  1. Seduced by the distance of the 7 iron indoors at a golf store, bought these and didn't get on with the stock rifle shaft in the real world. $1200 + tax new, take these off my hands for $850, with the cost of shipping split evenly with the buyer. These are really hot off the face, and easy to hit, but the shaft isn't stout enough for me (coming from x flex steelfibers - thought that these would ease me into old age, but there is life in me yet, it seems).

7 and PW saw the most balls - only used hitting premium balls (TP5) off mats, some of the clubs only saw a handful of swings. Weird light reflection on the 7 iron in the photo of the set, so I've included close-ups of the 7 and PW. More photos available if you are interested.

  2. Some perfect items for a backup bag, or a cheap way to try out some really easy to hit hybrids and fairways. And an awesome ventus velocore shaft. Priced so that I can make about the same as trading them in, so grab some quality items without the reseller markup...

Clearing out some items that don't get to see the course very often - they deserve a home where they get some use. All these clubs would contribute to a great backup/vacation home bag - very easy to hit, and lots of life left in them.  More photos available if you are interested (wanted to keep the length of this post down - already photo heavy!). All prices shipped and paypaled

Ventus blue 6x velocore, with Callaway tip (from an epic speed driver). Measures a tiny bit uner 44.5" tip to grip, built to play 45.5 in an epic speed ls. $210

Original Rogue draw driver, 9deg, choice of  tensei av blue 65x or  aldila synergy 50s. $150. Will consider offers for the head only.

Nike vr forged wedge set - 48.10, 52.10, 56.14 60.10. Custom built at Nike HQ, with my initials stamped on them. Project X PXi 6.0 shafts. Tons of life left in the grooves (get 10K+ spin on full shots off a mat with GC3). Would like to sell as a set, but will sell each for $40 or $140 for all 4.

Ping g30 3 and 5 wood, stock ping stiff shaft (tfc419). Original headcovers, in great shape. $80 each, $150 for the pair.

Cobra f9 hybrids: 17 and 21 deg,  arccos grips, stock fujikara atmos 7s shafts, original headcovers. Incredibly easy to hit - 17deg lost out to a cally super hybrid rocket launcher and the 21 carries the same distance as the 24deg for me with lower flight so no room in the bag for either. $80 each, $150 for the pair.

  3.

    • Explain why you chose the model you did and what you'd hope to get out of them performance wise: I hit a forged tec 7 iron against others in this category, and the flight and distance control seemed great. The x model worries me about consistent distance and I hit it far enough that I don't need the extra help. I hope that they give consistent distance and flight across the set, even on less than perfect strikes (my current irons drop off in distance, spin and trajectory f you don't button them and I would like a little more forgiveness!).
    • List your first name/city state (US Only entries): Dan, Pebble Beach, CA
    • What current irons you're playing: Srixon z785/z forged
    • Handicap: 5
    • Will you agree to patriciate in discussions on the forum about your experience with the irons after receiving them. Absolutely!

  4. Looking to trade a minty 35” Scotty Phantom 5.5 (previous gen) with new head cover for my next putter try-out. Betti Innovai 6, Ping PLD Tyne or Toulon Las Vegas in equivalent condition for a straight up trade. Would rather trade, but would consider selling for $385 shipped, with $5 extra for east of the Rockies.  Let me know what you’ve got!

  5. Wanted to love this - it is a rocket launcher - but not for me. Time to move on to the next experiment, and I need $375350 obo to fund it…

Callaway epic superhybrid 19deg with ventus blue 7s shaft. Some sandy range ball marks on the face, but the rest of the club is in perfect shape. Mostly hit indoors, maybe 5 range sessions and 3 rounds outdoors. Comes with an extra 5g weight so you can mess about with swing weight if you want and original headcover.

  6. Looking to trade a functionally new tsi3 15 degree fairway head for the equivalent tsi2 head. Hit it a handful of times indoors - absolutely no sign of it ever being hit. Open to good condition (ie used) tsi2 trades, Don’t really just want to sell, but will take $250 pp and shipped if anyone just wants the head,

  7. Volatile is relative - having moved here from Oregon, the likelihood of a dry, sunny day is much higher here! It can get wet and windy if a system comes in off the ocean (like today!) but you are just as likely to be 65 and sunny. Flicking through old photos on my phone of Dec, there is lots of sunshine.

i havent played PB that time of year, but Spy can get a bit wet, and Spanish Bay is built on sand so plays pretty well after a soaking.

  8. I switched from modus 120 stiff shafts to steelfiber 110 in x flex - the former were mizuno mmc/mb combos, and the latter are in Srixon 785/z forged combos. I got the Srixons on a whim at a price that was too good to pass up, because I wanted to try the Srixon heads, steelfiber shafts and a stiffer flex (my swing speed isn’t overly fast, but I have an aggressive transition). The switch has been awesome - obviously it isn’t a direct comparison because of the different heads, but the steelfibers feel great - really smooth, great launch and spin, and I haven’t had a moment’s thought to switch back. I had heard that the steelfibers play stiffer than their stated flex, but I have had no problem launching and spinning them - my 7 iron club head speed is in the mid/upper 120 mph range.

I have never worried about things like swing weight numbers (just go on feel), but I can say I don’t notice much of a difference.

  9. Looking to see if anyone has a set of clubs their kid has grown out of that they want to sell on - need to replace the starter set with something suitable for a 5ft 2in 12 year old who will probably be 5ft 3 by the time I have finished typing this, given the rate he is growing. Hits his driver about 180ish, and I don’t want to buy new if I can avoid it, because he will grow out of them in the blink of an eye. Ideally we need a driver, hybrid, a couple of irons and a couple of wedges. Let me know if you have anything you want to clear out of the garage!

  10. 5 items up for grabs:

    - Epic Flash SZ 9deg. Nice condition all over (face is a little worn at the bottom, but nothing that affects playability), crown and sole in really good shape. $185 170 head only, $230 $215  with a tensei av blue stiff, shipped anywhere CONUS.2CC0683B-A941-4258-83D6-EF3B5DA01C89.jpeg.1b527c57a3d0054d2415ce552c01bfa5.jpeg7ED4DB6A-0A45-4916-B0CF-67BCCA082A77.jpeg.76f0a603da00d79b84ad36001adc7e42.jpegFA518A1B-449F-43EC-85E1-3A652CEC66E4.jpeg.25a8bdbb60e102322055fcddd2a980e0.jpeg

    - Srixon U85 3 iron (20deg). Excellent condition, barely used. Recoil 95 stiff shaft too light for me.  $125 $110 shipped

    E5FF00D6-0521-486E-84C8-6C8DACE3F3D5.jpeg.5aac3143b262065feba3fde951b23599.jpeg2DFCDD4B-DBF7-4136-9A1A-8DD54AC1843C.jpeg.b02dde368a799e7a7ca7b029ccfbaad6.jpeg1C5F7FCE-FE45-4CFC-B572-778CC312DD12.jpeg.0fdf027690b523b231e26f1495c9eba0.jpeg

Ping adapter, pulled from original shaft (sold the head, and recycled the shaft with a new adapter). I believe this works with 410 and 425 drivers. $sold

    - Cobra F8 3/4 wood, Aldila NV stock shaft. Love this club, plenty of life in it, but it has been on the bench for over a year so deserves a new owner. $sold

Final item is a combo set of x forged/apex mb. 24 and 27 deg x forged UT with modus 120 stiff, 6 and 7 are x forged 18 (also modus 120s) and 7-PW apex mb with KBS flt 120 stiff shafts. All are 2deg flat, standard lofts and lies. Two seven irons, you can pick which one to use depending on your ball striking that day.... $sold obo shipped, $5 extra outside the west coast. Willing to split these up (mb only, or the UTs individually) - rather than post a bazillion pics, message me if you want more photos of anything. MBs show usual bag chatter for soft irons, and faces show some wear but no browning and tons of life in all the grooves (spin more than my mmcs on the launch monitor)

  11. I have 3 sets of forged irons - Nike pro combos from 2013, x forged/apex mb combo from 2018 and a set of mp20 mmc/mb combos. There is no way I can play cast or fake-forged again (hollow ones or ones with forged faces - even the apex irons felt harsh to me). As many have said, the feeling of hitting a solid forged iron is worth the scars (both on the clubs, and to your dignity when a slight mishit falls 10 yards short).  From my observation, the forged cavity backs hold up a lot better cosmetically, with the blades appearing a little more dinged up, but the 2018 apex MB is the prettiest iron for my eye and I can live with a few bumps and bruises. Once the face starts browning, though, it is time to move on.

  12. Clearing out my COVID lockdown spending spree. Open to offers, all prices are shipped CONUS, and paid with Paypal goods and services. All putters come with original head covers.

    - Ping g410LST (no headcover):

    head only- $SOLD

    ping tour 65s - SOLD

     Speeder 757 Evo - $85

65s is standard length, evo plays a little less than 1" shorter.

    - Callaway x forged '18 UTs: 24 and 27, standard LLL., nippon pro modus 120s shafts. 27 has a new mcc +4 align (newly installed), 24 has a tour velvet align. Excellent condition, great clubs, just don't fit with my gapping anymore (mp20 mmc 6 iron is 28 degrees). $95 $75 each, or $170 $135 for the pair. 24deg has a small ding (shown in photo in the sole, barely noticeable), but otherwise they are in great shape.

    - Odyssey stroke lab double wide, 35". Face is in excellent condition, hairline scratch in paint on the sole (dropped it on the cart path!). Head cover included. $140 100

    - Ping Sigma Tess 34". Again, in great condition with no marks on the face. Seems to play a couple of degrees flat vs the black dot, but I don't have a tool to measure. Easy to bend to whatever you want. $85 60

    - old faithful TM Spider Rossa Monza 34” - looks like a klingon battle ship, but deadly from anywhere inside 10ft. Most stable putter I own, but time to move on - it needs a new, loving owner who misses too many 6 footers with their current putter. New superstroke grip with counterbalance weight. $65 40

  13. 6 hours ago, Taserface said:

Yeah I think practice warm up putts are dialing in your grip pressure, once you get relaxed they start going straight.

I was very close to buying one of those ex putts, I am just not convinced they are accurate enough, they look pretty cool, but I thought that the surface itself looked like it was not pure or perfectly flat. But I have not seen one in person. I think for stroke analysis you need some what of a perfect surface. Since it is analyzing the final position of the ball traveled over a questionable surface.

What is your opinion of the lumpiness of the surface?

The surface is totally smooth and rolls well. It seems to give pretty good data, though I have only been using in for less than a week.

  14. Been using it for a month or so now, after a 2h putting lesson just before thanksgiving. It revealed the choice to either rebuild my grip and posture or try to find a putter to cover up technical flaws. I decided to do the long-term fix, and the squareback fits the new setup. So far, so good - I use a gate and putting mirror to practice starting the ball on line for 8 footers, and interestingly I always slightly pull my “warm up” putts before getting into a groove. I bought a putting fork pro that fits easily in my bag and I throw it on the practice green before I play to work through the pulls before I start (or I just stick two tees in the ground about 2ft in front of me to act as a gate). This has made a huge difference to my putting inside 10ft (combo of lesson, new putter and proper practice).
I got an exputt sim for Xmas, and it has been really interesting - it confirmed my tendency to come a little out to in with the face a little open if I don’t get ball position and stance distance from the ball right (the left miss). It also showed I consistently swing the putter in to out with the face a little open on long putts (the face and path match - I just push it). Hitting some right-hand only putts gets me feeling a better release of the putter head, and has really helped in keeping those longer putts on line (feeling the head release through impact).

Now I just need to fix my Magoo-like green reading...

  15. I found myself reminiscing in a similar way - I started playing in the mid-80s, and always wanted a set of Wilson Staff irons (they were the prettiest things around back then - the size of butter knives, and you could cut your finger on the topline, but so shiny!). I found a few sets on ebay for about $150, and am sorely tempted to finally get a set, just for fun as you mentioned.
