  1. Welcome!! I'm up in Santa Clarita - let's try to find a time to get a group together to tee it up!
  2. Loved playing with you and your dad, but THRILLED you're here! Poke around - so many incredible members with literally nothing else to do than respond Welcome, buddy!!
  3. Oh man - my baseball-playing-self (I mean, when I was in middle/high school, that is, lol) wants SO badly to go to a baseball grip, but I have tried and it feels CRAZY to me I know that the handle-down-the-fingers grip is "correct" - @RickyBobby_PR - I hear that, and am striving to have one grip. That being said, watching the ball literally go from one fairway, turn left, and then end up in the left rough of the fairway running the opposite direction is less than ideal. Obviously there's SOMETHING I'm doing that's promoting that ball snapping to the left, but without a slow-mo/down-the-line multi-cam setup (or a dedicated coach), deciphering the "what" is a bit cumbersome at the moment. It honestly only seems to be happening (that left hook) with these new FW's - and really, it's the 5-wood in particular. My irons continue to be pretty excellent (for me, anyway - I won't be insisting my iron game be thrust upon anyone else, lol), and I've been able to institute the more "correct" grip with no issue - if anything it's improved my strike and ball flight. I just thought it was an odd thing to see that flight out of nowhere, and to see it limited with a weaker (or, at least, "less than ideal") grip. Especially as my BIG miss (at least with driver) is always a slice off to the right. Appreciate the feedback, though, from both of you guys!
  4. Went to the range yesterday, and after Thursday's community call, I was inspired and spent most of the time working on Driver, 3/5 wood. Something kind of clicked, and curious if any of you have had a similar issue. So with driver, I've been trying out a grip more in the fingers (left hand), then folding over hand so I can see three knuckles on top. Peter Finch (and others) talk about this grip being a successful grip especially to help avoid slices. https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx4o3qwVcPRBk854lV-poEzwpOdDbOdONX?si=RVnk5G0VVPz1ylnp (15 second clip of him explaining his grip) I'm having some success so far - early days, but I seem to be able to bring the back of my hand through the ball a lot better, and my "good" shots are great, while my "bad" shots are significantly less bad. However, if I use this grip with either of the fairways, I see a snap hook to the left. It's crazy. What I discovered today was a much more neutral (or even weaker) grip allowed me to get through the ball with incredible results. High, beautiful shots with distance. Like, 3-wood flew as far as a lot of my drives. Both of the fairways are the Max model, and there's some offset, but I'm guessing that there's something about the way they're built that promotes a right-to-left flight that's being exacerbated by that strong grip.I honestly don't care if I have to change grip for a few clubs in the bag - results matter, not grip.Just curious if anyone's ever seen anything like this? it's just something I've never really pondered - having more than one grip for multiple clubs. I've always been a "this is my grip and I use it for every club" kind of golfer, but that may be changing (and for potentially good and obvious reasons). Let me know what you think!
  5. Walkabout is absolutely my go-to as far as easy, fun, family-friendly things to do on the Oculus. My wife, in particular, LOVES it - it's one of the only things golf-related that she actively wants to participate in, lol. Excited for you to check out the Golf+ whenever you get it. I keep meaning to carve out some time after the kids go to bed to play another round, but I'm often just, you know...tired. lol. Stupid middle-age...
  6. Some great advice already. My improvement came at what felt like a snail's pace - but now looking back at it, it was pretty fast. Two years ago I had never broken 90, and I put that on a list of goals I had for the year. Every Friday (my day off and golfing day (along with any/all other chores/shopping I have to do)), I would make sure I was either playing or practicing, sometimes both. I took a series of lessons that REALLY helped. I started looking at my stats analytically and tried to find areas I could take one or two strokes off every round. For me, consistent iron play and getting better around the green were the two huge ones. I spent a LONG time putting, chipping, pitching, etc. My goal was, when chipping/pitching, to get down in two. It's hard. You don't do it often. But I started getting incrementally more confident in my chipping. And then in my putting. So that was my plan of attack. I shot an 88 about 8 months into 2022. Once that dam was broken, I kept doing it. Not EVERY time, but often. 2023 (late 2023, mind you), I shot a 78, and the next week shot 75. I haven't broken 80 since. Lol, but now I know(!) I can. So much of this game is confidence. Look at your game and pick an area you think you could be better at. Then practice the hell out of that. I found that it often leads to improvements elsewhere. And then come back here and let us know what you're working on - there are SO many smart people on here who LOVE to help! Just my (slightly more than) $0.02 -Matt
  7. Final review is posted, friends! Check it out! https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/62311-argolf-putter-and-wedge-reviews/?do=findComment&comment=997599
  8. @CB Lobo 4 Life - This is unacceptable. By official decree of the Totally Not Made Up Just Now MGS Forum Ordinance Number 124(3 sir)3!, we demand you post macro photographs of the clubs in exquisite detail and glory. Annnnnd go.
  9. @GolfSpy AFG That settles it. I know what I'm bringing you.
  10. WAIT! You're not buying a DF3? muahahahahaha! Now you can buy it for ME!!!! lol. I'm an idiot. It's my defining trait
  11. Yes! Those are spectacular. I have these coming in either this week or next for my as-yet-to-be-determined next iron, lol, along with (potentially) the white Star-Grip tour 360 wrap. I think that could be just an epically good-looking set. Which, when combined, would look SOMETHING like this:
  12. It actually already looks suspiciously like the back of that thing anyway...
  13. I will agree with this assessment 100%. My local club had cored and sanded, and I was laughing with my friends about how much it made me look like a chipping genius, as the ball would just literally stop within 2-3 feet of wherever it landed. I actually holed out multiple shots, as well, as I could just throw it to the pin and trust that, at worst, I'd be inside 5'. Sadly, the next week, the sand had mostly been absorbed into the ground, and I no longer looked like a genius. Shock, I know. But it WAS very helpful to know this little "trick", since I only get to play once a week and am at the whims of the groundskeepers if they need to core/sand that week.
  14. I've read that book, years ago when I was REALLY struggling with my putting. It (and the many ideas contained inside) really helped free me up to see putting as more than just the technical mumbo-jumbo and/or "line it up and hit it" and realize there is a lot of natural instinct we've been trained (or learned, one way or another) to ignore. It's a great read.
  15. I have a few suggestions. Take them for what they're worth. With this particular model, you'll want to try to hit the ball where the arrow is pointing. It's a novel concept, but could be the solution to your issue (I didn't read very closely, but it sounds like you're missing the hole a lot. This could help.). If you don't love the look of this one (and I get it, it's not everyone's cup of tea), you could always give this a shot: Don't be fooled - they LOOK similar, but they're completely different. This one's orange. And has a lot more lines. See? Totally different. Also an option: This one's really good when you want to use it after the round to club anyone who talked smack about your game. The blood just blends right in. And no sight lines to smear! Double-win! In all seriouslyness (that's for those of you who like typos ), I'm a huge believer in confidence putting. If you're confident in what you're looking down at, it can make a world of difference. I'm also a HUGE believer in (and it was mentioned by you above) the idea of spending most of your time looking at the hole and feeling the speed, then I give a quick look to make sure I'm still aligned behind the ball, looking back at the hole one more time, and then away we go. I've found some incredible success this way - not 100% "looking at hole while putting" style, but allowing my lizard brain to do the work of gauging speed and letting my body do the rest. As usual, excited to see what you decide on!
  16. I'm just consistently amazed at the quality of their work. That thing is seriously good-looking. I've got my buddy's demo 6-iron coming in on Sat/Sun, and cannot WAIT to see it in person. I'm also going to have him hit the demo TS3 I built up last year (with the Score tipped to R+) just to see if he prefers one over the other. Having just been fit into the P790s, I'm guessing he'll opt for the TS1, but you never know. And for about $120-130 (depending on shaft option, obvs), the price-to-value proposition is absurd.
  17. If you get a date, let me know, I'll see if I can join to film/photo some stuff so you can focus on the fit.
  18. Absolutely love having you on the team - really can't say enough about how much you've stepped up and continue to do so much for the forum, especially behind the scenes. That being said - let's really take a look and see if we can't help you cure your left-itus. It's genuinely troubling to see that ball flight be the exact opposite of what it should be. It may take the rest of your life, but ... it's worth it. I'm here for you.* *as long as you start hitting righty.
  19. Jason, just remember to not ONLY wear the chaps. Please.
  20. I've got a gently-used Lagshot 7i in my garage (along with an unused PW) if you're interested. Make me an offer - big fan of their clubs - their driver has helped me a bunch in finding my rhythm.
  21. Plus, that bag tag (that's currently on its way to you) hanging from it will be
  22. I've played Pinehurst and Pebble at least 10x each, and it's breathtaking every time. I find the grip-attachment to be... Not necessary to enhance my enjoyment. There's something about it that messes with my head, and I ended up thinking about it more than the shot/course. I would consider the add-on courses a must - I believe a few of them come in bundles for a small discount. Also, when you get it, let's play a round!!
  23. I could be wrong, but I'm 99% sure Britt is a man, just FYI
  24. Just arrived!! Already a little in love. LOVE the dark blue top, headcovers are classy. Really excited to get these out tomorrow!
