  1. UPDATE: I got the irons and played my first round! In short, they are amazing. I got the KBS Tour S shafts and they fit my swing speed perfectly. I was really impressed with their stopping power. I was about 180 yards out to a small green and only had 6 feet of roll out. And for the first time, on a par 3 I hit a 9 irons that zipped back. Aesthetically they are beautiful in the bag and behind the ball. No complaints.....besides the wait to get them.
  2. They were on back order and i am still waiting on them.....
  3. Update: I ordered the 101T's. Waiting for them to arrive!
  4. I think I agree! 101T it is! I do have one more question. They come in either KBS tour or KBS tour lite. My 7 iron swing speed is ~90 mph so I'm assuming going with the tour stiff, but do you have any suggestions?
  5. Id say I am pretty consistent with ball-striking. My miss is fat, but I don't have a pattern of hitting it off the toe or heel so from that regard I think the smaller club head is a good next step for me. In terms of distance, I feel like my irons go as expected. 8 iron: ~ 160 yards I have looked at the Sub-70s, but they don't look nearly as good as the Takomo in terms of looks.
  6. Hi everyone. I am a 16 handicap and 7 iron club head speed around 90 mph. Irons are the best part of my game and I am currently playing Callaway X-20 irons. They are cavity backed and have a fairly large head. I want to start getting into the next level of irons. I have whittled down my search to the Takomo 101T irons and the 201 Irons. Would love some advice on which ones to get! From the website: 101T Player's Distance. https://takomogolf.com/products/iron-101t?variant=45253934416182 Takomo Iron 101T is a hollow body players-distance iron that boasts loads of forgiveness and ample ball speed. You spoke, we listened. Advanced players loved the original Iron 101, but wanted a shorter blade length with less offset and thinner topline. 201 Player's Cavity Backed. https://takomogolf.com/products/iron-201?variant=45253934580022 Iron 201 is a cavity back iron that gives you more control over the ball flight. The 201 is fairly forgiving in its category, but it does not provide the same amount of ball speed on off-center hits as the 101. The 201 is designed for solid ball strikers looking for workability and control.
  7. 1. I chose the Forged Tec because I have been improving as a player and recently played a few rounds with some more "blade like" clubs and absolutely loved the feel. I hit my long irons around the same distance as I have cavity backed clubs and with this more mature style I see longer and higher flight and more consistent spacing in distance. Being a former baseball player, I have high swing speed, so I think this option is much better for me than the Tec X. Also, I just started using the Arccos sensors on my clubs and think it is super neat that the sensors are actually built into the grips. 2. Thomas / Chaska, MN 3. Currently play the Callaway X-20 Irons. 4. Handicap is a 13.8 5. Yes, I enjoy talking about my experience with new products, so I would be happy to participate in future discussions.
  8. Hi all, had the opportunity to try these out for two rounds. For some context, I currently use cavity backed irons so this was a big change going to these much more menacing looking irons! Results were mixed at first, but I love these clubs. The look at address was beautiful and even with the 6 iron (highest iron in the bag) I felt comfortable. I usually push my irons, but I was getting a tight draw with these. I hit the 6 iron over 200 yards consistently which I can't even get with my cavity backed 4 iron. Misses, especially fat, hurt distance, but it took a very off center strike to get the stinging in the hands. Overall I really enjoyed these clubs and now looking for well needed upgrade to my irons. Wondering if anyone has any ideas of similar irons and how would people recommend purchasing clubs (new, fitting, eBay, etc.) There are pros and cons for each; just haven't purchased a set of clubs before so looking for some advice! Thank you!
