  1. Hi Everyone, I wanted to share an iPhone app I've been working on in my free time while holding down a tech job. For the longest time, I have been looking for something to help me take my game from the practice tee over to the golf course and when I realized most training aids were designed to be used on the range, I decided to build it something I could keep in my pocket in practice rounds. That's how concept for the GolfBeats app started. The app has vibrating cues to help golfers know when to start the next sequence. To use the app, I just open it before I tee off and make a few swings to make sure my swing is in rhythm, then head over to the first tee. If it's a practice round, then I'll keep the app running in my pocket and test out my swing under pressure. Sometimes I notice that my swing gets ahead of the vibrating cues because of the adrenaline/nervousness and the app helps me to be aware of this. Hoping for some feedback on the product and curious to know what you all think about it! Link to the GolfBeats app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/golfbeats/id1190230444?mt=8 (also included a driver swing I made today with GolfBeats) driver 01.12.mov

  3. As most of us will shortly be having the above view, I ask..........what are your winter "golf" plans? In my quest for scratch, I'm implementing a new winter plan that is specific to my game. Below will outline my weekly/permanent routine. 1. I will be cutting out alcohol 2. 1 hour of yoga and 1 hour of cardio every day 3. Hit at least 250 balls per week at an indoor range 4. Improved diet. (limit red meat, bad carbs, sugar, etc) 5. Research/practice implementing a better mental approach to the game Hopefully this will greatly aid in my quest for scratch. Do you have a winter plan?

  5. Hi Folks: One of my FAVORITE places for a golf buddy trip is Santee National Golf Club in Santee, S. C.... WHY? I think it is one of the best set up places for golfers to stay, play and carouse. The Santee area has a wide variety of golf courses, 17 in all, and hotels to fit your style and budget. Known as the “Value Destination of the East Coast”, Santee offers great golf for the money. Situated along Interstate 95, Santee is also probably the easiest to find golf destination. There are numerous places to stay but you would absolutely want to go with the golfers condos at Santee National Golf Club. They have 3 buildings along the 1st tee with 4 condos each and they are pretty much out of earshot of everyone. So, if you are like the golfers I traveled with, the more they drank, the louder they got, and here, you won't disturb anyone. We always seemed to run into a group or Canadians and they were FUN . They even brought their own bagpipers. That was interesting and entertaining. Drunk Canadians WITH bagpipes, what a HOOT. The condos are 2 bedroom, 2 bath and a full kitchen. The bedrooms have 2 double beds for 4 golfers per unit, so this is the way to go. Don't know about you, but I don't want to sleep in the same bed with another golfer, even after a few drinks. The 17 courses located int the Santee area offer more than enough choices for a week long trip. My favorites are Santee Narional, Lake Marion GC, Wyboo and Santee Cooper. They are all championship golf courses with tees for players of all skill levels. Dining is limited compared to larger places like Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head but there are enough places for variety in a week long trip and you still have your full kitchens and grills outside of your condo. Its always nice to have a juicy steak after playing 36. The ONE place that is a MUST is the Lone Star Bar-B-Que and Mercantile which is almost with in sight of the condos and is on Santee State Park road. This place is one of the most unique dining spots in the area and the locals and golfers in the know love it. Don't be put off by the 1920 look of the place, its worth checking out. It is only open Thursday to Sunday and I try to eat there at least twice when I am there. The price is right and I believe it is some of the best home cooking the South has to offer. They even had free live entertainment on a Saturday that we visited. So if you are looking for a destination that is less hectic and offers everything any group would need for a successful trip at a reasonable price, you might want to put this area on your list of places to go.

  18. You may have read our recent front page article on “How to Organize the Perfect Golf Trip to the UK or Ireland”… If you haven't then you can view it here. Anyway, I'd love to know any additional tips that you might have for organizing golf vacations (either to the US, UK or Internationally), so please post them below. Personally, one of the hardest things that I find when organizing a trip is to get friends (especially guys) to commit to coming, and not having them drop out at the last minute – which can cause a lot of pain. I find that the solution to that is to get the trip dates in everyone's diaries months in advance… and then get a deposit upfront from them as soon as you can (…you soon get their commitment once they've handed over hard cash!) Another top tip is; if one of your buddies snores loudly…. Then make sure that you put them a single room! (Or have a few whiskey's each the evening so that you sleep through it!) Let me know your top tips... Thanks Guy
  19. Constructed from a Super Cool Element
  20. Anyone every heard of Shinagawa? They are located in Himeji, Japan, along with Miura, Fujimoto, and ikasu (I think? not 100% on this last one...). Unlike brands like Miura, every single club they make is hand ground by the very humble Shinagawa San. I was told this super rare gold plated version is often used for gifting in Asian countries like China and Korea. Also let me know if anyone wants to see some other cool and rare JDM stuff.
  21. Does this appeal to anyone? Only $800
  22. Get it. Get it. Get it. (while it's still here)
