  1. There are so many variabilities in club options these days. I feel like it's an advantage to have all clubs fitted (putter too). Personally, I really like Club Champion.
  2. It's a good time to use direct-ship golf ball companies like Snell or Vice. I personally really like the Vice Pro. I feel like I'm playing a tour quality ball for $25 a dozen.
  3. First tee time of the day. Nobody in front. Everything is waking up. Dew lines to the hole. Home before my wife wakes up.
  4. That’s a solid routine. I spend most my time with my wedge on a chipping green. If I have it to myself, I’ll hit shots to all 4 flags and won’t move on until I get up and down. It’s a stroke saver.
  5. Usually 18. 36 every chance I get. Once did 72 holes in a day...woke up crazy sore, but wouldn't done it again!
  6. I've been using Grint for two years as a "handicap member". That means I just paid for the new WHS handicap. I also tried Diablo and like Grint better - mainly for aesthetics. I typically used Golfshot during my round for GPS and to track stats.
  7. My favorite 19th hole beverage is a mule. Usually Kentucky (bourbon), but I do not discriminate - Moscow (vodka), Mexican (tequila), London (gin), Cuban (rum). Paired with ginger beer and some fresh lime juice - - these go down easy and fast!
  8. I use a classic grip; however, I recently switched to a Flat Cat putter grip to reduce wrist rotation. So far, so good!
  9. I really like the Snell MBTX. However, have you considered Vice. The Vice Pro is $5 cheaper per dozen and performs similarly.
  10. I was 2-under with one hole to play. I'm a 9 and had never been that close to par or better. I chunked the driver and double-bogeyed the hole. It still stings.
  11. I downloaded Big Break (Mexico) from Amazon to watch some golf!
  12. I love my LW. I add forward press and use a putting stroke for a one hop and stop. Tap in birdie.
  13. On dry days, I love to wear my Nike running shoes. They're extremely comfortable. I also don't notice any balance or slipping issues.
  14. Wife: what can I say to get you to stop swinging in the house? Me: there's nothing you can say
  15. I had a great experience at https://clubchampiongolf.com. I ended up keeping my current Scotty, but they bent the shaft to improve my lie. And fitted me for a new grip "Flat Cat" to reduce wrist movement. I plan on doing all my fittings at Club Champion in the future.
  16. Wolf is our favorite. Pressuring someone to go lone wolf is the best.
  17. Making my only hole-in-one was special. I want to experience that again!
  18. I'm working on hitting up on my drivers. Here's a tip from GolfTec: Tee up your driver like usual and place another peg into the ground about four inches in front of it along the target line about the same height as your teed-up ball. Place a third tee about two inches behind the teed-up ball along the target line, this one laid flat on the ground. Hit shots repeatedly in this fashion and try to miss both the front and back tees. Diagnosis If you miss the forward tee but hit the back tee (shown at left below) … your body is likely moving too far away from the target or ball, or that your wrists have started to “release” too early, which can create too much dynamic loft at impact and even make you hit the ground behind the ball, neither of which are good for long, consistent drives. If you miss the back tee but hit the forward tee with these shots (shown center below) … your angle of approach is descending too much, which means your upper body has likely moved too far toward the target or ball, and that you have inconsistent contact, “ballooned” shots with too much spin, and varying trajectory patterns from swing to swing. If you miss both tees (shown at right below) … nice job! You’re likely now within a desirable range for angle of approach with your driver (generally anywhere from 2–5 degrees moving UP into the ball for most amateurs is ideal, although many variables determine this), and your face contact, spin rates and ball speed are closer to being maximized for long, towering drives!
  19. I feel like my shot making is better solo. However, I tend to rush putting solo and fare better in a group.
  20. My Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X is perfect for a foursome and will still fit in the garage!
  21. Ohio is still open for golf as long as the course follows certain safety procedures. I played a course last weekend, Denison Golf Club, and there were no flag sticks. It forced me to aim at the center of the green. I played to my handicap and I'm convinced it's because I wasn't pin-seeking. I read an article that night that best thing that ameteur golfers could do is aim for the middle of the green!
  22. I'm in Ohio and thankfully golf is still allowed during the stay-at-home order. While I'm usually a speedy, see how many holes you can get in cart guy, I found a new appreciation for walking.
  23. No making fun, some things are relics: Driver: Ping G410 (my newest addition) Fairway Woods: 3-W is Adams Tight Lies 15*; hybrid is 4Hy Adams Idea Tech Irons: 4-PW is Callaway X-20 Tour Wedges: Gap Wedge is 52* Mizuno MP-T4; 56* is Cleveland 588; 60* is Nike (unsure of model) Putter: Scotty Newport 2 with newly installed Flat Cat grip
  24. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I've been playing golf for 25 years. I'm currently a 9.2 - which means I'm usually in the mid-80s. What do you love about golf? The never-ending pursuit of perfection. My wife labels it an addiction. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I love the authentic, unbiased reviews and testing. It feeds my addiction as the mot reliable source of information on golf products. I don't know any other spies, but look forward to connecting with them here. Where are you from? What is your home course? I grew up around South Bend, Indiana. I still love going back to play Blackthorn and Warren (Notre Dame's course). I've been living in Columbus, Ohio since 2002. Thanks to Jack, there are so many great courses here. Murfield has to be my favorite! What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best is the number of private and public courses. I think Ohio is top 3 in courses per captia. The bad - - the weather and not being able to play year round. I guess that's an excuse for golf trips. What do you do for a living? I'm the head of HR for a furniture company. How’d you pick your user name? It's the same one I use for most sites.
