  1. Thank you for taking the time to post this. I have been really nervous about getting fit and this helped me a lot. Mainly cause the one thing that I really want is consistency. I love the irons I have now but I don't feel that they fit me great. Mainly because I am 6' 4" and don't always feel super comfortable over the ball. Thank you again! 2. Good to know. If I just can't wait anymore it is good to know that I have options.
  3. That is good to know. I don't think that there is a TrueSpec near me. I live in Minnesota. I am leaning toward Club Champion. It seems like a lot of people really like them.
  4. I would have to agree with you 100%. since this all happened and I started walking more instead of taking a cart I find that the time that I'm walking to my ball and gives me time to focus on what I'm doing instead of messing around with friends. It is also made me less frustrated with bad shots which is kind of weird because I think about it I have time to get over at my head and focus on what the next shot is going to be. From now on I'm going to walk as often as I can even after all this crazy stuff is over.
  5. I tried it out last year but I found myself going away from it because I was trying to use my phone less to focus on what I was doing. why was using it I thought it was okay I had used golf pad before and I like that a little bit better the only downside with golf pad is that it didn't have the handicap feature.
  6. Every other year I try to read Zen Golf. It is a quick read and a good way for me to get my mind right during the long MN winter's. Earlier this year I finished Tiger Woods by Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian. I thought it was a really good to get a look inside what made Tiger the way that he is. Especially given that I grew up watching him and he was the reason that I got into golf in the first place.
  7. If I won the money the first thing that would happen is my wife quitting her job. Then she would start looking at houses. I wouldn't quit my job for a couple reasons. One I am a teacher and I love my job. The second is that I would get way too bored if I had that much time on my hands. This whole Covid thing has just confirmed that fact.
  8. I have been watching Rick Shiels and Peter Finch. More recently I stumbled on to Alex Etches. He does a lot of what he calls out of bounds episode where he hits a random assortment of clubs that you are likely to see golf channel commercials. He also does retro review s and club reviews. I think he is hilarious but his jokes are similar to the ones I make.
  9. If you don't mind me asking where did you go for your fitting?
  10. I enjoy walking rather than writing. Just like you said I feel like it puts me in a more focused mind stayed. And allows me those times when I'm walking to the ball where I can end of be inside myself instead of joking around with friends. Whenever I have the opportunity I walk instead of ride.
  11. I usually play 18. I would love to play 36 but that doesn't make the wife too happy. Also since having my daughter I am happy to sneak in 9 when I can. Golf is golf right?
  12. Before I got my rangefinder I would religiously use a GPS on my cell phone. but over time I found that I would get more distracted by my cell phone then actually focusing on golf. And for that reason I bought a rangefinder and I'm super glad that I did. For me I feel like it gives more accurate distances and I can find the range for whatever I want instead of whatever the GPS unit allows me to.
  13. The main reason that I switch from Spike to spikeless shoes was just due to a comfort factor. I personally find that spikeless shoes are more comfortable that also might have something to do with the fact that I wear size 14 shoes.
  14. I used to put with a similar style that you use. But about three years ago I switch to left hand low. I'm a righty by the way. And with this I feel like I have more control over the putter head. And a better feel for the stroke. My setup and routine is similar to yours but when I do my practice stroke I look at the hole to try to gauge the speed that I will need for the putt in the touch. Over the last year or so I have been more focused on trying to get my speed right and decrease the number of three parts that I have in a given round.
  15. During this time I have been rotating between two different yoga programs one focusing more on flexibility and the other focusing more on strength. I do that everyday alternating between the two. Then for strength I do resistance band workouts because it's something easy to do at home with minimal equipment.
  16. I have always enjoyed morning rounds more than twilight rounds. I think the thing about it for me is I really enjoy being able to get up in the morning early when there's dew on the ground and just breathe in the fresh morning air. And then you can watch the sun comes up warming the day as I warm up in my golf game.
  17. Thank you for your reply! I did mean OEM I couldn't remember it earlier. I want to buy new clubs because the set that I have is about 6 years old and they are game improvement irons and I am looking at going with blades or muscle backs. Also I have never been fitted for clubs they have also been off the shelf.
  18. Hi everyone I am new to the community and I am in the market for a new set of irons. I was wondering what kind of experiences people have had with custom fitting. Where did you have it done? Did they try to push high end clubs and parts? Anyone go with generic iron heads? Any advice would be much appreciated!
  19. I have really enjoyed walking. This whole thing has given me a good excuse to use my push cart more. I feel like I stay looser when I walk instead of taking a cart.
  20. 1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing golf for 15 years. My normal score is 85 to 95. Depending on how I hit em. 2. What do you love about golf? I love being able to get outside and enjoy the challenge boh physically and mentally that golf brings. No two shoots are the same! 3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I joined MyGolfSpy because I really like getting opinions on equipment and just the game in general. I do not know any other spies. 4. Where are you from? What is your home course? I am from MN and I would consider Crystal Lake Golf Course. 5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The MN golf community is awesome. A lot of helpfully and generally nice people. I have never been randomly paired with a group that makes me feel alienated. The worst part is the winter. I know classic MN answer. 6. What do you do for a living? I am a high school science teacher. 7. How’d you pick your user name? First name and last name comb.
