  1. I had a Zepp2 sensor around 2017 I think. You ended up playing golf swing rather than golf with it. I vividly remember topping a 3 wood about 100 yards on the driving range and Zepp giving the swing a score of 95/100. Next swing I hit a 4 iron onto the 200 yard marked green and Zepp gave it a score of 83/100. Sold it on eBay not much later.
  2. Another Shot Scope user here. Switched from Garmin to Shot Scope V3 2.5 years ago and do not regret it at all. Can be annoying having a separate watch just for golf but the stats Shot Scope provide are brilliant and there is no annual fee. It rarely misses a shot (usually user error when I've just chunked one 5 yards in a bunker etc), I don't even notice the tags and it takes about 5 minutes after a round to edit it and sign off. Usually have to adjust some putts as GPS just isn't accurate enough but I can remember the distance of most of my putts as I usually pace them out and know how far each step is. I have had to buy a new strap for the watch as the old one suddenly stopped capturing the tags (the receiver is in the strap) but compared to Arccos, £40 for a new strap in 2.5 years is much cheaper than the yearly £130 subscription fee.
  3. When in auto mode, you actually press the number for how many putts you had while at the pin, that is basically the pin collect button. I normally press the number just before I pick my ball out the hole. I've found auto putting really good, especially if you have a couple of practice strokes, even on the short one.
  4. There were no ah ha moments for me either, much like everyone else in the thread. I'll just repeat what others have said. Minimise penalties off the tee. Just keep the ball in play. Get better at 20-30 yard pitch shots as these will save shots when you just miss a green. I spent maybe an hour on the practice area hitting different lofted clubs to get a feel for how much each one runs out. Now when I miss a green, I'll pick a landing spot and based on that how much run out is needed and pick the club for that job. Play smarter, accept the punch back into play instead of the hero shot and play for your bogey. Play your shot shape on the day. Some days I've got the pulls going on, some I've got a draw, some a fade. Just accept your swing for that day and play it, don't try to fix it on the course. Since driver is usually my best club/most confidence hitting in the bag I don't subscribe to the iron/hybrid off the tee for safety, I hit driver every opportunity I get. I can just as easily hit a 4 iron 30 yards right compared to my driver and if I thin one off the tee the driver is still leaving me a reasonable shot into a green. Also, just hit shots you are comfortable with. I rarely hit my 3 wood off the deck into a par 5 as my course is pretty tight and there is a good chance bad things will happen. I'll hit a hybrid instead and play for that 30 yard pitch shot.
  5. My first thought when I read the review. It's just a software unlock, the hardware between them both is the same. Someone is going to make a decent amount of cash when they hack this to unlock all the features. $3K for the base option that provides nothing over a lot of the cheaper PLM seems like a complete rip off. Can't see SkyTrak being worried about either of these options tbh, it's 3.5x the price to have the fully unlocked version and it doesn't really provide $5K worth of data points.
  6. With that speed and being new to the game, I'd buy the cheapest balls possible as you are going to be losing them by the box. I'd wait until you are striking the ball more efficiently to even consider what is the correct ball.
  7. Oh, I totally understand. On the swing speed radar without a ball I can get my driver up to 118mph just going for broke and at the range I'm usually 108mph or 109mph when hitting balls with it. 3 wood is 104mph and 3 hybrid is 100mph on the radar when hitting balls. I'm the same as you, I'm obviously hitting the ball way further than I used to. Garmin Connect is now telling me I'm averaging 260 yards off the tee with my driver in my last 10 rounds, before SuperSpeed I think it was at 242 yards.
  8. I'm the opposite, my numbers transfer to the course almost too well. My red stick is usually around 112-115mph on any given night but on Trackman my driver speed was 104mph when I was swinging within myself and nearly 110mph when I was going flat out (and making terrible contact with the ball). Last night I could only get the green one up to 124mph and I felt like I was swinging out of my shoes. I'd have thought your driver swing speed should be at least 115mph with those numbers. I've read the whole Epic Flash driver thread now (I had an amazing session with one and wanted to see how others got on. Booked in again on Tuesday at a separate place to confirm the numbers) and I noticed our distances are roughly the same but with those superspeed readings you should be 20 yards past me.
  9. If you haven't hit the Flash, go do so. The same thing happened to me the other day when I finally went and tested this years drivers. I'm an avid YouTube watcher and I was under the impression that all drivers are basically equal after watching all the reviews and comparisons, there is nothing between them usually. Problem is, the guys doing the reviews are Pro's and their swings are very, very good. Us hackers and duffers have swings that work for one thing and not for another. I went to a local big box store (American Golf) and hit just about every newer driver out there. Before I went in I warmed up with a few swings of my SuperSpeed sticks to make sure my own driver got a fair crack of the whip. Started with my own driver, launching too high and spinning too much as expected. (2016 M1 10.5 lowered to 9 with Atmos Black stiff shaft). Dispersion was OK, all the misses to the right as I'm trying to play a fade. Hit the Flash Sub Zero at 9 with the Hzrdus Smoke 6.0. Bombed everything down the middle. 11 drives with the biggest miss being 5 yards left. The dispersion on screen was the size of a thimble compared to the M1. 15 yards of carry with even the 2 heel strikes being the same distance as my good ones with the M1. Tried the Rogue Sub Zero at 9 with the Even Flow Blue. Was all over the place, massive misses left and right. Changed to the Hzrdus Smoke and started hitting everything on line but was about 10 yards down on the Flash on good hits and nearly 17 yards on miss hits. I then tried the Ping G410 (not a fair test as they only had it in 10.5), M6 in 9 and Cobra F9 in 9 and nothing came close to that Flash. At the end I hit another 5 with the Flash just to check and I got the same results. It was at least 8 yards longer on carry to anything else and the dispersion was ridiculous. I'm now booked in next Tuesday to another shop (an actual Callaway fitting day at a range close to me) to rule out any nefarious going ons at AG as with each club the guy changed the colours and I don't know if he changed any other settings. For all I know he was maybe on a bonus to sell more Flash drivers. I now feel like a fool for not trying these out early as the season is just about over and I'm trying to resist the urge to buy a Flash Sub Zero even although it will likely go down in price when Callaway inevitably release a new club in a few months. So for me, all drivers where certainly not equal.
  10. Some serious speed you have there, guess I have something to aim for. Since I'm now fast approaching my mid forties, I doubt I can get that high, 145mph is ridiculously fast.
  11. As my post above stated I started Stage 2 last night. What masochist came up with those kneeling swings? Man, they were tough but they highlighted how little rotation my portly mid-section produces. Checking my spreadsheet, my last official workout was the 18th of July, so 47 days ago. My dominant side swings were down for each stick but not much (127 - 124) (121 - 117) and (114 - 112) but my non-dominant side was way up. The green one was 113mph, that's 7mph faster than the last time I did these. Time to get back to grinding out these workouts, lets see if I can get my driver swing up to 108mph with controlled swings and 114mph when going flat out.
  12. No, since I usually do the training late at night after I've got the wife and kids to bed. I started Stage 2 last night at around 9:30pm when it was pitch black and a little drizzle in the back garden. Footing was an issue I have used them before a round, but not a full protocol. I'll just swing each club a few times till I get a swing over 100mph (yes I do get the radar out as well) with each of them, just to make sure I'm loose for the first tee. I've done a full protocol workout the night before I played in a competition and it didn't work out well at all, it's like you fry you central nervous system as all my shots that morning were weak. Now, I make sure my last training session with them is Thursday night if I'm playing Saturday morning.
  13. Hi guys, I haven't done an update in a while simply because I haven't even started stage 2 yet. Life has gotten in the way and I've found it very difficult to find the time to do the protocols. To be honest my motivation has dropped down as well due to the excellent gains I got in the first 6 weeks. After getting frustrated with my game I went for a lesson with a local pro who has a Trackman so I could get all my club data (rather than the GC2 I was hitting on only giving me ball data). At the end of the lesson I mentioned that my spin rate for my driver was high so I hit a few balls to get feedback. Before starting SuperSpeed my driver was usually in the 96-98mph range with the odd one going over 100mph ( I think 102mph may have been the best I've seen). On Trackman my controlled driver swings were averaging 105mph and when the instructor asked me to go after a few my speed went up to 110mph. I hadn't done any protocols or maintenance in the 4 weeks before that lesson. SuperSpeed simply works and it seems like others just playing regularly keeps all your gains. I hit a 318 yard drive last week (wind assisted with a firm fairway) and early on Saturday morning at 12 degrees temperature with dew on the fairway I hit a 289 yard drive into a crosswind. I really should find the 20 minutes to do stage 2, I may try and get them started tonight to see if I can find another speed jump.
  14. Lengthy post incoming... OK, managed to get back to the exact same GC2 monitor that I hit on back in March. The results were both positive and negative. Ignore club names as I was just selecting anything on the screen at the time to give me difference colours, the GC2 guesses club head speed anyway so I was only interested in the ball data. Numbers from March when I had my driver set at 9.25 degrees in draw position with a TaylorMade Project(a) ball. My first hits where with the Project(a) ball again but I've got my driver at 10.5 degrees just now in Fade since I was trying to play a fade as I've been coming over the top lately. When not in Fade setting my misses have been big pulls left. Positive is the big 5mph increase in ball speed, not bad for 6 weeks! Negatives are the huge jump in spin that means I'm not gaining anything really and I'm off the planet right when I leave the face open. In true MyGolfSpy fashion I then switched to my current ball the Bridgestone Tour B X to see if that produced any more speed (it should going by the MyGolfSpy ball test). I hit 4 shots with the driver in the same setting before lowering it to 9.75 and switching to the Draw setting again. Ball speed up nearly 7mph now, I guess the ball testing was accurate as the Bridgestone has given me another 2mph. From these results it's obvious that a few things are happening... 1. I'm hitting down on the ball with my driver instead if hitting up. This is probably because I've been trying to steepen my backswing but I'm not shallowing out enough on the downswing. When I swing with a shallower backswing I have big pulls left with both irons and driver as a miss. This more upright backswing has helped my irons a lot but it may be hurting my driver. 2. If I keep swinging as I am just now I need to lower my current driver loft to 9 degrees but this is opening the face up even more. If I do that I'll need to make sure I get better club face control but I'm worried I won't be able to control it and start slicing massively. 3. Superspeed works, there is no doubt about it in my mind. Next step is probably to go get a lesson from a local pro who has a Trackman to see if I can retain this speed but adjust my angle of attack to hit up. If I can do that I should be seeing carries into the 260 range. If that fails, I guess it's time for a driver fitting as I think I would benefit from a 9 degree driver rather than the 10.5 one I have currently. Plus, it's a 2016 M1 driver I'm hitting, I need an excuse to replace it. tl;dr Superspeed works.
  15. Swing faster? I'm sure it will come when you are done with the kneeling swing. I'm going to start my kneeling ones on Monday.
  16. Oh, I'm more than happy with my driver and club speeds, they have definitely improved. This weekend I hit a 285 yard drive right down the middle according to my Garmin, the hole is a 465 yard par 4 and I hit a driver and 7 iron into it. I've never done that before. It was early as well (around 9am) and the fairways aren't rock hard, it must have carried around 265 I would think. Even miss-hits are carrying further. Near the end of the round I caught one right out the toe and sent it too far right, into the area I would normally not have the distance to carry unless I caught it flush. It carried the trees and landed in heavyish rough, so got no roll at all and my Garmin had it at 242 yards. I also caught one out the heel and it still went 250 yards including run out. I was just confused as to how my driver speed is nearly the same as my red stick speed. I'm not complaining though, I'm see the results out on the course. Definitely need to get back on the same GC2 this week as I was on in April to see the differences in actual numbers.
  17. Thanks for the welcome guys. I finally got to do another session today at the range during my lunch. Speeds where around my usually speed 126 for green, 120 for blue and I managed to get the red up to 115. I then decided to leave the swing speed radar out and hit some balls. I placed the radar slightly in front of the ball pointing backwards at a 45 degree angle. This was my first time attempting to hit balls with the radar. Now, I'm not sure I was doing this right but I started out with my 8 iron and the speed reading was 85 mph which is around what I would expect. I switched to my driver and I averaged 108 mph over 5 hits. The ball was carrying the small green which was 245 to the middle according to the distance chart in my bay so that looks legit and it wasn't measuring the ball speed. I then tried my 3 hybrid which was 99 and my 3 wood was 105 on average. I went back to my driver and again I averaged 109 over 8 swings. I'm now confused over my SS stick speeds as my green has only ever got to 129 as a max (I did have a 137 once which I discarded as a miss-read) and the red to 115. Things I've read says I should expect around 81% of the red speed but I'm getting close to 95% of that speed if I'm setting the radar up correctly. Maybe it's because I'm a fairly strong guy (can still deadlift 400lbs even when not training regularly), maybe it's just the way my body works or maybe I've not got the radar in the correct place for my SS swings? I set it up in the middle of my stance, pointing straight at me. I guess all will be revealed when I set up another GC2 session soon as if this is correct I should see a decent jump in ball speed off my driver.
  18. Hi guys, new user here and another that has started the Superspeed system. I did a decent bit of investigation on it before deciding to give it a go and have read most of this thread now. Before starting my driver SS was usually around 97-99 mph on a monitor with the odd 1 or 2 reaching 101 mph. My ball speed on a GC2 was around 148 mph. I've been doing the training for 1 month now and I've definitely reached a plateau stage on my dominant side as expected but my weak side is still going up. I will probably get back onto the same GC2 monitor next week to see if there has been any increase in ball speed. Current training looks like... I've been busy the last week and haven't managed to do any training, so it will be interesting to see what happens tonight. On the course I have definitely started to see a difference, especially over the last 2 weeks not only with my driver but my irons as well. It may be the Superspeed system starting to kick in but we've also had decent temperatures the last couple of Saturdays here in the UK that will have helped a little as well. I'll stick with the beginner protocol this week before moving onto Stage 1 next week. I really need to start doing the dynamic warm-ups, since a lot of the time I'm rushed my warm-up usually just consists of swing each club gently on both sides (maybe 5 each side) then I take each club and swing them until all reach over 100mph. Usually only takes about 2 minutes in total.
