  1. Here is a short list of my favorites Erado - Before you tee off your group decides how many holes will be counted. Hole 18 must be counted. During play if you score a big number you may deem that hole to be Omitted, the catch is you must make this announcement before teeing off on the next hole. Vegas golf - this game can be bought at Amazon or if you are froogle you can make your own. "Each player begins the round with no chips. The first player that hits a shot that corresponds to the designation on the chip is given that chip. He/she holds on to that chip until someone else hits the same shot. For Example, if player number 1 goes into the sand he/she will hold that chip until another player goes into the sand. He/she then gives the chip to that player. The same holds true for the positive chips. The last one to get a one putt or a birdie is the one that gets that chip. At the beginning of the round, each chip is given a designated dollar value. At the end of the round those players holding the negative chips will pay to each player the designated amount for each chip he or she is holding. Those holding the positive chips will receive the same amount from each of the other players. " - Vegas Golf Game.
  2. Broke 70 please also, how do you get the Donor badge, besides being a donor (which I am)?
  3. My experience is the Ping Color Code chart is a great place to start, but not the end all. You should hit off a lie board and see where you are stinking the sole. I am 6'1 and the Ping Chart says I should be 2° upright, but my hands are low at impact which make me need 2° flat. Go to your fitter and hit real balls off the lie board, you will be very pleased afterwards.
  4. I was in the business for 8 years and I got my start by going through a Professional Golf Management Program and then into the PGA. I would think the best way to go about it is to first look into a PGM program. I am not sure if you desire to go back to school, but there are online programs available. These programs will prepare you for the business and will set you apart from others. Check them out and good luck!!!
  5. Take your current driver with you to the fitting. Hit it along with the new Drivers on the market and compare the numbers. This will give you the answer you are looking for.
  6. What I loved most about Oakmont was that it blended with the natural terrain. It really looks like it had always been there. Plus the history lesson my caddie gave me as we walked the course was fantastic.
  7. I would say my top 3 are... 1) Oakmont CC - Let's face it "Its OAKMONT"!!! I remember walking off the course and saying "If you think you are a Player, you should play here....it will humble you". 2) Tobacco Road, Sanford NC - Stunning views and some of the wildest designed holes out there. 3) Brays Island Plantation, Sheldon SC - This place is what the Low Country of SC is all about.
  8. I have tried everything in the book, except getting professionally fitted. I have a putter (Odyssey O works 1w) that I put good with, but not great. It keeps coming back to the bag after I go out trying something else. I know that it is not the perfect putter for me and I am obsessed with the hunt for the perfect putter. With that being said I truly feel that if I was to bite the bullet and get fitted then the hunt would be over. I love everything in my bag except the putter, so one could say that the reason I haven't gone to get fitted is because just as all golfers I like to experiment with all the shiny new toys out there. LOL!!!
  9. I agree with all of the above statements and would add to be patient. A lot can happen in 18 holes, so don't rush or force anything.....oh and don't forget to breathe!
  10. I have always heard it was best to get the ball on the ground as soon as possible. Sure putting through the fringe is dicey at times, but I believe the variables are less when putting than chipping. Also, I see a lot of people using the wrong club when chipping. The 56* up to the 60* are sexy to chip with but are not the best options unless you have no other choice. My dad and his friends will wear us out with 6 and 7 irons around the greens. So awesome to watch and the stress level for them is nothing.
  11. I have always used it through the app. I know that you can setup games on their website and it will transfer to the app. So give it a try. I think you will like it.
  12. Golf Game Book My buddies and I use it all the time, especially on our annual trip. The app does the following.... * Live Scoring * Multiple Games * Side Bets * Stats * and more. All free or if you want a little more there is a premium version. I have used it for the past 3-4 years and never saw a need for the upgrade.
  13. I play and love the Tour Edge CBX Ironwoods. They don't look as bulk and offset like most of the Driving irons out there. I started with the 3 iron for tee shots only, but after hitting a few shots from the fairway I found that it was a better play than my stock 3 iron. I then went out and bought the 4 iron to replace my stock 4 iron. They both have the Project X HZD Smoke shaft in them and I couldn't be happier with their performance. I have had some of my higher handicap friends try them and they were shocked at how easy they were to hit. They definitely improved my game.
  14. Ping i200's or i210's either would be a great pick up. I have played both and I currently game the i210's, which I love. The i210's have a little more compact look to them and feel softer to me. I have had friends hit them and ask if they are forged. I know hard to believe a cast iron can feel like a forged iron, but they do!!. Very forgiving and are true to standard lofts, which is another reason I like them. Give them a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
  15. We go on an annual trip with about 12 guys. We play a round robin 2-man teams. Our trophy is these belt buckles that must be worn the next year by the the winners. If they are seen without them on they have to buy the next round of beers.
  16. Didn't mean to hit a nerve....but to answer your question I put it in the cart, on my golf bag or I carry it in my hand and lay it down to hit my shot.
  17. I will agree with all that has been mentioned and would like to add.....don't hang a towel out of your back pocket. I can't tell if you are playing golf or getting ready to wash the golf cart.
  18. As far as comparisons go I have played a Callaway XR16 Pro for the last 3.5 years and I love it. However, I had a chance to get an Epic Flash Sub-Zero for a great deal here recently. So I went out to compare them, same day, same shaft, same ball and same swing (or as consistent as one can repeat their swing). After all the hype of the Epic Flash I was surprised that the XR16 out shined it in every aspect. It was longer, straighter and sounded better in my opinion. So what does this mean, for me it makes me think that Driver Technology hasn't really improved as much as we would think in the last 4 years. However, I must admit that the biggest take away is that the shaft and head combination is HUGE!!!! I am sure that if I found another shaft that fits me and the EP Flash, that I would see better results from the EP Flash, maybe not better than the XR16 but improved from my current shaft with that head. I know that it will take something very impressive to get the XR16 Pro out of my bag.
  19. I have been experimenting with different brands lately and decided to give Snell MTB-X a try. I have tried all the usual suspects and then the Vice balls, but never Snell. So my first take was the Snell looked out of the box right up there with Titleist, Callaway and Taylor Made. On the course the Snell was noticeably LONGER off the Tee, I gained at least 5 - 8 yds on avg. over the Prov1X that has always been the longer performing ball for me. The Snell also held up for several rounds where the Vice was a 1 round and done at best. I have played 8 rounds with the Snell and have decided its not the ball for me, but I did pass it along to my father who needs distance help rather than spin performance. He loves it, his swing speed is around 85 mph and he has seen a gain in yds off the tee and a little help with irons as well. My thoughts are purely based my play on the course as I do not have access to a simulator, but I would say that the Snell is by far a better golf ball than the Vice.
  20. I have read through all of the comments and I agree with most of them, but I have one question that hasn't been asked. When you tried the different driver heads were the shafts different as well. If you are producing 155 -160 mph ball speed then I would guess that your swing speed is 100+. You also say you have to swing at 50% to keep it in play, which is also a sign that the shaft might not be strong enough for you. My club head speed is around 117 and until I went to a X Flex I could just let it go, I had to baby the swing in order for it not to go left. What shaft was in your old driver? I may have some that disagree with me, but the head of the driver is all about what the player likes to look at, the shaft is the engine. So if you like looking down at the Mizuno head...then try a different shaft. I hope this helps.
  21. Thank you to all that have replied. I have only played 4 - 5 rounds with the new sticks and 3 range sessions with them as well, so they are very new to me. I will take a look at the alignment as many of you have recommended. After hearing these thoughts it may just be that I have always lined up right to allow for the hook miss. It may take me time to re-learn what dead aim looks like over the ball. Again thanks for your opinions and advice it has really made me feel a little better about this. Just need to put some work in.
  22. Thanks THEZIPR23 for you reply Yes, it was a 15g increase in weight. I just wonder should I work through it knowing that I have eliminate what I feared the most when under pressure or try another shaft? Thanks THEZIPR23 for you reply
  23. I just recently got fitted for irons and the main reason was to eliminate the left side miss. I was playing standard clubs (Ping iblades) and my miss was a 10-15 yard hook. The fitter said the first reason for the hook was the shaft I was playing (Project X 5.5), my 7 iron swing speed is in the upper 90's. He also suggest that I go +0.5" due to me being 6'1" and adjust the lie to 2° flat to help with the miss left. So, with that information out there, I was fitted into the Wilson Staff Staff Model irons with Dynamic Gold X100's. What's the problem you ask? Now I miss right....and I mean right! I can still draw the ball, but it takes a lot more effort than it should. I would be happy with a little fall to the right, but starting right and going right (10 yds) is not what I want. So fellow Spies...Is it me or the fitting?
