  2. Hey everyone! Finally getting to do a WITB for 2020 as I am "almost" finished upgrading my set after a decade of gaming a chain store complete set! My signature has my up to date setup, including bag, preferred balls and current shoes....enjoy Full bag - Mizuno BRD-4 Cart bag in Gray / Red.....just waiting for spring / quarantine to be over to get fit again for new Mizuno irons!! WITB layout of bag contents...loving the ARCCOS caddie paired with my Apple Watch!! Decades old Slazenger Wrath irons 5-PW still in play until I get my hands on some quality Mizuno irons....got fit for JPX 919's last year but seeing the new MP-20 HMB's make me drool!! New Adidas Code Chaos shoes are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.....thinking about grabbing a second pair to switch on-off to keep them fresh!! Upgraded the 3W to a SIM Max 15 deg this year......man this thing is a WEAPON from 200 yards Replaced the Driver early last season with the M5 9 deg tuned down to 7 deg after a great fitting with Club Champion Even though I have always had a good feeling for putting, upgrading to the Odyssey Stroke Lab 7 has given me the extra bit of confidence when on the green!! Excited to see what the rest of 2020 will bring!! Thanks everyone! John (J_L_35) Stay Safe out there!!
  3. Alright everyone, here's my WITB for 2020: Umbrella - I usually don't have it in the bag, but for these pics & the sketchy weather in the north east right now. Its in the bag. Driver - Callaway Epic Flash SZ - 9* - HZRDS Yellow 65x - I turn the head down 1* to 8* and move it to the D (Draw setting) Driving Iron - Ping G410 Crossover - 17* 2i - Alta CB 70x Irons - 4i - PW - Callaway X-Forged 18 - Project X 6.5 Shafts - 2*UP lie - "Standard" Callaway X-Forged lofts & lengths Wedges - Titleist Vokey SM7 - 50* - 54* - 60* - Standard L/L/L Putter - Taylormade TP Patina Series - Del Monte- 2* Loft - 70* Lie - 35" Ball - Bridgestone Tour BX - Flower mark on it, I haven't seen anyone else with that (that i play with) so its very easy to identify which ball is mine! I recently purchased some Srixon iron heads & some KBS $Taper 130x shafts, so i'm going to be giving those a whirl when the shafts come in! Pumped for the weather to start turning so we can get on the course more than once/wk! Also the putt out mat & putting trainer is awesome, def worth the investment, my putting has dramatically improved & my consistency is much better! I just purchased the mirror to take to the course and work on my putting stroke, looking forward to even more positive feedback!

  7. The Tour Depatment at TaylorMade provided some changes in the bags of it's staffers this week. Most due to the higher elevation they are playing at. Several SIM Max 19* rescues in the bag. 8. I think a lot of people will enjoy this podcast/interview with DJ done by Paul Trottie from the TaylorMade Tour Van. Everyone gives DJ a hard time for being low key and not very enthusiastic in his post round interviews. Here he really opens up a bit more, and you find out he's just an equipment nerd like most of us. It was fun to hear his thoughts on putters and the Truss in particular...you'll have to listen yourself to find out what he thinks. https://www.taylormadegolf.com/podcasts/20811-on-course-quirks-and-giving-back-to-those-in-need-with-dustin-johnson.html?lang=default
  9. Notching his 2nd win on Tour and first since the 2015 Sanderson Farms Championship, TaylorMade staffer Nick Taylor has a mix of old and new equipment in his bag. He also has something very unique in the setup below. Taylor also is the first ever wire to wire winner of the event. NICK TAYLOR M2 (17) 9.5 Fujikura Atmos Blue Tour Spec 6X SIM 15.0 Fujikura Ventus Black 7X SIM Max 4 iron P770 4-5 P750 6-PW Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 (all irons) MG Hi-Toe 52, 56 & 60 Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 Spider Tour TP5 The unique thing? This from Ryan Lauder of TaylorMade. Nick Taylor's SIM Max 4 iron (from our Tour team): It's 2 iron length and has 21 degrees of loft. It was originally 19 degrees, but was going too far, so we added some more loft. He hits it "Rescue distance", but controls the trajectory better and hits it super straight.

  14. Almost a total remodel of the bag. Epic Flash SZ 10.5 set at -1 N Graphite Design Tour AD TSG Blue X (45") M3 15 set at -2 Paderson Fairway KG 860-F30 S Epic Flash SZ 18 set at S N Tensei AV Blue 70 X Z585 4 & 5 KBS C Taper S Z785 6-AW KBS C Taper S Glide Forged 56 KBS Hi Rev 2.0 Glide Forged 60 KBS Hi Rev 2.0 SS 28 CS 33" Driver: Thank you MGS, flat out the best driver I have ever had in the bag. 3W: A random purchase after being unable to hit the original epic 3w. Put same shaft that I was fit for in the epic and it has been a match made in heaven. Absolute money from the tee and I know exactly what it will do from the fairway. Combined with the driver there are not many par 5's that I can't reach. 5W: Solid club but this spot has always been a trouble spot in my bag and that hasn't changed in 20 years. Irons: Love the combo and they feel absolutely amazing. All of them are 1* strong, standard lie and +1/2" Biggest thing I was looking for in making the change was more control. They definitely fly different than P790's but hopefully after an adjustment period they will meet or exceed my expectations. Wedges: A different look from what I am used to but feel is amazing. The shaft on full swings is so easy for me to deliver correctly. Putter: Not a fast revolving door but one that moves some. Have gotten used to the look of the center shaft but still struggling with alignment some. Ball: Titleist PROV1X #23 imprinted with THEZIPR in blue. Have played this ball since its birth and while I have tried many other options nothing has been able to kick it out. Rangefinder: Bushnell PRO X2 Glove: Footjoy Weathersof. Love the Ping tour glove but at the rate I go through gloves I just can't justify the price difference. Shoes: Ecco Biom G 3 BOA and Biom Hybrid 3 BOA. Most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.
  15. I have been using my new MG2 for a few weeks now and really like the feel. I have 2 other Taylormade wedges that I have used for the last few years and this one just feels different. It also passes the eye test as I seem to be getting more spin on the ball than I have before with the other wedges. Would like to know others thoughts on them. Thanks.
  16. I’m new to reviewing, but here goes. I haven’t seen much about the Ardmore line, never mind the Ardmore 3. It is part of taylormades TP series, and absolutely is worth a look. I recently bought one of the black copper series, and it is awesome. The look: It is a smaller, more compact version of a mallet. It reminds me a bit of the odyssey 7 series, but more its stubby awkward cousin. The flanges on the back look like they’d be for scooping a ball up, but this feature does not work very well. Most of the details come in the form of red accents, giving the putter a hot rod feel. The grip is a new superstroke pistol grip, with increased volume in the palm. It makes for a very relaxed hold on the club. The biggest negative is the headcover. When will taylormade stop using Velcro? It’s a pain in the butt! Magnetic closure please! Performance: This club has 42 degrees of toe hang, so it is great for someone with an arcing putter stroke. It has some decent heft to it, so it feels controlled throughout the swing. The face is very responsive. My prior putter had a softer face, so it felt like I had to hit it harder than I thought based on the length of the putt and speed of the greens. This made lags very difficult to judge. The ball comes off the face of the Ardmore a lot hotter, which makes lag putts far more manageable. The only adjustment comes with downhill putts that are fairly short. It can be difficult to touch them light enough not to see them run way past the hole if your line is off. Speaking of line, the alignment aid is quite nice, making putts very easy to line up. It rolls them true, and I’ve seen my average putts per round go from about 37 with my old putter to 33 with the Ardmore. No more blaming the flat stick for a bad round! If you’re someone who has a fairly pronounced arc in your stroke, and struggles with lag putts, I highly recommend this putter. You can’t beat the price either, coming in below the odyssey lines, and well below the spider!

  19. Today, I was greeted with a lovely Taylormade iron box. I walked into the door and saw the box and immediately asked my wife what it was. She replied with, "I don't know. You tell me?" I started going through my mind about all of the searches I've done recently. I got scared I pocket purchased a club on accident. I replied with, "I swear babe. I haven't bought anything. Especially with out telling you first." I opened the box and saw the below beauty sitting there. I picked up the card and was surprised to see I had been selected based on my response to a post. If I'm being perfectly honest, I can't even remember submitting anything to win the club. But none the less, I'm thankful for the opportunity. Based on my initial thoughts of looking down at the club at address, it's nice. I don't have a feeling of oh shoot I have to be good to game these. The wide top line provides the confidence. The top line doesn't seem overly wide though. I'm a single digit handicapper right now and I could easily see myself gaming an entire bag of these. RANT INCOMING: (I really don't understand why most golfers want to have Blades. I get the allure of the sleek nature of the irons, but from a performance standpoint, if you can't put little round wear marks in your irons, I really don't believe blades is best. I know there can be outliers, but double digit handis definitely shouldn't be gaming blades. The point of irons isn't to look the best while you're at address. Save looking good for apparel. I'd rather have an iron that performs amazing but doesn't look the greatest. I understand the point of look good feel good though). In the coming weeks, I plan on providing my unbiased review of this iron. I'm currently gaming the Taylormade PSI irons. We'll see how big of a difference a couple years makes for technology. I love the feel of the PSI's when I flush them. It seriously feels like butter when cutting through the ball and the grass. Coming from the S55's, it's amazing the difference in feel and forgiveness.
