  1. Agreed: it’s amazing how hitting more greens and hitting closer to the flag makes you a better putter. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  2. The 2 ft long 2 in wide ruler has helped me immensely: start line has always been my issue. I forgot who mentioned it 1st in this thread but I went straight to Home Depot after work that day and picked one up, put it on my skilz mat and started practicing. It was much harder than I anticipated, and that was my 1st indication that I wasn’t as solid of a putter as I like to think I am! Great training aid! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  3. I’m all about my push cart! I used to carry, and I bought my wife a Clicgear for Christmas so we could walk when we play together. When I saw how comfortable she was walking without having to pick up and put down her bag: I decided to get one. I’m not getting any younger (38) and my back is certainly thankful I’m not laughing my clubs and water all across gods green earth. I can walk 36 with a push cart, carrying I’d have to go motorized for the 2nd 18. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  4. I wear a white belt at least half the time on the course: bought one as soon as I started golfing; and I believe I saw tiger with one in like 2011. White/grey/black are all “neutral” colors and match anything - according to my fashionista wife... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  6. I would say errant shots aside, if you reach every par 5 in two with a short iron or wedge you might consider moving back. If you need a wood to play your tee shot on a par 3, move up. I play my 2 usual muni’s from the tips, but if I’m at a harder course or a course I’m not familiar with, I’ll move up. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. 1) 7.6 handicap Salt Lake City, UT 2) Titleist AP3 Project X 5.5 shafts 8 iron 185 carry 3) Not much: I know they are DTC and some of my fellow club ho’s have been interested in the wedges...
  8. Tee shot on par 5 9th: smashed my 3 wood leaving only 208 to the flag, and promptly hooked my 2nd into the hazard with my 7iron. Made a 6... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  9. I could lose a few without missing them: I could lose my 3 or 4 iron, and probably my 6 or 7 and my 9: but I’ll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I give up my 5 wedges. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  10. For Polo’s: 1) Puma ( love the graphics/designs) 2)Oakley ( slightly tight across shoulders, but great designs) 3)Nike ( the blade collars brought me back) 4) Under Armor( great shirts, a little vanilla in design for my taste) Shorts 1) puma (great colors and comfort) 2) UA( super stylish bottoms, wish the tops looked as good 3)Oakley (breathable/comfortable) Pants 1) Nike 2) UA 3) Puma I suppose we all have different definitions of “expensive” but I shop the Adidas, Nike, & UA factory outlets: these aren’t irregular products, they’re just overstock. Most of my Puma gear is from the discount rack of Golf Galaxy or PGA tour superstore, or golf discount.com - much like the ski/snowboard industry, last year’s products can be had for cheap.. Tee shots

Totally agree: and I fell into the latter category: my length off the tee was a liability due to my average driver tee shot being 285 but suffering from a 2 way miss. Clubbing down keeps me in bounds, but it also cuts down on birdie opportunities: as you put it, higher floor lower ceiling. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

    Tee shots

I’m gonna create a separate post so I can show a bunch of data on this, but I’ve been waiting over a month for my new driver shaft, and have been teeing off with 3wood, 3/4 iron, and other irons while I’m without my driver. It’s been eye opening: am I scoring better? Yes 4 strokes better on average when compared to last years June rounds. Are FIR’s up? Yes, by a whopping 4 fairways (40%) a round. Are GIR’s down? Yes by about 10%: but I’m hitting longer irons into greens. Am I a better golfer now than last year? Definitely Am I making more eagles and birdies? Nope: but I’m not making double bogeys anymore either. RevKev & DaveP043 both make good points but golf is so individual: I would agree that the likelihood of a 12 handicap hitting 2 good 4 irons followed by a solid 7 is unlikely, it all depends on the particular golfer’s strengths and weaknesses. 13. Pretty much: I should mention that if you’re shafts are “in stock” at the CC headquarters in Chicago it shouldn’t be that long, but if they’re placing your order with an overseas manufacturer... I’ll just say I’ve gotten pretty good with my 3 wood all of a sudden Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  14. I got fitted for a new Driver shaft(Tensei Pro white 60 TX) for my G410 plus at my local CC on 6/6: still waiting on that shaft as of today... That is not a knock on the fitter: he’s a good dude and was very thorough with my fitting. I can’t wait to post my findings once I have it and have gamed it for 20 rounds, but I placed that order over a month ago... So... if those custom shafts are coming from japan like mine is, you can expect a 60 day wait minimum. So, if you wanna blow 2k on an iron set you might not get til September... Tee shots

I’ve been hitting my 3 wood while I wait for my custom shaft to arrive( it’s been 5 weeks) and I have improved with it! Using it off the tee has helped me have more confidence with it off the turf; which still only happens 1 -2 times a round. I’ve learned that I tend to cut/fade it, and I can’t use as strong of a grip with it. Bad shots aren’t blocks dead right anymore, instead it’s a 215 yard sky ball, which is what you get when your AOA is negative. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  16. Fowler is this generation’s Sergio Garcia: all the talent in the world but can’t seem to get the talent to equal wins, specifically majors. My guess is he’ll have a career similar to Sergio: a fan favorite, pushing 20 wins, maybe a major or 2 towards the end of his prime. Great guy and certainly not a bad career, but I feel like he’s underachieves for the last 5+ years. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  17. As someone who hits it into OB regularly, I fully understand why it’s a 2 stroke penalty, but I’ve always been confused as to where to drop. Specifically, if my tee shot never realistically was ever traveling over an in bounds area. I’ve always taken the 2 shot penalty and re-tee’d, and was confused by playing partners telling me to, “take the distance” - I was always like, “what distance” lol: ball was OB before it flew 20 yards Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  18. Francesco was on a tear for over a year, I think he’s just regressed back to the mean... But his swing is just smooth: always seems b tempo and effortless Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  19. I've run into him several times: there is not a genuinely nicer guy .He's already won on tour, but I wonder if he's a good enough putter to close out a major or a big tourney... He basically gave Webb Simpson the WM earlier this year. But I'm always pulling for him!
  20. Can you play on the LM more? You’d want peak height to be in the 100 ft ball park, sometimes adjustments in loft can do that, but sometimes a different shaft is needed... As someone who just had a driver fitting there is no way I would’ve gotten my specs dialed myself, but if you have access to a LM and free time... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

  22. I think your post might’ve changed her mind! I think she really just wants to find a lady instructor she can relate to: her being a 6’1 lefty makes her a bit of a unicorn... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  23. How old are your wedges? If it’s basically time for new ones, it might be easier to go full T-100. I’m assuming you like both sets equally and it just a loft/gapping issue? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  24. I’d love 18 pars! But I would assume a par round for me would include at least 1 birdied par 5 and at least one bogeyed par 3 Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
