I guess 'bogie juice' just sounds a lot less appetising.

I don't have a big problem with most of the advice here, but you really should update your own knowledge.  For almost four years we've had 24 Rules (soon to be 25).  Search for 3 minutes, not 5.

I've had several highly improbable chip-ins for par or birdie, but my oddest par was last week.
Tee shot sliced way right into the next fairway, leaving just over 200 yards to reach the green.  Trees run between the fairways so my best option is play up the fairway I'm on.  I know if I land it in the right general area it will at least roll towards the green I want.  I chose my line, nailed a 5 wood which, unusually, went where I wanted it to 'Ooh that looks good' I thought.  My ball was pin high on the green having rolled between trees and past a bunker.  Long putt and a tap in for par.

Perhaps you should do a little research yourself, go find the article you remember, that would certainly help the conversation.  Otherwise, this post seems to me to be a not-so-subtle attempt to smear Finch and Shiels.

Hmm.  If I found that put me off more than just a minor disorientation on arrival then I guess my 'mental game' would need a lot more work than it already does.

I have played a lot of 2 piece balls also, and there's nothing wrong with them for the most part. If you know how the ball is going to perform for you, and you account for that, there's no reason to stop playing what you like & you're used to.

So… did you make the purchase? What did you think?
I honestly can’t imagine hitting into a net without something (Mevo Rapsodo Garmin whatever) to give me feedback on lateral spin.  I don’t care how far I hit it (oh, I do…) what I care about is direction and how straight I hit it.

I use a Garmin S62 with tournament mode turned off if I want 'plays like' distances.
That said, I have absolutely no idea how accurate it is.  Nor would I know how to verify it anyway, and the same would be true regardless of what device I used.

Inesis Tour 900 (yellow) for me.
I used Kirklands for the last couple of years, can't fault the value, unbeatablefor the price.  But I just felt more a bit more consistent with the Inesis, and I can see the yellow ones better.

    Kirkland Sig V2s.
I'm not a good enough golfer to justify spending more than a dollar per ball and the fact that I don't care about losing a ball takes so much pressure off of me during my swing. Plus, the best part of my game is 115 yards and in, so I like having a bit more spinny of a ball that I can work and control.

Been screwing around with golf ball carving. Got a long way to go. Looking for comments.
The insides are original. I believe the white center is a BOMB ball (might be wrong), the pink center is inside a Callaway Warbird with a yellow "V" ... don't know exactly cuz I traded it for more balls to cut up. And last one is an AVX I made for our Pro "Rocket" to put on his desk ... he provided the personalized ball.

I recently upgraded to an S62 (from an S60).  I'm very happy with it, but the shot detection on the S62 seems less sensitive than the S60.
I did try the CT10s with the S60 for a while, but I don't recall it ever failing to detect a drive before I got them, yet I have had several with the 'raw' S62 since I got it  about a month ago.
Has anyone else noticed this?  Or is it just my 'ultra smooth' (pffftt🤣) drives not triggering it.

I bought a cheap laser ragefinder too.  More for range and practice ground use than on course (GPS guy here).  But I do lack confidence in it.
Anyway...  What wanted to say is try zapping the pin from the fairway distance markers.  It won't be 100% of course, but it should give you an indication as to it's general reliability.

Pandaman reacted to CarlH in Golf Ball Pick Up Devices?
To clarify my comment about damaging the hole....first, by all means, if you're physically disabled and can't bend over, yes use a device to help.  Anything that allows you to play is great.    How the hole gets damaged is because they are lazy, careless, or just don't care and they don't take the time to ensure that they are careful when retracting the ball and they typically put their putter grip in at an angle then pull it out at an angle (rather than straight up and down without the shaft touching the hole).  I've seen it happen time and time again and no matter how much I might chastise a playing partner, a few holes later they do it again.  For all of you that utilize such a device and take the time to ensure that you don't damage the sides of the hole -- kudos to you and my comment does not apply to you.

I have a GoGoGo Sport GS24, and, it works fine. I, also, use a Garmin G10, so, I have a bit of confirmation about distances.
As for gps vs range finder, gps works without line of sight. The rf can give you an exact distance, but, in general, I am not precise enough to make use of that information.

The components of the various clubs are assembled to optimize how you strike the ball.  If jumbo grips on your wedges give you the best performance then you should use jumbo grips.  Each component is somewhat personal so what works or doesn’t work for another person isn’t really important.  For you it seems to lesson grip pressure. For the above poster it helps keep the face more open. For others it may provide a more solid connection to the club or enable them to pay due to arthritis.

For the cost of a shot tracking system you could get several lessons with a pro, including a playing lesson or two.
That would be my call.  You can easily keep basic notes when you play to give you a guide to where you are losing shots (putts, chips and approaches too short or too long, fairways missed and where etc).

Pandaman got a reaction from cksurfdude in Suggestions against slow play
For starters, the optional local rule permitting dropping for a 2 shot penalty insted of stroke and distance could be adopted much more widely, for club comps and casual play at least.
Also, as much as slow play can be a  problem, one needs to have realistic expectations for what is acceptable.  Don't expect a sub 4 hour round on a busy Saturday.  If time is that tight for you, don't expect to finish, or play at a different time.

Wind & rain alone is hard enough to play in.  Then throw in a competition, it makes it ten times more slow.  I'm not sure there would be a solution during that type of play.  My suggestion would have been to reschedule the round on a better day.  Then if slow play continues, try & get the marshals out & threaten penalty strokes, & really enforce it BEFORE the round begins.  But it's very difficult to enforce.  So what really has to happen is .... you need to find a way to not let it bother you.  Slow play, especially in competitive rounds, is going to be common place.  Learn to take your mind off it.
