  1. Sorry for your troubles. I feel for you. Three years ago I had my left foot fused. I couldn’t walk to the mailbox. Anyway now I am recovering from a toe amputation on left foot. So I can only count to 19. I would ask you Dr. for orthotic inserts for your shoes it will make the world of difference. Get well soon.
  2. I have played Vokey for many years. Currently have 48/10, 54/14, and 58/12 in the bag.
  3. 2 week summary: The pros: Both balls are extremely durable and maintain the sharp white they started with. I tried barkies , top shots, and cart paths, all still looked good. The only test they couldn’t pass was my float test. Unfortunately a Chrome Tour is now in a beautiful greenside pond. Both balls played extremely long off the tee. They may be a little longer than a prov1x. Both balls rolled very true and I found the lines really help on inside 15 feet. Outside that I don’t use lines to line up the ball. Old eyes you know. Cons: Here again I thought that both balls sounded clicky on the greens. Didn’t notice that with full shots. The Chrome Tour X didn’t spin well with approach shots. The Chrome Tour had an adequate amount of bite on the greens. Had a tough time with chipping with both balls and I have a pretty good short game. The lack of spin on bunker shots hurt there too. Will be doing some head to head testing against other balls in the next couple of weeks. Overall, I would say both balls are great balls and are near the top of the pack. They are a significant improvement over the Chrome Soft Family.
  4. Did some chipping, pitching and sand practice. The balls felt a little hard. I was getting very little grab from the balls. Found that the Chrome Tour stopped better with mid to high iron shots. I will say both balls are long and feel good coming off the tee shots.
  5. I have played 36 with the same ball the only real wear I see is my sharpi marks
  6. Well it was a little chilly this morning at 38*. Ball testing went indoors to my putting studio. Yes I am a solid golf nut. I have a few putting training aids that I use. In case you were wondering there are 4 Scotty Cameron’s, 5 Oddesseys, 7 Pings, 1 Achushnet, 2 See Mores, and 2 US Kids (for the grandkids) putters. There are more ,but, they are really old. The balls sounded a little clicky. They roll good and the alignment lines are a nice addition. As the day warmed up I was out to the range and working on the short game. Don’t think I have ever brought brand new balls into a bunker for practice. The sacrifices we make. The results were pretty good. Once again while chipping the clicky sound was even louder than with the putter. I had a friend chip a couple and he thought they were loud also. Tomorrow is a game day. Weather is suppose to be be in mid 60’s. I plan on playing the same ball as I did the other day to see how durable they are.
  7. Going to do some putting work tonight. Will be doing aim line and feel testing. Tomorrow I tee off at 8:40 and will be playing the Chrome Tour x.
  8. Just received my white box today. They are Chrome Tour X all #1 and 4s.
  9. I probably have 25-30 putters. I lose track. My major gamer is a Scotty Cameron Super Select 2. It just feels so right.
  10. I game Vokey SM 9 wedges. 48-10 56-10 (bent to 55*) 58-12
  11. My Tuesday group plays between 9-9:30. We usually have 24 players. Thursday group plays 11:30-12:30 and is about 16-20 golfers. Then on Saturday we play at 8:00-8:30 and is just 8. It is nice playing with different groups there is some overlap but usually play with different players. Oh, the retired life is so grand.
  12. Welcome aboard everyone. Currently down in Mexico enjoying sunny skies and 80* temperatures. Get home on Sunday and will start the test next week if the balls arrive by then.! Suppose to have great weather in NC.
  13. I am also in the tee it whenever I can camp.
  14. Can’t wait till January 8 to order a set of Mizuno 245.
  15. It was a buddies trip to Ireland and the course was Ballybunion. We started off in a drizzle, by the fifth hole it was raining pretty hard, then the wonderful wind started to blow. Now the rain started coming down in sheets and it was blowing sideways, the temperature started to drop into the 40’s. Couldn’t use an umbrella the wind was too strong. The caddy thought we should quit, but man this was Ballybunion. So play on.
  16. My current irons are the Callaway Apex Pro 19. Waiting for the new Mizuno’s to come out in 24. Going back to an old favorite. This post started me thinking of all the different irons I have played over the years. My first set were Spaulding Bobby Jones irons. I have played Ben Hogan, Macgregors, Wilson Staff, Tommy Armour, Ping Eye 2, Callaway,Titliest, and Mizuno. I played the old Cleveland 588 wedge for probably 10 years until they finally ruined the design, now I am a Vokey guy. Oh by the way my golf goes back over 63 years.
  17. I used Club Champion in 2017. I will never go back. The shaft in the driver was a discontinued model. The irons came with all different lies and lofts. Fool me once, shame on you.
  18. I also think the Ping Eye 2 was a big game changer. ping revolutionized the game with it’s clubs.
  19. I joined a private club 16 years ago and never regret it. Yes it is a little expensive, but if you’re playing courses for say $50-$100 it really isn’t that expensive. The key is finding the right mix of people, they are what really make a club. I was asked by a member to play with him and a group of guys about 20 in all. Besides being a great course and I played pretty well, the real selling point was their was no pretense of who you were, after the round we went up to the Members Bar and every single guy in the group came up to me shook my hand and said they hoped I would join the club. What a great welcome. It didn’t take long and I started playin in 3 different groups Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. There is a range with a short game practice area, 2 swimming pools, a great gym, and the clubhouse. All add value to my experience.
  20. I am kind of boring with my grip choices, been playing the same grips for years now. They do get changed every year though. Golf pride CP 2 on all clubs except the putter which sports a Scotty Cameron Mid Size. I guess I don’t like change.
