 with aldila rip beta Xstiff (newer model)

Utility iron-P790 2 iron Hzrdus Xstiff

4 hybrid- RBZ tour hybrid stock stiff shaft

4-PW irons - Taylormade PSI irons stiff KBS tour shafts

    52 Degree- Cleveland RTX 3

56 Degree- Callaway Mack Daddy 3

60 Degree- Taylormade milled grind wedge

Putter- Scotty Cameron Futtura X5 putter dual balance

  12. Hey guys,

My question is: Has anyone ever bought and used clubs off Dhgate? I want to know how they perform compared to how good as they look. The manufacturers are calling them OEM which means original equipment manufacturer suggesting they are real and if not, of very similarities. Please let me know if they perform as the should.

    Appreciate it

I'd say they're fake , some buddy's have ordered other products claim real authenticity of the brand and it came and was a great replica. Just my experiences with dhgate

How did they perform? Considering they are most likely counterfeit.
