  1. I really love the Accra iS 7 shafts in my irons. They time up very well for me and the feel is incredible.
  2. Well this makes lots of sense. I know that I can make most truly straight putts. How many of those do I see in a round? Only the ones where I miss the break low and have straight back up the slope. So much of putting is matching line and speed. I like die in or capture speed for my putts because I know if I leave my putts inside 3 feet I will make most second putts. Living in the Greater Washington DC area the courses here tend to have very nice greens with challenging breaks and speeds or I won't play them. We have so many great options. Practicing with the same putter and routine is the biggest help for me now. That said I have a custom build putter made just for me too.
  3. Next time I donate I will pay attention to the confirmation number. I never did in the past and don't know how I would find it now. Thanks.
  4. I have donated a few times over the years and never have had the banner. I am not complaining and you said to tell you.
  5. KZG irons are some of the greatest forged irons out there. I still play mine that I bought in the ninetys. I had them reshafted and refurbished and they are back in my bag again. I tried to get a new set but they are nearly impossible to get in the US.
  6. I have worked in and out of the golf industry for years. I have been a starter, marshal, club fitter, food and beverage manager and General manager. I agree when you work full time in the golf industry you don't find much time to play. I have found a job working one day a week as the counter person and over seeing the food and beverage operations for the pub not the events. I am allowed to play whenever I want on weekdays and after 12 on weekends unless I fit in as a walk on without a set time. The industry is work like any other job field and is fun if you work in a good team and environment. Working for an owner that is barely making ends meet is hard. Working in an operation that has money and an open mind is great. I have worked in the military and restaurant business as an owner for many years. The leader sets the pace in all businesses.
  7. To be clear I have a custom putter fitted and made for me. I have had it for over 20 years. It is never leaving my bag! I paid $150 for it. I would pay up to about $1,000 to get a putter built just to fit me. To answer the question. I have tried to replace it over the years with something that people would admire. My arrogance got in the way of my play. I won a Scotty Circle T, for a closest to the hole in a big money charity outing. It was not set up for my game and didn't work as well as my custom! Sold it for over $2500 I went through a putting slump and bought a Bettinardi SS9 Hexperimental from a friend for $500 and sold it for just over $1000. When the Evnroll ER2 won the best putter from MGS I got one. All of those putters felt amazing and looked great, everyone admired them! None of them were as good for me and my putting, as the custom putter made for me. The best thing I did was realize that the putter that was made to the weight, lie, loft, length, balance and grip I need may look plain and simple but I putt the lights out with it! With age I have learned That My game is where my pride comes from not the equipment I can put in my bag! I can afford to bag 5 star Honma clubs covered in gold. So what! They don't make me a better golfer. I will play what gives me the best chance to score! You will find nothing in my bag for popularity.
  8. I play golf for fun! Every round is practice for those rounds I play for money. Each year around this time I go out and play with intent for tracking and figuring out my yardages for the new year. I use the entire card for this. In the top corner of the score bax I indicate the club I teed off with ie a d in the corner. When I shoot the yardage for the next shot I finish the box this the yards left to the flag. I then mark the club I will hit in the box below. If I mis the green or hit it I mark the next shot distance from the hole. I note SL for short left lr for long right and so on. The box below has club on the green would be P off the green would give wedge loft, on green distance is in feet off is in yards. Mishits I make a small dot in a corner of the box. Side hill lie I mark a diagonal hash mark in the corner. Chocked down or knock I make a dot on the left edge of the box. The score I mark in the bottom row - for par 1 for bogie and a circled 1 for birdie. Doing this enables me to figure out the distance range for each club. I also do this if I am struggling to score. My warm ups mostly entail hitting lots of chips and putts before the round. I use three balls and hit my lob wedge from the same area to the same flag Stock then High then low. I then go putt the results like I am in a round. I hit long 50 yards and short wedges green side. Just going to the range and hitting balls almost never happens and by choice. I would rather go play 9.
  9. I also had Irons I loved for 20 years. I just sent them to theironfactory.com now they are back in my bag and the love affair is back on. Way more cost effective than the two set of irons I have tried in the intervening years. They came back like new.
  10. My best golf purchases: 1. KZG Forged III irons (refinished and regrooved this year) 2. Positive Putter P2 (custom built for me, I have 2) 3. Cleveland CG12 DSG RTX wedges in 54/10 & 58/10 4. Taylormade MD 4 Tiger grind 56/12 bent to 54/10 & 58/14 5. Garmin Approach Z80 My worst golf purchases: 1. All the putters I ever owned that I was not fitted to. 2. The first Cobra driver to win MGS highest rating (early years when you had 5 testers and rated them) I don't even remember its name it was straight but very short) 3. Taylormade SLDR 4. Birdieballs putting mat (just to big to use in my house) 5. 20 or so random clubs I didn't get fit for!!!
  11. That may be the case. The ball I have came from Dick's and doesn't have that alinement aid.
  12. I also bought them hoping for your results in my game I would love to get balls for 35% less and keep the results I am used to.
  13. The Maxfli Tour ball is what I was using. I did not hit it on any cart paths or trees, the scuffs came from my MD4 wedge. I like to fly the ball close to the hole with spin around the greens more than pitch and roll. I also have brand new wedges with fresh grooves and faces. I didn't find the ball to spin to a stop the way the Callaway Chrome Tour Srixon Z star or Titleist Pro V1x do for me. I am glad you enjoy the ball and that it responds for you the way you need it to. No ball is good for everyone's game.
