  1. How do you guys like the Mizuno fairway woods. I think they look great; however, I have yet to get a chance to test hit them.
  2. For anyone that has tested these side by side, let me know which you prefer and why. I'm still waiting on a chance to test hit the Mavrik SZ 3W, but I was very pleasantly surprised by my results today with the Cobra SZ Tour. Although the head is definitely tiny compared to most 3W models, I was not having an issue launching it and it seemed to retain good numbers on less than stellar strikes (I hit several out of the heel today and was shocked at how well they held the intended line and where they finished relative to flush shots).

    Mavrik Drivers

Anybody test the Mavrik/Mavrik SZ against the Cobra Speedzone Xtreme/Speedzone? I am curious which ones stood out positively or negatively in terms of distance, forgiveness, etc. Cheers!
  4. I appreciate your feedback! I have never had a matte club before, but the more I look at the matte/white, the more I seem drawn to it. It just looks clean. I definitely need out to a range and hit the SZ.
  5. Thank you! I just read the review and it was a great write up!
  6. I have been considering a new driver this year, and I really like the looks of the SZ driver with the infinity face wrapping onto the crown. Has anyone hit this driver or played it? I would love to know about its ability to keep spin low and also about its forgiveness. Lastly, as I'm torn when I see pictures of the two, do you all prefer the gloss/yellow or matte/white color scheme and why? Cheers all!
  7. ST 200 is definitely a driver I would like to test. Great to hear the more recent driver lines from Mizuno are performing well for you guys.
  8. Gotta go with the putter on this one. It is such a great feeling to drain a putt from downtown.
  9. I use the Grint, but mainly as a source for recording rounds for handicap purposes. While on the course, I prefer to use my Garmin G80 or my rangefinder depending on the situation.
  10. Typically I have about 3 sleeves of balls, one extra glove, some tees, club wrench, one divot tool, a couple specific coins I use as markers, a sharpie, rangefinder, handheld gps, towel, rain jacket, snowcap, sunscreen, and a couple coozies. If I plan to walk, I take out everything that I know I will not need (e.g. rain jacket, snowcap).
  11. Welcome to the forum! How is that Cobra driver treating you?
  12. Thank you for the great photos! Those new icons are definitely sweet looking. Let us know how you hit them.
  13. I have a combo set with 7-PW in the MP-20 MMC and I am absolutely in love with the irons. I have a feeling you won't want to take those new sticks out of your bag for a long time.
  14. Love the Mizunos! How are the wedges? I must admit, I have never hit a Mizuno wedge.
  15. Three rounds in with the new mizzys so I thought I would report back on some initial thoughts. Being early in the season and a club/shaft change to boot, it took me a bit to get in a groove with them, but once I started making solid swings, I fell in love. First, these clubs are as beautiful at address as they are in the bag. Second, I have played irons from multiple different manufacturers over the years, and I can now affirm that there is something to the #nothingfeelslikeamizuno slogan. On a well struck shot, both the HMB and MMC (even more so) felt so unbelievably amazing. I have never experienced irons that felt this nice; simply pure. I even got a "nice shot" from a gentleman playing in front of me who was near the next tee as I flushed a PW to about 5 feet or so on an approach. I can't remember the last time a shot of mine garnered any attention from those playing around me, at least attention that was not preceded by me yelling, "fore!". Ultimately, if you have the ability, I would strongly recommend the the HMB/MMC combo. You will love them!

    SIM vs. SIM Max

I am seriously interested in hitting the SIM whenever this pandemic calms down and clubfitters open back up near me.
  17. Robert / Bloomington, Indiana 9.3 I currently play Mizuno MP-20 HMB/MMC combo. I would love to test the PTX Pro-Icon Combo! What better way to test whether the DTC segment can match an industry titan on feel/performance?

    WITB

I still have them! It was just a fluke opportunity where I was able to snag the mizzys at a great price due to a friend looking to offload them. Overall, I still like the Cobra irons, they are solid clubs. I did miss having a thinner topline and sole, espeically in the scoring irons, however. The MMCs have been beautiful in that regard. I plan to throw together a second full set with the Cobras so I can continue to have fun and tinker around with the different toys.
  19. Hi Everyone, I'm fairly new to MyGolfSpy and looking forward to chatting with others that are passionate about the game. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing for 20 years. I picked up the game at 14 when my family moved to Saginaw, MI and the new friends I made all seemed to love golf (I had never played), and I figured if I was going to fit in with the group, I better start playing. What do you love about golf? I love everything about it; however, the things I appreciate most of all are the endless challenge and pursuit of improvement, and the opportunity to spend a few hours with my closest friends joking, having fun, and sharing a beverage or two as we all play the game we love. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I came to MyGolfSpy for an opportunity to converse with others who share a passion for golf and golf equipment and to hopefully learn some new things while having fun. Where are you from? What is your home course? I am originally from Kalamazoo, MI and while I don't really have a home course, I would say that Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, IN has been the closest thing to it the past several years as I have been living in Indiana. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing about golf in the midwest is its relative affordability compared to some other areas of the country, and speaking about Michigan in particular, the sheer number of courses that are available is outstanding. If you have not experienced golf in northern Michigan, you are missing out! The worst thing about golf in my region is that the season is just too damn short. What do you do for a living? I am currently law student, and will be practicing in Chicago next year when I graduate. How’d you pick your user name I'm lame and just combined parts of my name.
  20. I would love the "Broke 80" tag. To date, it is my biggest accomplishment in the game. Thanks!
  21. In the past I struggled to hit the 3Ws I had off the deck but still used them off the tee on shorter par 4s. Now I have a 3W that I love and I use it off the tee and also on many par 5s. It's not going anywhere.
