Welcome to the Forum, you've among friends here, who will talk to you all day about your equipment and ours!

Great looking bag,  man you got that driver fast.  I ordered mine the day they were available, and I've been told July 9th for shipping.    Can't wait to get it, it looks great and did extremely well in the Most Wanted testing.

I drove 2 hrs each way because the online retailer had the low stock indicator and i was impatient.

I hope Ping will name its driver G420 and offer Mary Jane green color scheme. Stoners rejoice! 😄

I can't say what it is, but I can tell you for certain it's not G420!

Maybe this is the opportunity to reach a new market.  Might be a missed opportunity for an outdoor sport surrounded by nature with an aging demographic.  It might even chill some of the wannabe tour players out.  They can call it the Masters Edition (like the Cobra AMP) for the hardos out there and leave the numbers for the stoners.

That limited pars and stripes driver looks amazing!!!

I just traded in my F9 for the pars and stripes SZ Xtreme.  I couldn't turn down the color scheme and the Blue Ventus.  It looks even better in person.  Yardage seems to be pretty similar to F9 but my dispersion is much better.  I played 2 rounds with it so far.  My misses are sitting right next to the fairway instead of lost in the woods.

That's quite an introductory offer. Hope the instructor is the right one for you.

I hope so as well.  I'm not sure but I believe the intro offer is due to high competition and the saturated market here in Orlando.  There are literally over 100 golf pros within an hr drive from me.  I guess they need the flashy offers to ensure a consistent client flow.

  5. I started playing golf as an escape during grad school (MBA focused on Data Analytics). I was spending lots of money to be schooled in the art of business. As my golf obsession continued to grow, it also became apparent how cut-throat and fake the golf industry can be.  I probably found MGS down some internet golf rabbit hole late one night but I haven't looked back.  The transparency and honesty is was brought me here, the continued quality and community is what keeps me here.

  6. Thank you to everyone for your responses!

I now have a pre-lesson appt tomorrow at one of the premier golf clubs near me.  I called them up and basically just explained my game and my experience.  They explained their introduction process and it sounded like a good fit.

Tomorrow's introduction includes a full swing analysis and short game analysis with video and trackman, and also playing 3 holes.  The introduction is free and does not require any commitment. After that we develop a long term plan to improve my game if i wish to proceed.

    Thanks again for everyone's input.

  7. Hey All,

    First Post on MGS!

Over the past year and a half I started playing golf frequently (usually at the course 3x a week between range sessions and playing rounds).  I use Arccos to track my rounds so I have a general idea of my game.  I have improved from a 27 hcp whacking it everywhere to a 18.8 hcp.  I generally play bogey golf with a few pars and doubles thrown in there.  I have never taken any lessons in my life.  I am pretty athletic and up until this point I improved by just tweaking things on my own.  I want to improve my game drastically and believe it's time for lessons or instruction.  I need some fundamentals.

My question to you all is: How do i ensure I am getting the best value for lessons?  I know golf brands market the hell out of every other aspect of the game and I am learning lessons are no different.  I dont mind giving someone my money, I just want to make sure it's worth it.  I live near Orlando, Florida so every form of lesson and coaching is available.  Some of my choices include:

    • Fancy Golf Academies - The Leadbetter Academy is a prime example
    • Normal Club Pros - There are 100 courses within an hr drive from me and each course offers lessons with their pros
    • Retail Stores - TopGolf, PGA Superstore, Golf Galaxy, ClubChampion, and every other brick & mortar golf store are located here and they all offer lessons
    • Digital - Youtube or subscription services like MeandMyGolf (I do live in a community with a course so I have access to a driving range whenever necessary)

Please help me apply the MGS model on golf products to services like lessons and make sure I dont get ripped off (that much).

What would you do if you were me?

    1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I've been playing golf for about a year and a half now.  My buddy asked me to go out and golf with him to celebrate his engagement and me being a groomsman for him.  I was hooked ever since.  My handicap according to my arccos is 19.1

    2. What do you love about golf? The combined physical and mental challenge and also being outdoors.

    3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Big follower on social media already and also a data junkie. Finally decided to join the community.  I have questions about golf so I figured this is a trusted community.

    4. Where are you from? What is your home course? I live right outside Orlando, Florida.  My community has a public course (Providence Golf Club) but I play generally anywhere close since there are many options.

    5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best: there is always a tee time available close by in any golf price point.  PGA caliber to budget golf is always available at the click of a button. Th Worst: Orlando is over- saturated with worst aspects of marketing in golf.  Snoody people judging every material aspect of your game.

    6. What do you do for a living? Finance for a large entertainment company run by a mouse.

    7. How’d you pick your user name? It's a play of my name mixed with the most feared bounty hunter in the star wars galaxy.
