  1. Thanks to both of you. That's kind of what I figured - likely to lead to good results but a fitting would ensure it.
  2. First, let me say I know a lot about golf having been a very serious golfer 30 years ago but I know absolutely nothing about shafts. People talk kickpoints and such...you might as well be speaking Latin. So apologies for my shaft ignorance here. So I got back into the game a few years ago (thanks COVID) after a 20+ year hiatus (I'm 54 now) and got most of my game back, down to a 5 handicap playing a few times a week. When I got back into the game I gradually updated my old clubs and bought a Ping G410 9 degree driver off eBay with a stock stiff shaft. That shaft broke last year so I went to Club Champion for a new driver and / or shaft and based on the conversations with the fitter about what I was looking for and what my budget was, he thought it best to stick with the G410 head and get fit for a better shaft. I ended up in a Mitsubishi Diamana TB 50 stiff with the Driver set completely neutral. I've been really happy with with the change as it's narrowed the window of my misses. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and one of my buddies in our regular game got a new 9 degree Stealth 2. Of course I had to hit it and hit it incredibly well - similar ball-flight of my driver but noticeably longer carry and total distance. My question is do I need to get completely refitted in the Stealth 2 if I decide to go that route or is it reasonable to think getting my current shaft put into the Stealth 2 would provide positive results? Or is that really stupid?
  3. Playing a tournament in a few weeks and getting a leather glove keeper and a pair of FootJoy premier golf shoes. Nicest gifts I've ever gotten at a tourney for sure.
  4. Same. I had my PING i-3 blades for 20 years but probably averaged 3 or 4 rounds a year over the last 15 years. Just got the golf bug again and purchased a new set of irons...would expect to do that every 4 or 5 years assuming I continue to play more.
  5. Ran into this a couple weeks ago when I got fitted for new irons. Started with PING G410s and I was all over the place...moved into i210 and i500 and hit the ball much more consistently. My fitter said that he had noticed that as well...or he heard it from the PING guy and said he noticed it.
  6. I would consider Firewheel my first "home course". Played there most Friday's for about 5 years straight. Haven't played the Bridges much as I moved to Austin in 1995 but the Old Course was my favorite while the Lakes Course did have some funky holes.
  7. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Been playing for about 35 years total. Was extremely competitive 25 years ago, playing 4 or 5 times a week (worked at a country club) with a 4 handicap. Needed to finish school, get a real job, etc and have played maybe 3 times a year in work events for the last 15 years. My son plays baseball in college and when his season was cut short due to coronavirus, he started messing around, caught the golf bug and now has me back into it. I’m guessing I’d be a 12-14 handicap right now...determined to get back into the 70’s. What do you love about golf? It’s evolved for me. 25 years ago I’d play Friday matches where we’d barely speak to each other, grinding over every shot...and I loved it! Today that would be miserable. It’s nice now to get out with my son or friends, be outside, away from work and drink a few Beers. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? .i don’t know any spies (that I know of). I just got fitted and bought new irons, replacing the 20 year old Pings, and was doing research before I bought woods/hybrids when I stumbled upon the site. Where are you from? What is your home course? Grew up in the North Dallas / Richardson area, playing Firewheel, Sherril Park, Chase Oaks and Tennison most frequently. Now I live in Round Rock (just north of Austin) and usually play Teravista, Star Ranch, Forest Creek but get lucky from time to time and have a friend get me on at UT Club. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Can’t complain. What do you do for a living? IT Sales How’d you pick your user name? My usual one was taken so it’s variation on my name.
