  1. I have to go with laziness in the good weather months. Living near the tundra means the good weather months aren't all that long. I do practice putting in my basement. I too would rather play golf than just hit the range. My course is across the street from the 9th fairway, so it is hard not to just go play. Afterall, I have a season pass and it costs $10 for a small bucket at the range.
  2. Thanks to all for the good wishes. Really happy to be able to celebrate another one.
  3. The earlier the better for me. I love being the dew chaser. You can play at your own pace and will rarely have any one around you. I do play in a league, and they generally like to play mid-morning.
  4. I was once told by a wise man that "a lost golf ball wants to stay lost". I generally give away balls that I find by accident.
  5. We give 1 foot or less in my league. I sometimes have a very tough time with 2 foot putts.
  6. I am looking to get a wedge fitting and get three new wedges. My wife says I should get a new snowblower rather than wedges. I can't use the clubs for some time but the snowblower would be handy right now.
  7. My son was 7 but I had taken him to the range at 5-year-old. My Grandson was 5 when my son and I took him out this year. He did pretty good. Two things though my son had taken him to the range, and he has played ice hockey since he was three.
  8. I live in the tundra and hitting off grass 7-8 months out of the year is unheard of at a range. I don't particularly like hitting off mats as the ones here seem to melt on to my clubs. The indoor ranges are much better mats so I do use them when I can. The tips I have read here will really improve my thought on using mats.
  9. Jack Nicklaus once said always tee it up if allowed. He is a lot smarter and better golfer than me, so I listen to Jack. Everything on a tee if allowed. Even at the range.
  10. This is an unsolicited review of the Ask Echo Golf Bag I purchased this summer. I'm not very happy with the bag. First, I had to pressure the company to get it sent out to me. Ad stated you will receive the bag in 14 days, after 21 days I finally got someone to admit it was behind schedule. I received it a week later. The bag itself does not allow my head covers to stay on the club. The bag is too deep. When I was ordering the bag, I asked the customer service rep if it was tubed all the way to the bottom of the bag, so my grips don't hit each other. I was told that it is tubed. It is not tubed past the top layer of the bag. It is bigger around and does not fit my cart easily. I wanted to try the bag because it is notched so the irons don't clank together while walking. Now I will have to explain to my lovely wife why I need a new bag for next season. I will let you know how that goes.
  11. Walker have only ridden two rounds this year. Yes, pushcart a must. At our course it appears to be only the young guys that ride. We have an 80+ player who walks 18 holes 5 days a week hot or cold.
  12. I carry a PW, SW,60, & 65. Not sure why I carry the 65. It nis my wonder wedge, I wonder where it is going this time. I am in need of new wedge set so this topic is of real interest to me. I am most likely going to go to Sub70 and get fitted for the correct wedges.
  13. As I have mentioned before I am a gimmick buyer. My wife says to be rich just invent or improve something that you can convince the masses that it will save them strokes and it will be better than hitting the lotto. I own a Medicus Driver, 2 different weighted 7 irons to do something for me, a 65-degree wedge which great from 10 yards in, and 2 different putting trainers. Yes, I receive lots of these ads but so far have managed to control myself and not bought one. Don't know how they would help me.
  14. I found a plastic martini tee last year and have used it ever since. Now our tee boxes can get very hard, and I will then us a wooden tee. The plastic tee is quite flexible, so it seems to never break. I think that would be better for the environment than either plastic or wood on the tee box or preferably in the waste can.
  15. At 71 I walk 90% of my rounds. I do play a relatively flat course so that helps. While living in Geargia I played a course that didn't allow walking after a certain age. Extremely hilly course and quite busy. Amazingly when I do ride it is with my son. He doesn't walk.
  16. I do like music but not on the golf course. People play it so loud that I can't hear the guy two fairways over cussing up a blue streak. You miss too many great laughs.
  17. I have to agree with many posters on this thread, it is not the tee that creates slow play. It is the player that has to go through some kind of rigamaroll he was taught when he was a kid. Just go to your ball get the club in your hand and hit it. Thanks now walk up or ride and hit it again.
  18. I'm with JerryB never have done a firmware update and no problems I notice
  19. Plastic, I picked up a martini tee 2 years ago and still use it for all shots but short par 3s.
  20. I just received my Ask Echo bag. Have used it three times now, once in a riding cart and twice on my pushcart. It is longer and bigger around than a normal bag. I like the fact that it has slots for my clubs to sit in so they can't bang together. Other than that, the jury is still out on how well I really like it. It will not arrive in the time they say it will. 7-12 days turned into 24 days and only because I called and hounded them daily to get it shipped out. They kept saying the warehouse was busy and it will ship in this many days. Didn't say how many days.
  21. Many years ago, my father (whom never had an ace) told me that there are only three things that happen once in your life. You get a hole in one, you marry the right woman, and you pass away. Thank goodness I married the right woman.
  22. I've had my shot scope for a couple years now and really do like it. I have never tried Arcos so no real help there. The Shot Scope is easy to use, and you can use it to track shots or just for distance.
  23. First, I must admit I am somewhat of a gimmick guy, I have all kinds of training aids from weighted irons to Rimer, so I know where to place the ball in my stance. I have a 65 degree wedge I call my wonder club because I wonder where it is going this time. My current bag is a Maxfli, and I really do like the bag. But with that said my son told his mother that he needed me to buy a new bag so he could get my old one. Tell me you don't know how that works. I ordered an AskEcho bag. I have not received it yet but will keep you informed on my thoughts once I get it.
  24. What ever happened to looking for the sprinkler head for yardage or just plain being able to come close. I do have a shot scope watch and us it occasionally but really use it more to track my club yardage. I guess maybe I should get to at least be in the 20th century.
