  1. From the inbox today.... Gotta say I love this! Swing Juice didn't waste any time in coming out with the Jordan Spieth "Go Get That" T-shirt, in honor of that freaking crazy eagle putt on the back 9 Sunday... Kinda cool for $25! Check it out here. No matter how you slice it, it was an impressive putt! "Go get that!"
  2. So I was reading a bunch of the comments about Spieth's drop on #13 over at GolfWRX and was curious what the consensus was here on two things: 1 - What do you think about the decision to declare an unplayable lie and take the drop on the driving range - some think it should've been OB and that the R&A were playing favorites? 2 - How do you feel about the time it took for Spieth to take the drop and make his shot? They were already warned about slow play, do you think he should have received a penalty? Do you think it was fair/not fair to Matt Kucher? Just curious is all. My opinion on the matter is that the rules officials were there to make the calls. If they didn't call anything on him then that's that. I do hate that it took so long for Kucher's sake - that kinda wait can really screw up your momentum. However, I also think he could have said something about it if it were really an issue. Kuch is a good guy though and a true class act to give Spieth the time he needed. I think it shows how much he wanted to win on his own merit rather than pushing Jordan to make a hasty decision that could have cost him more than bogey.
  3. That was an incredible performance by young Jordan over the weekend... The kid was dominant and unflappable from start to finish, but one thing struck me as odd while watching: He's not Bubba or Rory long... He didn't pull off miraculous approach or escape shots like Tiger or Phil (not that he had to....) His putting was exceptional, but most of these guys are exceptional putters. He was just machine like in his consistency and his misses weren't deadly, even if no single part of his game made you say "wow." It was his overall game that made you say "wow." So what is it about this kid that makes him so good?
  4. As RoverRick aptly pointed out - Jordan Spieth's win was significant, both for the distance he set himself apart from the field, and for the fact that this was straight on the back of The Australian Open win last week. So - what are his current tools-of-the-trade? The Titleist Tour Blog provides us the details: http://www.titleist.com/teamtitleist/b/tourblog/archive/2014/12/08/the-winning-setup-jordan-spieth-at-the-hero-world-challenge.aspx Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth captured the Hero World Challenge in impressive fashion, shooting a final round six-under-par 66 for a 26-under-par 262 victory total. This is the second consecutive win for Jordan, both of which were won using the new Titleist Pro V1x prototype golf ball and new 915 driver. Jordan used the new ball to rank first in birdies, eagles, driving accuracy, putting and 3rd in greens in regulation. "The new ball is very much an improvement for me just as each version has really improved. This one's better for me because that softer cover around the greens allows me to have more spin control and softer feel off the blade of my putter without jeopardizing any distance or spin with the long clubs. It's still long off the tee with more control into the greens," said Spieth. Let's take a closer look at the full bag of Titleist equipment used by Jordan this week. Interesting to see Spieth going with the more forgiving 915 D2 rather than D3, and also that he's gone with 4 wedges - good looking bag. I've swung the 915D2 a couple of time and it's GOLD - my favorite new driver thus far.
  5. Jordan Spieth won the Australian Open a week ago, firing a 63 on Sunday and walked away from the field. Then flew halfway around the world, stopping at Mama & Daddy's long enough to leave the trophy there, and then went to Florida and on Thursday, took a one stroke lead, and more Friday, and more Saturday, and by Sunday practically lapped the field, 16 of the World's top 30. Even a bonehead double bogey on the back 9, one of 2 over par holes of the week, only got a snicker. He followed it with more birdies. And no one here is talking about it. Last calendar year, he won the John Deere. "I heard, that is a weak field." "That is an easy course." Then this year, he has the lead on the back nine at Augusta and falters and then Bubba took the win away from him. "He can't win." "He plays for second place." And the most asinine comment I ever heard, "He can't compete with Rickie Fowler." Ok, that was not the most asinine. That would be, "Reed carried him through the Ryder Cup." This is based on Graeme's come from behind win on Sunday. Once again, Spieth had one bad hole, and Graeme had three great holes. The problem in golf is as Keegan said yesterday, "The only way I could have caught him today was to body slam him." Oh yeah, yesterday, I even heard, but this is an easy course, again. Are you kidding me, he set the competitive course record by several strokes and it the home course for Tiger and a bunch of other pros. If it were that easy why wasn't second place 24-25 under to his 26 under. All courses are easy when you hit the center of the fairway and put the next shot on the green and then make a putt. Easy hole. We hear all the time, so and so is the next great thing. I do not know if Spieth is the next great thing, but when you compare their first two years, Spieth is in the Tiger league, and above Rory. As far as nice guys go, Rory seems as nice as Tiger's image once was, and Jordan seems even nicer. Time will tell, but now is the time for you to express your thoughts. Weigh in please.
