  1. I went out and used mine for the first time on a course this last weekend as well and was pretty happy with it. I wasn't lucky enough to pick up a weight kit though as they were all out of stock by the time I got my order to go through. Between the somewhat slow greens I played and the stock lightweight head of the putter I kept coming up short, but mostly right on my line. Will be happy when they restock the weights so I can make some adjustments, but overall VERY happy I picked this putter up. (though truth be told, I had never played an Anser style putter before and am somewhat using this as my trial run and if all continues to go well may end up buying a Scotty once I get my weights and such dialed in). Glad to hear you liked yours too! Would love for more people to enjoy this putter so they expand the line.
  2. I have one of these on order and it is expected to ship out later this week (fingers crossed since I have been waiting for it since early March). I hope to put some videos together on it when It comes in. I have a net set up at my house and plan to build it into a more permanent structure in my yard as well as taking this out on the range/course like what @Gsi10561 mentioned as well. Let me know if you have specific questions on it and I will do my best to get those answers for you once it comes in.
  3. I always tell people I'm too poor to throw my clubs. Lol. Those things are expensive. Who wants to go buy a new $100-$500 club just because of 1 bad shot? Worst I do is after I finish putting I might throw my ball...but I tend to throw it either on or in the direction of the next tee box. (those are $4 each... )
  4. $25 A ROUND!?!?!?! man I live in the wrong area...Many courses in this area charge that just for your cart!!! Lucky guy.
  5. Ahh I forgot about accessibility. But my definition is different than yours. There are some courses in my area that are just hard to get on to unless you book over a week or sometimes 2 in advance. Like I can't just wake up in the morning and be like..."I think I want to play x course today"...that is unless I want to go and wait a couple of hours and hope for a spot to open up for a single. (note: This is before the covid situation, and I have not just gone out golfing on a whim yet, so this may not be a problem like it was before currently)
  6. When I look at a course I look at several things: 1) Condition/Maintenance : If a course is always in bad condition then I have no interest in playing there. Would rather just go hit on a driving range than play a course that is in bad condition (bad tee boxes, fairways bare, unacceptably bumpy greens ect...). 2) Price to value ratio: If the course is gorgeous and has a good layout that is challenging, but fair the price is less of a concern. Obviously i'm not going out to Spyglass or Pebble every week though. If it is a muni quality course and costs less than $80 then I'm good with it. If it is a high quality course I'm fine with anything up to about $150 on the regular. When the price goes up above that, then It is more of a once in a while course. 3) Layout: I don't have a particular style that I like (i.e. Tight with trees, Placement, open links style ect), but I do want it to be long enough that I'm not just hitting wedges to every green. I also Hate it when courses don't let you ever hit driver (be it with due to sharp doglegs, or hazards crossing fairways). It can be a risk reward type thing, but give me the option. If you do too many forced layups I wont be back. 4) Location: I'll happily drive up to about 1.5 hrs to go play a course. Any longer than that and it is going to have to be a somewhat special round. 5) Difficulty: I like to play courses that provide a challenge. So if I am looking for a new course to play and am between a couple, I might look at the course rating and slope to see which one might be more challenging. That way "IF" i play well I will feel I deserved it.
  7. Very nice! I actually learned on a knockoff set of those clubs! Still have them! My allegiance might be shifting... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  8. I mean you only "Need" 1 club. The purpose of having more is so you have the option when needed to play a different shot. For example, you can chip around the green with a 9i (substitute any other club here if you want), but there are shots that will be easier to pull off consistently if you had other option (short sided, downhill, over a trap is a lot easier with a 60* than it is a 9i if you want to have a chance at being near the hole). You can putt by bladeing a wedge or using a driver/3 wood on the green. I've done it...do I do it as well as a putter? No, because it is a better club for that shot. I will concede that if there is a club in your bag that is for a particular shot, and you are not able to consistently hit that shot, then you may be better off not having the club to tempt you into trying and forcing you to default to a more reliable shot. However, if you have the skill, and the space in the bag, having a club for those once a round needs, can save your round.
  9. Building a Set around 1 course huh? That’s like those people who have a “scratch” handicap at “Their” course, but can’t break 80 anywhere else...might be hard to win a comp like this boxing yourself into that group... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  10. Better be carful there...an 8 handicap might know how to learn new things faster than an 18...otherwise you wouldn’t still be an 18! GO B.Boston! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  11. Maybe an Anger Management medication....Or at leas have him be the face of the problem...like the "Before" image...
  12. I wanna play where you play...If I did that, I am pretty sure I might get balls being hit into me pretty quick.
  13. I mean if he is using a caddie he is doing even less than you! Can’t even clean his own clubs = can’t talk crap about your cart. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  14. Just tell your buddies it makes it easier to carry more beer and they might just start doing it too ;) I am also 36 and just started using a push cart and am quite enjoying my bock not being tired after a round. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  15. Any era...: Johnny miller The Shark Greg Norman Pain Stewart (After his wife set him straight) Relatively current players: Boom Boon Freddy Couples and for fun Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler
  16. Way back when, I bought the original TM RBZ driver (2011 I believe). I played that for a couple years until the TM M1 430 came out in 2015. I was still happy with my driver so had not even thought about it until my Father and I were at our local Muni (Shout out to San Jose Municipal GC) and he says "Hey have you tried the new M1 yet?" to which I snarkily reply "NO..why would I? You buying it?" ..... TO my shock he says "Yeah Sure"...Needless to say I had a new driver on order that day. (ended up buying myself the matching 3 wood a couple months later...) ANYWAYS...Happily played that driver until May 25th, 2019 when I hit a drive at Poppy Ridge GC in Livermore, CA and it sounded weird. Looked down and there was a small crack at the bottom of the face. I shot an email to my guy at Muni and he told me to bring it in. He took it and called his friends over at TM. By June 6th They shipped me a brand new M5 to replace it at no cost. So that is easily the best deal in my bag. (still gaming the M1 3 wood though..kinda hoping I crack the face soon...) (note: I probably should have taken the plastic wrap off the driver before taking a photo...too late now..)
  17. Now that is a turni I would like to watch!!
  18. You beat me to it !!! I took too long looking up the length of Augusta 50 years ago... Totally agree.
  19. Keep in mind that in the last 50 years courses have made the players basically play an extra hole. In 1970 Augusta was 6,980 yards. Now it is 7,435. That 455 yards longer should make scores higher, but they are still shooting better scores that in the past. Thats pretty good. If you take the 3-4 shots those extra 455 yards should take, and add them to your ~5 strokes better now it is more like 9 stokes better. Think about that. To make the cut you generally have to be within 10 strokes of the lead. Barely makes it.
  20. Used to be nothing and I would feel like crap after my round. Now I pack a banana or two, some cheese (sting cheese if I’m being honest) and typically either some beef jerky or dry salami. Throw in some beer and/or a cocktail and that’s my food. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  21. Almost totally agree. I will not use a tee unless it is a driver, a tee shot with 3 wood (when driver is a bit too much due to short fairway/dogleg but could use an extra 5-10 yards on my Normal 3 wood), and lastly when 3 wood is too much and a stock 3i isn’t enough (my stock 3i goes about 210 ish on average, but off a tee I can push it to 235). All other shots are off the deck since that is what I practice 99% of the time with those clubs. I give up a little distance, but gain consistency which is way more important. 22. That's an awesome swing for anybody let alone a young kid! Way to go guys! My son just turned 8 and I am in the process of teaching him golf, I hope I can do as well as you have so far.
  23. So I realize I am very late to the party on this thread, but I came across it and it brought back some good memories. When I first started playing a friend of ours built me a set of cobra knock off irons with over-sized heads and a decent amount of offset all good things for a beginning golfer. What I don't understand is why they would give a beginner a 2i right out the gate, but they did and I am probably better off for it. I actually still have this complete set 20 years later as I have used it to teach friends or loan to my wife for the once a decade round of golf she joins me on. While digging through my garage to find this 2i I found something else too! When I got good enough, I took over my father's Henry Griffith Blades and then added a 2i to it. I played these for a long time before I "Upgraded" to my own (and first new set) of Mizuno MP32's. When I bought those I sold off the Henry Griffiths in full with exception of 2i. I just couldn't bring myself to let it go (Especially since Mizuno didn't offer a 2i anymore to go with my new set). Over the years I have toyed with the idea of getting it re-shafted and putting it back in the bag. And now this forum is making me think about it again...The good old days... Then I stand over it and look down at that thin top line. Then I see it next to my current Ping iBlade 3i and realize just how small the face is...Scary looking club. But I still love it!
