  1. I play a Callaway driving iron because it has improved my dispersion. As a result, it quickly became one of my favorite clubs. It’s largely point-and-shoot as long as I make a good swing.
  2. I am fine, and have had good experience, with used 5A or Mint-graded golf balls (typically Titleist Pro v1, v1x, or Left Dash) from reputable providers. I will not play any ball that says refurbished or refinished. It's a good value proposition for day-to-day golf. I generally have some new balls on hand for use in events.
  3. I was interested to read these reviews as I had a Sub70 mid-mallet 002 in my bag for a few years. II really liked (and believe my putting improved) due to the heavier head weight and loved the magnetic headcover. It's a small difference versus one with Velcro, but something I really liked having. When the magnet fell out due to wear and tear, I went online and chatted with a Sub70 rep about ordering a new headcover. He told me I had to call Sub70 Sales which I did... multiple times... and left multiple messages... which were never returned. This was my second time having issues with Sub70 customer service, so I have moved on from the Sub70 brand. I found a great deal on a new Scotty which works just as well, if not better, for me.
  4. Someone else may have mentioned this, but after using the soap and water on rubber grips, I spray Windex on a damp towel and wipe the grips. It REALLY makes them feel like new. I read it or saw it on a golf program and have been doing it or a few years now. Works great, except for leather grips!
  5. Sadly, very few I play with mark their balls... or play with the same ball each round. I use a single dot under the number and a line off both end of the model but also don't use the line for putting like the OP stated. I like the line for the visibility when identifying my ball from a distance. I rotate between three color Sharpies so I usually have the same number Pro v1 with a red, green, and blue dot and line in my bag, in play, and as a Provisional, if needed.

    Sub70 Putters

I play the Sub70 Sycamore 002 - the mid-mallet and love it. What I needed was a heavier head than you can find in most putters and this does the trick for me.
  7. I am largely a feel player after taking notice of the 100 yard marker. I will laser when I'm not comfortable with what my eyes are telling me or the pin position seem out of place (front vs middle).
  8. It's probably been posted somewhere in here, but everyone's ability to feel and tell the difference is different. For example, I can immediately tell the difference between a Pro v1 and a Pro v1x based on its launch and from its feel off the clubface. What I think is most important is playing the same ball consistently so you know how far it goes with each club, and how it responds around he green, in the wind, and off the driver. I see guys switch from a Callaway ChromeSoft to a Callaway SuperSoft and can't figure out why they react differently when they are "playing a Callaway."
  9. I only wear spiked shoes as I apply a lot of ground force and “spin out” when wearing spikeless shoes. I occasionally spin out even in spikes but that is more so when the spikes need replacing… which I do frequently.
  10. I used GolfTEC in both Cleveland and Salt Lake City for lesson and practice. I achieved greater progress during my time in Ohio and then used my SLC sessions to keep what I had achieved. I started out VERY over-the-top and ended up with a much better swing which has since been refined by periodic lessons with a non-GolfTEC coach here in Atlanta.
  11. A 4 wheel cart is not necessarily more stable than a 3 wheel cart. Stability is based on center of gravity and the distance between the wheels. I use a Sun Mountain C130 bag on an original Sun Mountain Speed Cart v1 that I push twice a week at minimum. I also have a four wheel cart that I bought for my wife and have used from time to time. The Sun Mountain rolls more easily on the very hilly course I play weekly.
  12. Our group used to play Coral Oaks each year on our way from the airport to where we were staying. The greens were usually nice and the routing was enjoyable. The overall course conditions varied based on the recent weather - wet, dry, burned out in spots...
  13. I am, and have always been, a dew sweeper, so anything that impacts getting off early in the morning is unappealing to me.
  14. I am a fan of not having DST at all versus permanent DST. As @mharr noted above, there are serious safety ramifications that resulted the last time this was attempted.

    Sub70 golf

I have a Sub70 putter in my bag that I self-fit into and love it. I wanted a heavier head as my tendency is to go offline on the backswing and the Sycamore 002 Mid-mallet fit the bill. It was assembled and shipped quickly. The one thing I wish I would have done was review the options more thoroughly as I should have selected a larger grip. I have since purchased one which made all the difference for me. I also tried their demo program for the 699 Pro irons and liked what I tried, but didn't find much difference between them and my then-current gamers (2017 TM M1), so I stuck with what I had. It is likely that more Sub70 clubs will be in my bag at some point.
  16. I am not sure what value this thread serves. It has nothing to do with golf and is solely about bashing and defending the differing sites. Given the sites, people who post on each (or both), and their opinions are different, it is disappointing that this meaningless debate has continued for 2.5 years.
  17. Four out of the five balls I find lying lost on the course I play most often are Kirkland. Maybe at their price point, their former owners don't bother looking for them. I don't know v1 vs v2, but drop them all in a basket near the clubhouse in case someone wants them. They hold no appeal to me.
  18. I play 100+ rounds a year plus also practice with my specialty wedges so the most I go is 18 months. By then the stopping power has been reduced to where the short shots are no longer a viable option. The ball just rolls out too far.
  19. I replace mine about every five years as they are looking pretty sad by then. This is my third Sun Mountain C-130 that I use mostly with a push cart twice a week at minimum. I also have a Sun Mountain stand bag that I keep in my SKB hard travel case for use on trips. It must be 12-15 years old, but has only been used 15-20 times.
  20. I have found the Z-Star XV to be the best in the wind. It’s what Hideki plays and what Brooks commented on when joining Srixon.. although he plays the Z-Starr Diamond - a ball he helped design. My regular gamer is Pro V1x.
  21. I am fully into performance fabrics as they work for me. I have migrated almost everything to UA gear (they fit best) although my one Galvin Green shirt is very comfortable and exceptionally cool on hot and humid days here in Georgia.
  22. It's disappointing news for many of us TXG followers and maybe even more so for those who have had CC fittings that didn't pan out as expected. Wishing Ian, Matt, and the team all the best as things progress.
  23. Interestingly, I find the exact opposite. With fewer dividers, my clubs seem to be in a clump that I have to move around to identify and get the correct one out of the bag. I also like the 14-way divider because I have Arccos sensors on my clubs. The dividers seem to help so that one club does not knock the sensor off another when being extracted.
  24. I have used Pure grips the past 6-8 years. The exceptions are when I buy new clubs as I use that to see if there is a reason to change. So far, the Pure grips remain my choice.
  25. A black HZRDUS shaft with red lettering is a HZRDUS Red, not HZRDUS Black, shaft. If your “fitter” didn’t know or couldn’t tell you this, then you definitely need to go elsewhere for a real fitting.
