  1. I purchased some repurposed/used balls, I am a high handicapper like you and shot my best round of golf with them. I used Bridgestone. Couldn't notice the difference between these and brand new ones. Paid about $1 a ball. I don't get much spin on my shots so these worked well for me. Just a thought
  2. Join some of the Scotty Cameron groups on Facebook. Some of these guys have great collections and have all types of Scotty's to sell. I got mine from there
  3. I bought the Nike Air Hybrid bag and used it for the first time last week. I carted and it looks great. I did not have any issues getting my clubs in and out of the 14 individual slots. I walked with it from the car park and around to the driving range, it wasn't much heavier than my old bag, and once I fitted the straps it was pretty comfortable. I recommended it. It will be my bag for many years to come.
  4. I say do it! Try your theory out and use your putter that suits the read. Leave out a club you hardly use, or one you can compensate but not swinging as hard or swinging harder.
  5. Thanks, I think I need to add a gap to my bag. Just purchased a lob wedge the other day
  6. I would have to say my PW. It is the only club I hit consistently and it has saved me out of the rough so many times hahaha
  7. I would have to agree with you 100% here. All three are the reasons I play.
  8. I was thinking 2018 or 2019 irons. Just waiting for that one person who upgrades every year and trades the old ones in or is selling them haha. I will definitely take your advice about testing and not buying right away. I have been reading and the M6's are getting good reviews. I will go test them out and the Pings.
  9. The condition of the course is my first, and then scenery. Also, I don't own a range finder, so a cart with a GPS is a massive bonus for me.
  10. I am under 45 and have medium swing because I am focusing on my technique more than power. Which has helped a lot. When I get more consistent I will be able to swing a lot faster. I have been playing regularly for the last 2 years and have shaved about 10-15 strokes of my score now, and want to consistently shoot in the 90's. I will go test out the Ping G's and TaylorMade Ms when I go visit the store next. My other shafts are all regular. Thanks again for the advice.
  11. Thank you for your detailed answer. Only recently have I been able to get my swing to start hitting the iron in the air proper distances. Before that I was shanking them low and to the left. Right handed. I have a medium swing speed. I have a 4 hybrid which helps me get distance and I am wanting to start my iron set at 5 to PW. I have a Roger Dunn near me and I got my driver fitted there. I think I might just have to go there and use one of their booths. I was wondering what brands are more forgiving but had some feedback as I progress. Thank you for mentioning some brands, that is what I was looking for. There are so many irons out there to choose from. I think I might look at TaylorMade, Ping and Callaway options.
  12. I would have putted it from there too, that fairway is too nice not to play it safe. A little rougher and I would have had to use a SW and tried to drop in just short. I can't loft it too high anyway
  13. I started with a Strata set of Irons when I begun and they have been great (I recommend them for anyone starting out) but now I am shooting around 100 and want to shave a few more strokes off my score to consistently shoot in the 90's. What is the best irons to upgrade to? I am looking at used irons but want something that is very forgiving and consistent. What has been everyone's experience with brands and types as they have progressed in the game. The irons are the last piece of my bag I haven't upgraded yet. Note: Not looking for people to sell me a set (pure advice only).
  14. Very interesting, I appreciate your response. I will look into Aimpoint Express
  15. Haha good to know. So if I get one, maybe just use it when I am in my group of 4 mates
  16. Is it worth getting a green book for the few courses I play. They are public courses, do the greens change that much on public courses?
  17. I mix it up but believe for consistency with the make and feel, driver/woods all the same brand/type, Hybrids all the same, Irons all the same, and wedges the all the same. The groups (Woods, Irons, Wedges) can be different brands with whatever works for you and feels right.
  18. I appreciate the feedback. The 2 cents everyone has is the reason I posted the question I think something that will help with spin might be the way to go. I am not too worried about distance at the moment. Not until I am more consistent. Thanks
  19. The courses I play at have hardly any water so I will only lose around 1-2 balls per 18 holes, last round didn't lose any. My handicap hasn't been determined yet, maybe 28, I shoot roughly 105 a round. I don't mind spending money on the little things like balls, I have ordered some refurbished ones on the cheap to use and test out. Thanks for the tips
  20. Lately I have been liking the Bridgstone e soft balls, bu those trial ones are a good idea, I will check it out
  21. Thank you! I have a direction now to see what may suit me best.
  22. That makes sense. I have an average swing speed and hardly any spin on my shots. I will look for balls that assist me in those areas. Thank you!
  23. What is the best golf ball to use? Does swing speed, clubs and or conditions play a factor?
