  1. Whoa...wait a minute... who is this guy? Arguably the most talented journeyman player on tour who, many agree, has far too few wins, will be in the field to defend the title. Hard to bet against Rory and he has shown recent signs of finally breaking loose. There was a time not long ago where many thought he would dominate each season Tiger fashion. The event will be played at TPC Potomac Avenel Farm because Quail Hollow is busy getting their track ready for the Presidents Cup. While TPC Potomac has not been on the main tour schedule the past few years, it is rich with event history. I did not know this course only has two par 5's. Generally a tour players best friend, and better than average odds at eagle opportunities, I wonder how they like this set-up? I also did not know that the "Avenel Farm" suffix is in tribute to the historic "short horned" cattle farm... the largest in Maryland history. I finally picked the winner (Rahm) at The Mexico Open . Still undecided on this weeks pick in attempt for the B2B win. Maybe one of my young gun rookies (Cameron Young or Davis Riley?) Don't forget to make your pick for this weeks winner https://runmypools.com/JRMPNWWF. Good luck!
  2. Wow, it's been a year already - pretty amazing. This was the first full event cancelled following the C19 pandemic. But, like Phoenix rising from the ashes, we're back . Will this be Rickie's breakout from the slump? Will Rory repeat... making him the first to ever do so? Will BAD start a new run of overpowering courses and the field? I've got all 8 of my FTx players in and have my money on Webb. Who ya got?
  3. Here are some bag shots from Collin Morikawa, DJ, Rory and Doc Redman from this weeks Charles Schwab Challenge. Some notes: Rory worked with both SIM and SIM Max but likely moving to SIM MAX at 9.0 one click lower than his 10.5 SIM. DJ likely putting the Truss TM1 in the bag, but tested it alongside the Spider yesterday. With DJ you never know what he'll go with. Also the BBQ putter covers will be available to the public beginning today. All Photos Courtesy of TaylorMade
  4. POWERED BY M5 DRIVER & '19 TP5 GOLF BALL, RORY MCILROY CAPTURES THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE WITH FULL BAG OF TAYLORMADE PRODUCT McIlroy's 15th career PGA TOUR victory is the 3rd win on Tour for TaylorMade’s New M5 & M6 Drivers featuring the company’s ground-breaking Injected Twist Face technology; also second win in three weeks for new Spider X putter WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: As he has since the Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Rory has continued to play a 9° M5 Driver, of which he's found remarkable success this season. At TPC Sawgrass, Rory averaged 305 yards off the tee for the tournament - good for fifth in the field. In addition to the M5 driver, McIlroy also games a 19° M5 titanium fairway, which he put into play the same week he added the M5 driver to the bag - in Kapalua. Rory's first PGA TOUR win of the season is the 4th win for the new 2019 TP5/x golf ball - joining Johnson (x2) and Fowler as staffers who've won playing it. Rory's preferred golf ball is the is the '19 TP5, stamped #22. Working diligently to find his putting stroke heading into the season's first major championship, McIlroy added the new Spider X putter to his equipment arsenal this season and the results have been impressive. This week, he carded 21 birdies or better en route to victory. His win is the second on the PGA TOUR with the company's newest putter; joining the winner of the Honda Classic. Having played the Milled Grind Wedges since first joining Team TaylorMade, Rory's setup has remained fairly consistent throughout the year This week, he opted for the Milled Grind Raw in 48°, complementing it with 54° & 60° Milled Grind Hi-Toe wedges. With the win, McIlroy will elevate to #4 in the OWGR and is set to be a #1 seed at the WGC-Dell Match Play next week. 5. A little over a month ago, TaylorMade and Rory debuted Rory's custom built clubs, the Rors Proto irons. I was wondering if anyone has come across some performance numbers for the irons like ball speed, spin, carry? It would simply be eyebrow-raising to see what numbers these clubs generate under Rory's swing. Maybe if someone has come across Rory's iron play numbers over the past month or so, that'd be super neat to study. Of course they're not production irons which hinders pretty much any possibility to gain numbers of them, but can't hurt to try! -Thanks! Swing easy.

  8. Rory hits a bad shot, loses temper, throws his club in the water By Luke Kerr-Dineen After ripping his drive down the fairway on Doral's par-5 8th, Rory hit a bad second shot into water and sentenced his 3-iron to death by drowning. He went on to make bogey on the hole, which dropped him to one-over for the tournament. Don't take our word for it: It brings to mind the famous Tommy Bolt photograph, who was renowned for his bad temper. "If you're going to throw a club it is important to throw it ahead of you," he once said, "down the fairway, so you don't have to waste energy going back to pick it up." "If you're going to throw a club it is important to throw it ahead of you, down the fairway, so you don't have to waste energy going back to pick it up." It's worth nothing that this isn't the first time Rory's punished his clubs, either. After dunking a shot into the water on Merion's 11th hole at the 2013 U.S. Open, he destroyed his 8-iron. So Rory apparently has a bit of a temper, which I could imagine a lot of us could empathize with. I've never broken a club but one of my favorite stories about my dad was his old (he has since calmed WAY down) habit of throwing clubs after bad shots. We were out on a fall evening just turning a quick 9 before the sun went down. My dad just absolute scalds a 7 iron down the fairway (and hadn't really hit a good shot yet that evening). Next thing I know I hear the sound of a club flying through the air, the club manages to hit the smallest, skinniest low hanging branch next to the fairway you could imagine and absolutely snaps the club in half. We laughed so far because it was so unbelievable. I believe his first reaction was "your mom is going to kick my a$$." Anyone else have any good club throwing stories?
