  1. Date 03/01/2024 Course Name Antelope Valley Country Club Gross Score 82 Course Handicap 7 Gross Strokes over/under par 10 Net Score to Par 3 Net Score 75 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 287 SIM Round? Alright, Soo.... Played holes 4-12 at even par (7 pars, one birdie, one bogey). Played the last six holes in +7. Lol. It was CRAZY windy on the back, and most holes coming in were directly into a 2-3 club wind (hit 7 iron on the 145-yard par 3 - normally a stock 9 iron) and it STILL came up short. But what I really noticed about the round is that I get really, genuinely tired after about 13/14 holes when I walk. I played the first 11 holes solo, and made it in 2 hours, and then caught up to a foursome ahead of me, and another single (in a cart) caught up to me while I was waiting at 12 tee. But by the time we got to 14, my legs were just...beat. Hard to swing with no leg-strength, and I started get out of rhythm, etc. Going to be adding a few neighborhood walks over the next few weeks to see how/if that helps. Best shot today, by far, was a 120 yard 48° that I had to flight down and let skip up between two bunkers: lipped out and left me with a (literal) kick-in birdie. (Keep it under the limbs, let it skip on up... Birdie, baby!) 2nd best was a 25' putt for par that I got on (low-res) video. See below to see my beardless face lose its mind over sinking it.
  2. You've once again quoted the wrong person, which is right on brand for your kind of tomfoolery I'm the one who's flying in on the redeye Wednesday night into Thursday, with a layover in Philly. And I don't sleep on planes (not by choice, mind you - my body just decides to boycott the sleep option when flying in a tin can hurtling through space), so I'm bound to be VERY fresh. I'll be sure to cart with you so you can get a good whiff
  3. It's a good thing I'm flying in on Thursday and going immediately to the tee box at RNK so I can REALLY feel prepared for this Round of Death... Lol. At least you'll all get a sense of just how bad I can really be - that way the rest of the weekend will be an improvement
  4. Leaky! Great work, and really enlightening stuff - man I wish I had your speed! I'm a fan of PXG as a company - currently gaming their Gen 5 XF driver, and went to a fitting this past January for all the new stuff - the Black Ops is a HUGE sound-improvement over the Gen 5, but it was too low-spin for me, but their irons ... hoo boy I loved those things. Great job, and can't wait to see what else you've got in store for us!
  5. Pinned golf is having a fairly ridiculous "1-minute Sale" at exactly 4pm EST / 1pm PST, where everything they sell is 50% off. So, this rangefinder/speaker bundle that is normally $300 will be $150: https://pinnedgolf.com/products/tech-stack?variant=43567520153853 The rangefinder on its own, normally $240, will be $120: https://pinnedgolf.com/products/the-prism?variant=42686417371389 While they may not be the best-reviewed rangefinders out there, they'll be better than nothing, and hard to beat at that price (IMHO). Their own recommendation is go build your cart now and enter shipping info so that you're ready to hit "buy" at exactly 4pm EST. Pretty neat little sale.
  6. Congrats! Shooting your age - that's AMAZING! I've done it on many, many front/back 9's. Many.
  7. Something that happened a few weeks back, that I'd never experienced before, and I hated it and was completely perplexed by it. So, I like to walk when I play - I find that using my push-cart, and walking the course gives me a) some much-needed exercise (desk job is killer to my "step count" goals), b) a chance to reflect on my last shot, whether good or bad, and therefore a little more time to prepare for my next shot, and c) some space to be by myself in a place that I love. I'm not against carts at all - sometimes they're awesome, and if playing with buddies or on a trip, I'm almost exclusively in a cart. All that being said, I was playing with three other people I didn't know - two of them were a twosome in a cart, buddies for a long time, and the 3rd was another solo guy who was also walking. That third guy was one of the most anti-social people I've ever met. Now, don't get me wrong: I have ZERO problem with someone not being "chatty" - hell, I talk enough for 3 people, so no problem there. But this guy would hit his putt, pick it up (regardless of how close / far from the hole it was), walk to his bag, and walk to the next tee - all while the rest of us were still lining up our (usually) first putts. 40-50% of the time, he would go ahead and hit his tee shot and then start walking - again, all before we'd even finished on the green. Keep in mind, the group in front of us was NOT playing fast, nor were we playing slow. He was constantly right on the next group's butt. At one point, one of the other guys I was playing with, while at the tee watching the 3rd guy walk down the cart path, suggested he just go ahead (literally yelling "go ahead!", and then, quieter, "we don't want you"), but he just stood 200 yards down the fairway, waving us up. It's the most aggravated I've maybe ever been on a golf course - I felt like I was constantly being passive-aggressively hurried up, even though he never said a thing and there was nowhere for him to go. Anyway - he ended up leaving after 16 (shock), and it was much more pleasant without him. Also - no, he was not excellent. He was probably a 7 or 8 handicap - so it wasn't like he was birdieing everything and annoyed at being paired up with a bunch of hacks. Alright: rant over. If you or someone you know plays like this, reach out to a doctor and see if a ChillPill is right for you.
  8. Absolutely LOVE this. Appreciate the point of view - some of my best conversations have come from "long" rounds, just hanging around the tee box, laughing, bullsh*tting, etc.
  9. That's your pet-peeve? You'd rather they look like me? (Trust me, buddy - I wouldn't wish that on anybody.)
  10. You need to be playing this ball, methinks.
  11. As I *think* has been discussed here before (granted, we're 10 pages in, so no wonder it may have gotten lost), the trip organization is currently only open to stay-and-play until the middle of April. At that point, we can check and see if we can reserve any 'golf only' tee times. Hope that makes sense!
  12. Lol - yeah, the technical stuff starts to get VERY technical, at least for someone like me. It's been really helpful that they measure OTHER clubs in their MPF findings, as I've played several of the clubs listed, and know how they performed for me, so it's useful information. It's one of the reasons why I demo'd the TS3's last year, was to see if a forged club might give me the feel and performance I was looking for coming from a GI club, considering my Sim Max irons were pretty much the same MPF (834 TM vs. 849 TS3). I'd never heard of a forged ANYTHING being similar to hit. The only thing at the time that gave me pause in building out the whole set was a) cost (I'd built the demos with the Score TT shaft, which doesn't suit me great, so an upgraded shaft would bump the cost of the build significantly), b) I didn't LOVE the look of the TS3 (sleek, for sure, but the topline wasn't actually that much slimmer than the TM's, and I wasn't 100% sold on the progressive design of the backs) - especially compared to something like the TS1/TS4, and c) I ended up testing the Caley 01T irons, which are a hollow-bodied (definitely not filled with anything, as we've since come to find out) with a thinner topline - similar to the TS1's. As mentioned above, I was pretty surprised with how well a smaller profile (especially the narrower sole) fit my swing, and I've grown to really love looking down at the Caleys. So now I'm pondering, should I decide to ditch the Caleys (if / when I come into 'new club money' ) if I'd be better off with the TS1s or TS4s OR the TE+'s. Stupid company making so many good clubs...sigh. I really love the idea of a set of TE+ (save a little on the heads) with the shaft of my choice (either MPH Elevate or, future proofing even more, SteelFiber 95s)... Those would look very, very sharp in a bag, and would satisfy my want for a narrow top-line, as well as my need for super playability. It helps to put it all down into words so I can feel like I'm inching towards a decision, lol
  13. Welcome! Great to have you around! Those Apex Pros are GREAT looking - love it!
  14. We had an issue with the BST and have a ticket in to resolve the issue with our developer - you're not crazy! I mean, at least not about this particular thing - I can't speak for the rest of your mental health
  15. Morning all! Had a great day yesterday - golf at my local executive course where I finally put together a round I was mostly pleased with, then grocery shopping/errands, then movie night with the fam. Always love Fridays. This morning I woke up inspired and whipped up some brioche french toast that the kids (and wife) devoured, so feeling pretty pleased with myself, lol. Taking the kids to a play this afternoon, and then finishing up an article for the main site, so busy day ahead of me! Happy Saturday, all!
  16. Date 02/24/2024 Course Name Vista Valencia Golf Course Gross Score 71 Course Handicap 8 Gross Strokes over/under par 10 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 63 Net Birdies or better 2 Longest Drive 240 SIM Round? Return to form!! I know it's still a plus-10, but lipped out a birdie (cruelty), and missed another four by a combined 6", so it's one of those rounds where I played consistently and gave myself opportunities. Played the new Chrome Tour X (front nine) and the Chrome Tour (back nine). Kind of stunned by how good they feel, especially the X, since I prefer a softer feel but need a spinnier ball. Also, that triple-track is legit - I know it's not for everyone, but man...I loved putting with it. Made lining up putts just THAT much easier, and setting up to it even easier. (Land and small release, downhill par three - this was the lip-out birdie putt) (Slightly left) (Slightly right) (Spot on)
  17. Also super interested to hear any feedback on these - price is SO tempting.
  18. Morning all Happy CC Thursday (patent pending). I've got Mexico Open coverage up on PGAtour.com, I've got Run Your Pool up as well, trying to gauge how much I'm going to lose by if Cam Champ keeps going crazy like he is (-6 through 9, including a bogey on his 1st...good god, man, SLOW DOWN FOR THE REST OF THE FIELD TO CATCH YOU). Apparently @GolfSpy_BEN is tempting fate by suggesting I might say something outrageous, so let's just get it out of the way now. A chickpea is neither a chick nor a pea. Discuss.
  19. Most of the staff now game a L.A.B. - he's doing his best to stand up to our peer pressure, but that 3.0 is fire. It doesn't help that he keeps building mock-ups
  20. Guys - just catching up on the thread after the intros, and you're KILLING it! Loved the fitting write-ups, and psyched for you all to get them in-hand and start the real testing. Great work, everyone!
  21. Ohhhhhhhh yeaaaaahhhhhhh..... We're in double-digit days, y'all!
  22. I actually bought two pair yesterday - a pair of "jeans" and a pair of golf pants - I'll come back and let you know what I think when they get here. This will be my first foray into their non-underwear items, lol - so fingers crossed they're worth the (admittedly) insanely cheap price.
