  1. The Buy/Sell/Trade thread is probably going to be the spot you want to post this, as opposed to a thread directed towards questions and comments about the TS-1s
  2. I know the point of this thread is to show our heart-wrenchingly close calls, but I couldn't remember if I've really had any close ones this year yet. Just double checked Arccos, closest I have this season is just 10'. I'm going to need to start scaring the hole a lot more frequently if I want to change my hole in one status!
  3. Played a round with @edingc this morning at the course my weekly league is on - first time I've ever played all 18 in one day though. Even with an OB drive on 4 (which turned into a bogey), and a 3-putt double bogey on 8, I struck the ball really really well. I think it helped playing with someone who actually knew as much (well, probably more ) than me, and I think that helped me stay focused. Putter held me back a little bit, but still ended up with my 3rd best 18 hole handicap differential! 41/39 - 80 (+9, net -2) 4/13 FIR 10/18 GIR Putts: 36
  4. Great read, thanks for sharing!! Fascinating results. When I'm next up for wedges I'm going to need to try and find a local Edel fitter and experience it for myself.
  5. League tonight, I had about 130 to the flag with some wind hurting and off the left. I was in the fairway, but blocked out by some trees to get to the green. I didn't have much of a chip out to the fairway, or much of an option to punch something low either. Decided I'd go with a 30 yard slice, and figured if it went straight I'd likely just end up in some bunkers. Opened up the stance, ball forward a hair, channeled my inner Tiger and let it rip! Landed on the left side of the green with a ton of side-spin, and spun all the way to the right side of the green. Just how we drew it up!
  6. Got an Amazon gift card for switching phone carriers, turned it into 2 Srixon all weather golf gloves (my go-to when it's a little drizzly or I'm particularly sweaty), a 4 pack of Kirkland signature gloves, and an oil filter wrench to boot!
  7. My brother in law and I got to play The South Course at Arcadia Bluffs yesterday, one of the premier public courses in Michigan. They built it a couple years ago, to compliment The Bluffs course which is one of the most popular can't miss tracks in the state. The South Course is a true links course, which was new to us haha. Very open and flat, only 1 or 2 trees on the entire course. Tons of bunkers and reeeeally hard greens. If you're approach was from the rough or was any club longer than a gap wedge, you needed at least a club less because of the runout. The design was loosely inspired by the Chicago Golf Club, with very linear greens, bunkering and fairways. It was absolutely gorgeous, and I would highly recommend anyone playing it. Such a unique design and experience. Here's the 12th hole par 3, one of the few holes with significant elevation change. It's a huge horse shoe green with a bunker in the front. I actually played pretty solid. Best driving day I've had, and probably best out of the sand I've ever played too. I think I ended up with 4 up & downs from the sand. On the front I was able to stay out of the pot bunkers and tricky spots, and found my way into a few more on the back, so ended up with a 41/45:86. Left a couple strokes out there but it was the kind of day where we were trying to just enjoy a treat of a course and not get too upset by our scores. Such a great experience!
  8. My buddy got an off-brand mallet putter and let me roll a few putts with it. It did feel really stable and easy to get started on line, I might need to get my hands on some mallets at the shop up the street and see if it can beat out my Evnroll
  9. Love their stuff! I got the AC boardwalkers not too long ago, and those puppies are so breathable and comfortable!
  10. Let's gooooooo!!! Awesome round, you're game is really trending in the right direction this year!
  11. Yeah, that was really strange. Don't they usually hold the crowd back with ropes? I'm a little confused how they thought ~15 police officers and event volunteers were going to hold back thousands of people with just their bare arms.
  12. Not to mention this kind of a course layout that is super demanding off the tee has to be about the worst potential track for Phil's game coming into the PGA...just makes it that much more unbelievable that he put together such an incredible week. Even when Tiger won the Masters against the odds, you couldn't deny the course sets up well for him and he's probably forgotten more about Augusta than many of the young bucks even know. Phil winning this week is crazy, baffling, and absolutely awesome!
  13. Had 42 putts today, that was pretty exciting
  14. There's a good chunk of tee shots at Western that I flip back and forth on whether or not I should just try to rip driver or go more conservative. Some spots the trees are just flat out dead like 11, but 10 I've found myself right a ton and seem to mostly luck out and still have a decent look at the green. It's tough too when the conservative play is still super super tight, then I end up 150 yards away in the middle of trees instead of 50 yards haha. From a DECADE perspective, I'd have to imagine a lot of these holes are the ones Scott would kinda throw his hands up and say there's not a clear winner.
  15. I'd highly recommend looking into Tour Edge's hybrid offerings. I was a tester for the EXS Pro and loved it. After some swing changes this winter I thought I would be replacing it with a driving/utility iron. For the first chunk of the season I put a utility iron in the bag, to realize I nearly never hit my 3 wood. I put the hybrid back in the bag in place of the 3 wood with promising results so far - it's really hot and I don't feel like it's a hook machine that some people say make them weary of hybrids. I've also hit the EXS 220, and liked that one a lot as well. Launches a bit higher and a bit more forgiving than the Pro. You might be able to find some pretty good deals on them now that the C721 line is out - although that looks like a great head too.
  16. Got behind some trees with my tee shot on a par 5 today, which left me about 205 to the green, hurting and off the left. The only shot I had without curvature would have been about a 100 yard shot to a very small portion of the fairway. I decided to play a big cut around the tree in front of me to try and get it somewhere in front of the green. If I would have hit it straight on my starting line (red arrow), I probably would have been wet or potentially even OB. Gave it a swat, and it rode the wind perfectly, just in front of the green (Pink line showing bird's eye ball path)!!
  17. Played an outstanding round of league tonight! FIR: 3/6 GIR: 7/9 Putts: 18 Had one birdie, one bogey and one double - the really only "bad" shot of the day for me was on the double. Chunky tee shot left me in front of a tree, so I was going to just punch a 4 iron under some branches and get me a short pitch onto the green...I hit the trunk and bounced it in the water haha. But just a super super solid round otherwise. Arccos had me at a +5 HCP for my approach game, which is by far a best for me. Just feel really good standing over the ball the last few rounds! Can't complain about that!
  18. As annoying as that is, I believe you are correct and it's OB - or more generally whatever situation the ball ends up after hitting the cart path you'd deal with exactly the same as if it ended in the same position but didn't hit the cart path to get there
  19. Personal best from the back tees at a course I play pretty frequently. And they had the greens rolling fast as well as some really tough pins; I think they had some sort of tournament going on earlier in the weekend. 38/43: 81 (+9, net -4) FIR: 6/14 GIR: 9/18 Putts: 34 Especially with the tough pin placements, I'm thrilled to go this low. And my buddy and I were both running out of steam down the back 9 because we didn't bring enough water and snacks, which lead to a few mental lapses. I was hitting it sooo pure, which just feels so darn good. A couple times I took the back of the green yardage because of a back pin and sailed the green, leaving myself short sided. My only triple of the day came after thinning a sand wedge over the green, which hit the cart path and bounced 10 feet back into some thick woods. Just a silly mental lapse tendency I get towards the back end of rounds where I'll be talking to my playing partner about something other than golf and just don't take a minute to focus on the shot before I line it up. Same thing happened on the par 3 17th, a 200ish yard tricky par 3. I flared it so far right I ended up hitting a provisional (which I was actually focused on, and hit it to about 20 feet of course), found my original and was fortunate to come away with bogey. All in all fantastic day. I'm not letting myself think too much about what it could have been, because it was still my best from those tees with a ton of really great shots. I was on two different par 5s in two shots, which I think is a personal best for me as well!
  20. Should be an interesting week! Tough to know who to go with, Rory and Speith are both in good form but it's tough to say if they're "back" enough to take down a major field. Some of the other top dogs have been a little more quiet coming in (DJ, Rahm, Morikawa, Bryson). No matter what though, major tournament weeks are always a blast!
  21. New to me course, with probably the best tee to green game I've ever had - just didn't have it going with the flat stick. 41/42: 83 (+11, net +1) 9/16 FIR 9/18 GIR 37 Putts I missed 10 putts within 20 feet either for birdie or to save par - and putting is usually my strength! I don't expect to even hit the majority within that range, but there were a ton of make-able looks that just didn't go down. I started off with bad reads, and towards the end of the round just started to doubt the line. However, my tee and approach game was phenomenal. I had one driver I lost OB right on the front, everything else was really really tidy (for me). Irons were really pure and I was really consistent off the tee mostly with my driving iron but solid when I pulled driver too. I'm a little bummed I couldn't take advantage on the greens, but to score 1 over my HCP on a new course I really can't complain too much no matter how it happens!
  22. My wife and I got an offer accepted on a house! Market was every bit as crazy as advertised, but we'd been saving up for a few years so we decided to jump in. Inspections went well the other day, now we're pretty much waiting on appraisal and some mostly formalities, but we should have some digs of our own sometime this summer!
  23. Pretty bad day of league. Second league night of the season and I have yet to hit a fairway. Went for a 48 with 3 penalties off the tee box, reeeeally need to clean that up
  24. Oh man, that's a great read! Really puts a lot of the struggles he had later in his career into perspective with his upbringing, and comes around full circle on the redemption he was able to find in the later years of his life. My favorite story was probably when he kept hitting the shots at the carnival and just kept backing up Such a talented player!
  25. Had a 2 hour frost delay this morning, but once we got out put together a very tidy round! Finally had a round I knew I was capable of after a slow start to the season! 41/42: 83 (+11, net -3) 4/18 FIR 7/18 GIR (including a 6 hole streak from 11 to 15!) 34 putts (1 3-putt, 3 1-putts) Had some fantastic shots, including a 384 yd drive (see Shot of the Day thread), 280 yard and 264 yard 3 iron on two tight tricky par 4's (thank you Ben Hogan UiHi), and a number of short iron/wedges that I had great contact and distance control. Had a few stinker holes where I made bogey and shouldn't have, and made 2 doubles, but for me that's pretty darn good. Short game was solid but not perfect, which left me with a lot of putts just outside of high % make range. Putting was solid but not outstanding either, I had a lot of chances for birdie or par saves from 10-15 feet that didn't fall - but still played well enough tee to green to get a really solid score together!
