  1. @Shifty This is in the Garmin Golf app, correct? I just checked one of my recent rounds and didn't have any issue seeing the entire hold (App Version 2.6.1). I'm wondering if it's a bug on Garmin's side and they don't gracefully handle the aspect ratio of that phone? I'm completely guessing with this, but it could be worth throwing a post on the Garmin forums in case they aren't aware. Obnoxious regardless of what the issue is though.
  2. League night was interesting yesterday. Some heavy storms rolled through CNY in the afternoon, but there was a break in the weather and the league officials wanted to give it a go as scheduled. Rain started on my second hole and got heavy by the time we got to the green. Group ahead of us was playing incredibly slow and I was staring down a miserable round... until the horn blew halfway down the third hole, still plenty close to the clubhouse. League called it for the night and after a round at the bar my buddy asks if I wanted to sneak in a few more holes. Wind was still whipping but the rain had stopped and looked like we were in the clear. Pro shop just wanted us back by 7:30 so we hopped out and got my last 7 holes in. Ended up being a great time and the rain held off. Didn't keep score but played okay. Was only the 2nd time my playing partner had seen that side of the course so was able to give him a ton of tips on where the best places to miss it were. Shot of the round was a 150 yd. 9-iron that I stuck to 18 inches on a par three... After I re-teed out of anger at chunking my first tee shot 90 yards. Just glad I didn't dunk it.
  3. Putted out of my mind in my league this week to shoot a 36 (+1). There were some phenomenal bounces (or lack there of... ball plugged 6 inches from a water hazard. Really a great round overall considering only having been out a couple times this year. And the fact that despite my score, I still I didn't get my first drive past the ladies tee made me feel really good about this season...
  4. Upgraded from the (old old) Vivoactive HR to the original Venu this winter. Had no idea it would start keeping track of where my strokes were. Coming from not having any stroke info recorded to actual locations was awesome. Had almost considered getting the sensors as well, but that was before I knew my watch would do this. Still have to enter which club, but kind of a nice reflection on my round so I can get mad all over again at my poor swings...
  5. Played in a tournament on Saturday. Shot of the day came on a Par 5 on the back 9. Hooked my drive into the woods and had a window to get my ball out into the fairway 85 yards from the green. Pin was back and had a slight breeze into the face. Took a high full 56* wedge that hit the pin on the way down. Landed 6 inches from the cup and rolled to 4 feet. Did my best to miss the birdie putt, but it snuck in anyway. Can't remember the last time I hit the pin on something longer than a chip.
  6. I've been using the Vovoactive HR since it came out. Most of the time it works great, but this summer it's been having trouble transferring the course data from my phone. It'll just stop and say the transfer failed. Usually deleting the course from the app and re-downloading it will fix the issue, but it's a pain to do when you're 10 yards away from your ball on the second shot of the day...
  7. Typically I either use a 1 cordoba coin or the free ball marker I got from @GolfSub70. I like to use coins from some of my travel when possible and the cordoba is a great size (basically the same as a quarter).
  8. How long have you been playing golf? 20+ years. Started with lessons when I was really young and have played pretty much continuously since then. What’s your handicap or normal score? Typically right around a 9 or 10 handicap. What do you love about golf? Love being outside and walking the course. Great way to get outside and play a game I love. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Appreciate the reviews and always love talking golf. Do you already know any other Spies? Not that I'm aware of! Where are you from? Grew up in Northwest Illinois. Have lived in CNY since graduating college. What is your home course? Play league at Links at Erie Village, so that's probably "home", but I try to jump around whenever I get out to play outside of league. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best: Large variety of well kept courses at reasonable prices. Worst: Winter is an off-season for golf so I have to remember which end of the club to hold come April/May. What do you do for a living? Engineer mostly focused on signal processing How’d you pick your user name? Heard the story about Corporal Wojtek and liked the name

I play the 699 Pro 3-iron. Bought it in the spring this year and subbed in the Modus Tour 120 shaft to match my irons. Course I play regularly is hazardous (putting it mildly) so keeping it safe off the tee is a must. 699 Pro works great and the feel is awesome. I've hit it off the fairway and out of the rough as well without issue. Really can't say enough good things about it.
