  1. FWIW, I started playing the v2 for price (not cringing when lost), the feel and the high spin needed on my irons. Then was one drive down here in Naples I hammered a drive and was expecting to be substantially past my partner who I was usually longer than. To my surprise I was 30-40 feet shorter than him. Based on this I checked out Ballnamic and MGS and find the v2 is the worst into the wind. im 90 driver SS and lower spin player and will be trying the BX or BXS next.
  2. I was fitted a few years ago with Sam Putt Lab at CC and they fitted me into a 34” slight toe hang mallet. At that time I didn’t buy from them and took those shoes specs elsewhere. I think putters are very mental and you need to like the looks and feel of the most used club. I have been through 6 putters since the lifting looking for the right (to me) design, look and feel while having great confidence. I think I’m very close with the Spider SR 34” face balanced (no toe hang) putter and like the insert feel, alignment, look and confidence. Since I play in two locations year round May get a 2nd putter for pure sex appeal and fun at the location with no competitions. For competition it’s the SR. In all fairness to CC I did move from 35” to 34” and happy with this. I spent a lot of time trying putters at PGASS and bought from them. It did take a few changes since putting in competition on my course is different than putting in a store.
  3. My experience also with graphite vs steel. Also try not hit off mats!
  4. Do you have real sweaty hands on humid days? I do and I found the CP2 wrap slippery. I can’t imagine the Pro much better than the Wrap. I think a lot of grips work if you don’t sweat much. If you have a bad case only a few grips work.
  5. FWIW I will take two drivers out to a course when it isn’t busy. I’ll hit exact same ball with both drivers over several holes and compare the results with a laser. This is a real world comparison and how I compared the two flash models. CPO makes this easier with Callaway 1-2 year old models and then I return or trade in the loser. Drivers change very little year to year.
  6. I’m a 73 y/o year round club golfer with a 90ss and a hcp ranging 11-16 based on different courses and situations. I constantly find and are given premium balls including Pro V1, V1X, Tp5x etc. I’m conservative so I play these (don’t buy) and feel these 3 balls and some other premium balls are going to give me the stopping power into the greens I need and won’t differently effect my game much. Do you agree that at my level I’m not losing much from playing the same ball all the time like a Pro V1?
  7. I’m 73 and playing the best golf of my life since I started at 51; thanks to retirement and more golf time. I went to a Callaway demo day a few years ago and was fitted into a Epic Flash 10.5 45g Green Even Flow regular flex. Shortly after this I read the Mygolfspy article on drivers showing the favorite to be the Epic Flash Sub Zero. The fitter never tried this head probably based on my 90 mph swing. I did see slower swingers we’re also doing well with this head so I traded my driver for the Sub Zero. I’m finding slightly longer drives I’m assuming from less spin but also straighter drives. i play year round in Naples and Columbus and find trajectory needs to change based on the changing course conditions. Now that the fairways are drying out a lower drive is a longer drive.
  8. Seasoned does sound better than super senior! What I like about golf is if you start late you can continue to improve and compensate for a trending slower swing speed.
  9. I’m 71 and still (slowly) improving since starting at 51. Currently working on many things, however my number one goal is to get a consistent in to out swing providing a small draw. I feel if I can accomplish this for my go to shot I will score lower.
  10. Just had a very interesting golf match in our Old Pals single elimination tournament. My partner and I are 71 with a 14 handicap and made it through the qualifier in the middle of the pack. Our first match we were against two 30 y/O’s with a 1 and 3 handicap. We stayed to our game plan and were 4 holes up after 12 and feeling good. The youngsters picked away and used their length and club speed to their advantage. On the 17th they both drove a small green 280y away in a valley with creek in front. One was 8’ away and just missed eagle. I think the old bodies were taking they toll and the youngsters were strong. They tied match on 18 and took their first lead on 19 for the win. I was disappointed but enjoyed the entertainment of seeing what high swing speed can do to a ball flight. I started at 51 and never experience that type of distance. Time is running short but there always is next year!
