  1. Maybe my numbers might be wrong but and i applogize but bottom line, i was hitting the maverick almost twice as far to left and right of center as the ping.
  2. The maverick was over 60 yards where as the ping i believe was around 30 on average because i wasnt missing left at all . If i remember correctly.
  3. That is what i have really taken into consideration, and the ping did feel better in a tactile way. The hit felt solid and the sound was appealing. I know in time i might be ablento get comfortable with the maverick, but will it happen before i get too frustrated. That is why im going to go with the ping i believe.
  4. Well it was roughly 20-30 yards more right on average, it would most likley end up in the trees where i am. I dont know if the confidence is there with the maverick because of that.
  5. We did 5 different driver heads and started eliminating based on my feedback and the actually hit. Then between the those two we played with different weight shafts. It felt more solid with the ping and more controlled. I do have a fast transition from backswing to downswing.
  6. No matter which one i get i will try this, its a great idea because i dont believe he is doing anything with length.
  7. I never really gave ping a thought because i really dont like the feel of their irons even when it was flush. But their driver is winning this battle, the only thing that i dont like are the speed bumps in top but that is not a deal breaker.
  8. With the maverick i didnt hit any down the middle even with a fade or draw. The ping felt more solid. I did try the maverick with different shafts and it didnt help with the erratic dispersion. I had an taylormade r1 up until 2 years ago and i got rid of it because no matter what i did i couldnt keep it on the fairway. I havent used a driver in that time, im trying to lower my score and give myself better scoring opportunities.
  9. No we didnt go over length, we did shaft weight, and driver heads. This was the first pro shop i liked in the time i have been playing golf. He did my irons and i have been happy with them.
  10. On average it was 10-15 yards but accuracy was an issue because the misses on the callaway were worse and the ping g410 it was more manageable.
  11. Hello everyone, so i got fit for a driver, and i am a very tactile person. With this amazing sport of golf everything matters, touch, feel, sound etc....so after trying 6 different drivers it came down to two. Callaway maverick max 66g stiff and ping g410 plus 75g stiff. The maverick i hit longer but less accurate than the g410plus. It was a little more erratic, but more yards is what we all want, right?....do you go for the longer club, struggle and try to get more accurate? Or do you take the more accurate and try to make it go farther?
  12. Update: after trying many golf balls, i have settled in with the Srixon zstar....it is the best all around with low spin of the tee, more accuracy on fairways, plenty of spin off the wedges and a good roll and feel on the greens. I just want to thank everyone for there input....i appreciate it greatly!.....next up....getting fit for a driver.... Thank you all again!
  13. I played the oncore avants for one round and didnt like them at all, there was just something off. The supersofts have been good but i have the srixon z stars that im ready to try....ill see what happens when inget on the course. How do you like your mavrik?
  14. Thank you for the input! So far i have been using callaway super soft and taylormade tour response the past few weeks. I like the feel of them both, tour response went a little further on certain shots and responded a little better around the greens.. I have ordered some srixon z star per a couple of guys in this thread saying for the money it is a great ball. I will test them put in a couple of weeks as i will be traveling. I will keep you posted, and if i ever can get my hands on kirkland balls i will try them as well.
  15. I am about to buy some of this years srixon zstar, BOGO from srixon. I will try them out and let you know what i find. Here is the link:https://www.srixon.com/us/balls/golf-balls/z-star-golf-balls/MZSTAR18.html
  16. Ok so played this weekend with predominantly callaways supersoft. They feel good fly pretty well, i lost a little distance. But i joined golfpass+ and finally got my free dozen golf balls....taylormade tour response....anyone have any experience with these? I only played one sleeve but they felt great and i gained a good amount of distance over the supersoft. I have 3 more sleeves, and a couple more rounds before i leave florida...they might be a winner ill keep you posted. I still would like to hear if anyone one has experience with the tour response ball, im hoping it wasnt just a good day of ball striking...hahaha
  17. Thank younso much for your input, incannot take offense because i am a high handicapper and that is why i am asking. My struglle withbthe game is off the tee and putting (i always feel rushed, but thats for another thread haha) i just want to hit straighter with my longer clubs. Around the green i have seen very little difference between balls because of the way i play the shots and the inconsistencies of yhe actual greens from course to course. I feel confident around the greens. I will definitely give the srixon a go. I did try maxfli, but they just didnt feel good off longer clubs which lowered my confidence. I might pick up a sleeve of srixon and see how it goes, i am still on the fence about callaway supersoft but it was a little straighter than chromesoft. I will let you know how it goes....thank uou again for your time.
  18. I never know what to tgink about prior gen balls and overruns....but ill look into that i was getting chrome soft 2 years prior for like $25 a dozen.
  19. i understand what you are saying completely anout green backwards approach. And i was more consistent with chrome soft but i just started playing supersoft so i know i have to figure out how they work on the green. I swing pretty fast and have great distance but sometimes spin is my worst enemy withbthe premium balls.
  20. As for swing speed, im not sure because i dont use a driver. But if i had to go based off this chart, i would be between 100-110. And as for lost balls, it depends on the course and how hot it is, both things affect it for me. I have played 18 holes with 3 balls or 15 (really bad day lots of water). I have been playing in florida since beginning of april and i have progressivley shooting worse. I think its due to the heat and flooded golf courses. I played supersoft this weekend and had some great shots but around the greens im a little off from what i ised to do with chrome soft.
  21. I have bookmarked that website and i will check it out and give them a go once i run out of the supersoft from callaway. Thank you very much for the input and advice.
  22. i have read the ball test, thats actually how i started with journey mygolfspy! And that is why i tried a couple of the balls on the list, but i didnt like the feel and also it felt like i was all over the place thats why i came back to the chrome soft. I dont care about distance right now, im not even playing a driver in my bag. Im looking for consistancy and being straight. I figure the distance will come in time. I also watch txg almost every video they come out with for the past 2 months. I like what they do but and i will keep watching but i think they are on a different level that i am at but i do like the information. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
